Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the immersive VR experience and the comfortable design of the Rift Headset, frequently praising its lightweight feel and intuitive touch controllers. However, some users point to the lower resolution and resulting screen door effect as drawbacks, while others mention occasional motion sickness and compatibility issues with certain games or hardware. The available content library is also a point of contention for some customers. Despite these shortcomings, many appreciate the headset's overall performance and value for the price.

The Oculus Rift has been one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. Skyrim VR is probably my favorite. They did such an incredible job on that game, that it feels real. I talk to NPCs and I feel like I’m talking to real people. It’s like entering the world of Skyrim, and I’ve been to all my favorite places. That’s not including zombies, Onward, Robo Recall, and so many others. As amazing as it is, there are some setbacks. You have to have a pretty powerful computer to be able to use this product. You can find an 800$ Oculus ready computer on the Oculus website, even then it’s a pretty expensive setup. Also, the Oculus might make you nauseous. From what I’ve seen it’s about 60% of people who have tried it have gotten nauseous, if you have a sensitive inner ear it probably will. Even for me I have never gotten nauseous while playing except a little bit in a space experience, but a lot of times I can only play for 2 to 3 hours at most, because the headset starts to hurt my forehead. Also your face gets really sweaty. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Oculus so much, and it’s still so worth it, these are just things to consider.

I got my Oculus on the Summer of Rift sale. It included a set of Oculus Touch controllers and an Eve: Valkyrie game all for $399.00. I absolutely love it. The only complaints I have with it are 1) you can not get the BestBuy extended warranty with it and 2) one of the headphones quit working a couple of weeks after I got it. The headphone problem turned out to be a loose connection where it is attached to the headband, just a simple tightening of a plastic screw with the included screwdriver and problem resolved. The warranty however is just something there is no control over. I don't fault Oculus on that, I do however feel disappointed in BestBuy to be selling a piece of computer equipment that costs this much and they refuse to offer any kind of protection other than the manufacturer warranty that makes me have to send it back to them and wait possible weeks to get it back or a replacement. I mean I can get a warranty from them on a $200 monitor, printer, hard drive, tablet, etc., but not on a $400 VR headset. Hopefully it doesn't break for a few years, because unlike some folks out there, my money doesn't grow on trees or fall from the heavens in prewrapped bundles ready to be spent.

If you never used one, try one. The Rift is amazing. I never felt so immersed until I played Robo Recall, Discovering Space and used Google Earth VR with it. My one gripe is that a little light may be let in around the nose. Besides that, no complaints. Definitely recommended. If you can get the bundle before the $399 sale is over, get it.

    - Got this at $400 with the motion controllers. - If you are a hardcore gamer, you have got to get yourself on of these :) - Keep in mind there is a high probability you will get motion sickness. - There is not a huge game backlog available right now but there are several promising games about to be released this year and next year.

With the Rift bundle dropping to 399, I finally took the plunge. About 8 months ago I had to build a new gaming PC, I made sure it would have the power necessary to drive VR, and then some. I am so glad I did, putting on the headset takes you to a whole new experience. All I can say, is make sure you have enough space to really use it.

The Oculus was a great choice especially for the Summer of Rift sale. The build quality is fantastic and the unboxing experience was great. The only downside is how easily the lenses scratch. After only one time putting the headset on with glasses and now both lenses are scratched. Get a lens protector asap if you wear glasses!!!!

Virtual Reality is that experience you can't exactly do justice by describing through words. You HAVE TO experience it to understand what it is about. And oculus rift is amazing. From packaging, to setup to getting started with the games and animations, its so smooth.

The Oculus is well worth the price tag if you can afford it. Not only is it like your own private arcade machine, it's a great conversation starter for visitors to your house. But be sure to buy this with the Oculus Touch, given that the Touch completes the experience, but costs only a small part of the cost of an Oculus + Touch.

I am a fan of VR and once I saw this available with the touch controllers plus 7 free games (8 counting EVE Valkyrie), I had to make the purchase. It is definitely much higher fidelity than psvr, and the game catalogue is massive compared to sonys vr as well. However, it is not the most comfortable headset to wear since I have glasses. That is why I'm only giving it 4 stars.

I was very skeptical about VR before I purchased this, now I am a believer. Pros: Easy set up, comfortable, I can wear my glasses, lots of free "experiences" on both Oculus and Steam store, incredible gaming immersion Cons: Requires a strong PC, can get hot, eye fatigue, lack of AAA games (Lone Echo is a must buy)

The technology has come a LONG way. It really has, but I just can't get past the screen door effect. It's awful and if you're expecting a fantastic movie experience, don't bother. I'll be holding on to it until something better comes along (because honestly, there isn't much better out there). I'd recommend trying it out if you're interested in the experiences.

The Oculus Rift is an incredible device that immerses you within the game. Getting the software to load on my gaming PC took a while to get it to download. After many forum reviews, downloading the latest Net framework ultimately resolved the download barrier. The Oculus Rift support, while pretty responsive, was useless in resolving getting the download to work.

While I really wanted this to work out, small screen technology just isn't quite there yet. Yes, it gives you a sense of immersion with Elite Dangerous or flight sims, etc. However, the resolution is just low. Screen door effect is very prevalent as well as light blurring due to the Fresnel lenses. All the games/simulators I played dropped resolution to 1280x720. Tried everything to get it higher but after speaking with a friend who has an Oculus also and another with a Vive, unfortunately this is the resolution they both operate at. Returned it to Best Buy today. Maybe the headsets coming out at the end of 2017 will be higher rez... :(

Most people who's reading this is probably deciding which VR to purchase. Let me tell you this, I decided to go to Oculus because it has one of the best controllers in the market. It feels really good on your hand and it feels like as if you are actually grabbing items and pulling trigger to shoot things.

I bought this primarily because i wanted give a serious to try to vr, but did not expect to be using it much after a month or so. After playing for just a few minutes, though, I was hooked. Even just the intro for touch controllers was fantastic. I don't think i will ever be satisfied with non-vr games again.

I bought the Oculus for my kids and I have found myself playing it as much as them. It is remarkable what technology has done to bring this to market. Don't wait to see what is going to happen a year from now to purchase this. They will probably expand on this but don't waist a year or two to see where it goes.
