Very early in this spin-off of director Steven Soderbergh's trilogy of movies about George Clooney's ultra-smooth, ultra-smart thief we are introduced to what is and arguably always has been the most fascinating thing about these movies not to mention heist and/or crime dramas in general. This being the fact that the type of people who find themselves in such scenarios have enough self-confidence and charisma to be able to pull-off whatever facade they wish to carry. It's not about what you may or may not be hiding on the inside or what you know about yourself that you believe everyone who sees you immediately assumes as well, but more it is utilizing your appearance, age, and swagger (or lack thereof) to allow those who see you to make those first, quick assumptions only for you to then deliver upon them so as they don't think about you again. It is an awareness of sorts that Clooney's character never fully utilized, he was always the cool guy in the nice suit, but it is almost immediately that his sister, Debbie Ocean, as played by Sandra Bullock utilizes this tool. And then she uses it again. And again. If her character's tastes weren't so expensive she could make a fine enough living as a salesperson given the way she is able to adapt to and go with whatever environment she finds herself in and whatever people she finds herself in front of, but this is a movie that is meant to both continue the Ocean's legacy while expanding on the diversification of those gender and ethnic gaps that are being actively addressed in Hollywood as of late. Whether you are in support of this or moronically opposed for one reason or another this agenda doesn't really factor into the execution of the film save for one very pointed line of dialogue that is delivered in such a fashion so as to provide reasoning if not necessarily a justification for this movie's existence. Whether this was an Ocean's movie or not though, what gives the film its pulse is this throughline idea of knowing how to interact with people by scanning them upon meeting them and figuring out what type of person they want in their life and immediately becoming that person. Bullock and a few of her co-stars are able to explore this in a few different ways, but it is mostly Bullock who presents a surprisingly layered approach to this train of thought as we see her Debbie battle with how long such a lifestyle can remain exciting as masked by intentions of justice and vengeance. It's a shame the movie itself doesn't follow through on these instincts as the movie Bullock presents us with and allows us to assume Ocean's 8 might become is far more fascinating than the fun, but ultimately derivative one it ends up being.

Not as clever as the other 3

Danny Ocean's sister leads the 8 people on the heist. Other than Sandra Bullock(Debbie Ocean) and Sarah Paulson's character(Tammy), you don't really know the other people and get attached. Not very clever and seems like luck gets the group out of trouble instead of brains. Solid TV movie and if you want to complete the Ocean series, buy it, other than that, it is a rental

It was a nice diversion for a couple hours but the good performances were let down by a dull script. It's a caper movie without much suspense, and the motivations for the the Helena Bonham-Carter and Anne Hathaway characters seemed forced. But, as a huge fan of Sarah Paulson, the movie is worth watching for her performance alone.

This movie doesn't do anything that other movies have done much better, but it's still a solid heist flick. Picture and sound are fine on the UHD, but nothing spectacular. Overall, very average release but should be fine for fans of the genre or the actors starring in it.

Establishing the characters too forever! My husband feel asleep! Picked up towards the end but there was not enough "conflict". They went in, achieved the goal & everyone went on their separate ways. Not nearly as good as the "boy" version.

The blu-ray audio/video quality rates a 4 out of 5 stars. As for the flick itself. It was hit and miss. I enjoyed some of the more minor characters and wished they had bigger parts. In the end I enjoyed the heist and the camaraderie that these women came to share.

This was a decent watch. It pales in comparison to the original series. It felt rushed. & as much as I do like Sandra Bullock, I don’t believe she was the right fit for the lead role. It was just like they found a bunch of stars & just threw them in a mov E.

The writers tried too hard to sell the all-female cast as a primary component of the story. Our family was bored watching the movie right up until the end. The earlier episodes of this franchise were immersive and this one does not compete.

Of course the first Ocean's (11) movie was the best. I put this somewhere in the middle off the other 2. Great cast of woman acting in this one. Gave dvd to a relative & also enjoyed the Digital Code to stream the movie on my tablet.

Cool to own, but the movie is very lacking. I felt like the whole movie was spent trying to showcase each female character. And when they were planning and doing the heist, the way they explained/described it could have been better.

Ocean's 8 changes things up with an all-female gang, but there's a boyfriend angle, so even when women are running a multi-million-dollar con they have to make room for guy troubles, which is a drag.

I fell asleep, I watched it again a week later and fell asleep yet again. I have not fallen asleep watching a movie in a long time. I may give it one more shot but I will try and trick myself and watch it in the morning.

The actresses phoned in their performances on this one. Was very much along the lines of the other oceans movies. Fell asleep halfway through and woke up to see the end. Probably the best way to watch this one

This one is not the best in the franchise. Despite this i still enjoyed it. It has a great star studded ensemble cast as usual. Would of been a little better with a back from the dead cameo by Clooney's character Danny.

The movie was okay, but some may not like it because it is a sequel without the main characters. Some action and a decent mo ie if it was not related to the previous movies. Give it a try

Movie wasn’t bad because the cast was awesome. I don’t really care much for the oceans franchise but these female powerhouses were worth watching. Movie is not great but I have seen worth.

I enjoyed watching this, has a twist (no spoiler) of course. Similar in theme to the other Oceans' movies. If you love the Ocean series, you should take a look at this one.

The all-star cast drew me in, but if you’ve ever seen an Ocean’s movie, it was basically the same plot as the previous ones. Still a fun, entertaining movie.

Little disappointed. Figured it would have had a little of the flair the other oceans movies did. I know they didn’t connect with the other but still disappointed.

Nice movie trying to keep the Ocean's franchise alive. Fantastic female ALL STAR cast. Good humor. With not a lot of story line it is weak. Paid $12.99 it's worth $4.99.
