Customers are saying

Customers highly value the engaging gameplay, memorable music, and compelling story of Octopath Traveler. Many also praise the enjoyable battle system and the high-quality collector's edition. While some find the game requires a bit of repetition and is pricey, minor issues with the collector's edition packaging were also noted.

Was very excited for the release of this game, and I was not disappointed! this is a great old school RPG style game that has been refined through years of experience. If you have every played any of the bravely default games, then you will see many similar aspects. The battle system is so in depth and there are so many directions and story paths you can follow. It will be easy to sink 80+ hours into this, which is great for a portable system like the switch! Highly recommended

It’s very rare to come across a game that has so much to give and can be very impactful to so many people. From the demo that released last year, you could already tell this game would be a masterpiece. It has masterful storytelling, amazing music, a fine-tuned battle system, and a 2D over 3D artsyle that is really great to look at (The attention to detail with the world around you, is a great thing to sit back and watch, as well). If you have a Switch, this game is a must own.

If you don't enjoy JRPGs then no, you will not enjoy this game. Moving on. Here's what I did like: -A decent JRPG experience that hearkens back to experiences such as Final Fantasy 4, 5, or 6 -The battle system is interesting enough that you have to think about the rhythm and strategy of the battle instead of dumping all your damage -The pixel art is absolutely stunning and it is obvious the artists poured their heart into crafting the visuals -The soundtrack is excellent Here's what I didn't like: -The story and writing can come off as tropey and predictable -A missed opportunity when it comes to party interaction within the stories itself -The rogue vs. noble actions were a good idea on paper but implementation could have been better -Small quality of life issues Is this the best JRPG evarrrrr in a long time? No. Did I enjoy the everloving shtuff out of this game in spite of its faults? Yes I did. If you like turn based JRPGs, you can't go wrong with Octopath Traveler. All-in-all, I found the purchase to be worthwhile. I hope you do too.

    Excellent Throwback to the 80s/90s

I played very few JRPGS, but Octopath Traveler is a well-executed game that reminds us of the great aspects of the turn-based RPGs from the 80s and 90s, with intricate story lines and a solid combat system. This game is an excellent representation of the genre, and is right at home on the Nintendo Switch. But this game is not for everyone. If you are not into RPGs/JRPGs, you probably will not be as immersed in this game, but odds are you will grow to like it.

I love this game! For fans of old school RPG's for certain. The only gripe i have is that the stories never intersect but the battle system, artwork, and music more than make up for it. The soundtrack for this game is amazing. I would also highly recommend the collectors edition if you can get it for a reasonable price. Shaped like a book, it features pop-up art, a coin, and a music collection cd. One of the better and more imaginative

Great classic style RPG game, very reminiscent of classic RPGs like final fantasy and chrono trigger. (Made by the same company, Square Enix) The graphics are not that great but the gameplay makes up for it. This will consume your time and you will have fun on the way. The Wayfarer's Collectors Edition is a great limited edition and comes with awesome goodies like a book, map and cd in a great thick plastic case. Top quality game.

Octopath Traveler is easily one of the most charming and nostalgic JRPGs to come around in the past decade. The writing, music, graphics and gameplay are top-notch if you don't mind a grind heavy RPG. The reason I give this 4 stars is ONLY because the Wayfarer's Edition is not intelligently designed to allow you to show off the beautiful pop-up book style dioramas that are included. The soundtrack CD is a solid offering of 14 songs, the cloth map is gorgeous and the metal coin is very nicely made, but I have yet to see a good way to display the dioramas without it wanting to close on itself. Some of the scenes even have slight creases from being closed up tightly. It's really not a huge deal but I just think anyone buying this product should know about this beforehand. Still highly recommend the game and if that isn't a problem for you then this special edition is a wonderful addition to your collection.

This game is fantastic. It has great atmosphere, music and battle system. The story (so far) has been quite engaging. Definitely pick this up if you enjoyed SNES-PS1 style RPG era. The only note is that there is no "over arching" story here. It's 8 individual character stories and progression. There's very little cross reference between them. If you can get over that short coming, you'll enjoy the game !

Octopath is one of those RPGs that stays with you for a long time. The great game play and incredible story will keep this game close to your heart for years to come. With the option to choose from 8 different starting characters and the ability to crate a party to suite your play style, makes the game accessible to everyone; RPG vets and new comers alike. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up.

There are 2 OT demos where one you get to play 2 characters that last about an hour each and the other where you get to play all characters for 3 hours. This is an old school turn based RPG that’s not hard to figure out. It’s an excellent game on the go but sometimes the coloring in caves and such make it hard to see where you need to go. Sound is fantastic and voice acting is too notch.

SquareEnix found a way to write a love letter to 90's JRPG fans, and a spiritual successor to games like Final Fantasy VI and ! Gorgeous sprite-based graphics, innovative turn-based combat, a delightful soundtrack, and a varied, colorful cast makes Octopath Traveler a great addition to JPRG fans and Switch owners alike. This collector's edition has some great bonuses too!

The game itself is a treat with its gorgeous 2D graphics, tactical turn-based combat, and well designed job/skill system. It can be a little grindy at times and the characters don't really interact much. But if you enjoy RPG's from the mid-90's, you'll love this. The collector's edition is really nice too. I bought it for the soundtrack, but the little pop up book is neat.

This is a great game for fans of the classic JRPG style of games. It is similar to the Bravely Default games that are available on the Nintendo 3DS; if you enjoyed those games, then you will most likely enjoy this game. It features a turn-based combat system (not Active Time Battle), which is implemented really well. It also features great art and an amazing soundtrack.

Octopath Traveler is an immensely enjoyable classic jrpg. The story is interesting from protagonist to protagonist but there doesn't seem to be any major story driving the travelers. There is a bit of grinding involved but the combat is enjoyable. The difficulty of the game is higher than some recent games but it is never unfair or cheap feeling.

I love this game! It is absolutely gorgeous, and the music perfectly enhances each scene. The characters are interesting, and the gameplay is fun. I am so glad I pre-ordered the special edition. The pop up book is beautiful, and I love collectible coins! I highly reccomend this game to any lover of RPGs and retro styled art.

This game is off the chain! First of all, the collector's edition has some really cool stuff. A cloth map, a gold coin from the game, a pop-up book and the game's awesome soundtrack. The HD 2D graphics and lighting are amazing and it's just a good all-around RPG by Square-Enix. This is a must buy for the Nintendo Switch!

Octopath is a pretty solid game. Super fun, and absolutely gorgeous looking. The collector's edition is no exception. I haven't been this in love with a collector's edition in ages. Looks great closed up or opened to any of the pop up pages. If you can grab this and you enjoy the game, grab it and dont look back.

This game is a great love letter to the amazing snes Japanese Role Playing Games of the past. It hits the mark with its beautiful sprites, and flashy graphics. The battle system is very deep will keep you engaged for hours. Where the game suffers for me is in the story department, though each characters story is fleshed out, where they missed the mark is when you progress the characters stories, the party members become mute additions that offer nothing to the current characters story. They just stand there like they are not part of it. To me that is the only thing that was a missed opportunity. Aside from that you cannot go wrong with this game.
