I've had a swissgear laptop case for YEARS, but my only problem with it were the buckles. They were plastic so I "upgraded" them with metal ones. Just recently the strap failed and I was unable to salvage it so I did some research. Looked at TONS of laptop cases, messenger bags and backpacks. My requirement was that it HAD to have metal clips. I came across this one. I did some research and found that it has a shoe compartment which is a plus since I walk a lot in the downtown for commuting from my parking lot to my office. I can pack my extra work shoes in the kitchen sink and be on my way to change once I arrive at my desk. I have a umbrella that I attach to the straps on the side (and has come in handy more than once), and carry a tablet with me at almost all times. I have my ID's and tablet battery and drawing pen with me and I STILL have plenty of room! I've weighted this backpack down and I don't notice that much weight pulling my shoulders. The other thing I like are the clips that hold the top cover on. I'm part of the 501st and I use this while traveling because it's sturdy and has plenty of room! Now with all these positives, there are a few negatives: There are no vent holes in the bottom, so if you have anything that's wet... pack a plastic bag. The top cover is a bit odd to open and doesn't like to stay open, but it's a metal cable all around so it should hold up. The side pockets hold a 1 liter bottle of Evian easily, but I usually only carry one in the opposite side due to my umbrella. I'm not too much of a fan of the side access for the tablet compartment AND there is no padding at the bottom. So be careful when setting your backpack down on a hard surface (easily fixed with a tablet sleeve or some styrofoam in the bottom). Not much purpose to the three clips to the front other than carabiners or a few tags/keychains. Overall, I'll stick to this backpack and buy more when/if this things kicks the bucket!
