Customers are saying
Customers enjoy the immersive VR experience and the comfortable design of the Rift Headset, frequently praising its lightweight feel and intuitive touch controllers. However, some users point to the lower resolution and resulting screen door effect as drawbacks, while others mention occasional motion sickness and compatibility issues with certain games or hardware. The available content library is also a point of contention for some customers. Despite these shortcomings, many appreciate the headset's overall performance and value for the price.

Not quite there, but pretty amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.(This review was written before the release of Touch) VR has been my dream since I was a kid, and I think for people like me, this product is pretty much a dream come true and easily worth the price simply because it's the experience we've all wanted. It has some issues, including the present lack of room-scale VR or controls that aren't an Xbox One controller, but games like Lucky's Tale, Damaged Core, and Chronos all demonstrate that this configuration is still viable for VR. Moreover, the Touch will provide room-scale VR functionality later this year, so the Rift will be on par with the Vive. The best feature of the Rift, however, is that the tracking seems to be incredible. The PS VR's double-camera option is good, but not nearly the equivalent of the Rift's sensor. The biggest downside, and I think it's simply with all VR platforms, is motion sickness. VR requires an effort to acquire 'VR legs' through practice and slowly easing into more challenging experiences. This may be a real dealbreaker for many people, but if you're really interested in this experience, it's worth it.

Not what you're expecting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The problem with reviewing a device like the Oculus Rift is that the experience really hinges on having good software. However, the hardware can also break the experience. In this case, I think both are lacking. First... hardware: the Rift's resolution is pretty low; you get an obvious "screen door" affect when playing games on this thing, and this really affects my ability to enjoy the game. I also have issues with the comfort of the headset; it fogs up easily and just isn't comfortable for wearing hours at a time. Having said all that... after a few minutes, it's still kind of easy to forget where you are and get sucked in to the virtual world. One of the demo games had me and my kid occupied for hourrs, it seemed, playing in the shooting gallery and the physics sandbox. (That demo is only available with the touch controllers, though. But if you're getting the Rift, you really do need the touch controllers.) On the software: some of the best games that should have VR... don't, and I'm disappointed by the lineup of VR games out there right now. Star Trek Bridge Commander is one of the best games, but it didn't hold my interest for more than a couple of missions. There's also not a great integrated solution yet for things like NetFlix and YouTube videos. I want to see that stuff "just work," rather than requiring me to launch special viewer software. Personally, I'd wait a bit longer until a higher resolution headset comes out and we have better games and integration with browsers for online video.

Vr has arrived.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried the oculus rift at a BestBuy store kiosk which had both the rift and the touch controllers. I was blown away on how the visors were confrontable and light weight on my face. It did take a while to get it completely confrontable to fit my face since I have thick cheeks. The rift was clear and the demos I tried were made for the touch. When I was at the home main menu, the graphics were like the old crt monitors of having the black lines between every pixel, however, once I began to play the games like The Unspoken demo, I did not notice the lines. There also was what people call "God Rays" which is kinda like seeing what the optical vision illusion of starburst from a black background displaying white fronts. This only happened to me when I see the hourglass loading image from the corner of my eye. Again this did not show up for the games I was playing and just at some parts. The touch controllers felt 1 to 1 and felt natural in my hands. It did not take long for me to get comfortable controlling the games I was playing with the touch. The games I played was lucky's tale - no touch controllers just xbox, The Unspoken- touch controllers- very nice shooting/discs of tron type game, and the climb - touch controllers - I felt like I was gonna fall off the cliff and really felt the high you get as a climber. If you get a rift, make sure you also opt for the touch controllers to complete the set, however the rift by itself along with the xbox wireless controller, (yes it is wireless that comes with a dongle for the pc), was great to play games like eve Valkyrie which I received for free during the promotion.

The best deal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset is not as diverse as the vibe but it has the same games on steam and exclusive games are better on oculus. The oculus store is easuer ro navigate and gui is better. Better interface for the player. You get the same things as the vibe even the controllers with two sensors only difference this has built in on the ear closed headphone. Non noise cancelling. It has a better price tag for the bundle. A must try for the vr fanatic. Try a phone vr experience if you like it and want mote get the oculus headset.

Great VR Experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gonna make this quick for you. As soon as i put it on it gave me the word amazing right away. I tried the games that came for free with rift such as robo recall and touch tutorial with the robot aka wall-e and it was just unbelievable the experiance. People say vive is better with room scale but thats not true get a 3rd senser and u have no problem. Im not going to lie to u there is a slight screen door effect but the immerion makes u forget about it and thats coming from someone with real ocd lol. I also tried arizona sunshine and superhot and those games made me feel like I need extra room to play in, I hit my wall and fan a couple times haha. What are u waiting on your missing out use vorp x for non vr games u can use psp emulator dolphin which is a wii/gc emulator and they all look fabulous as well as pcsx2 ps2 emulator so there is plenty of vr content to play with .Concluding id say this product is here to stay for a couple years so id definitely recommend getting it u cant go wrong.

A must try.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Oculus would not be as good if it wasn't for the games. The games I've played have been while though out and show case very well the future of VR. You have to experience it for yourself. Motion sickness is all in the game. I've play some that have been tested for VR and they play great; and play other indie not tested games that made me feel off. Stop by a best buy and see for yourself. The games they are showing are top notch. Please support VR no matter what platform you choose. Gaming has come a long way over the years and this will put you in the world of its creators rather is be a low poly game like SuperHot, a mairo like game cub game like Lucky Tail, or Robo Recall. Yes you are wired in with the headset. So were our controllers years ago. You get to try interesting concept of game that you rarely see on other platforms. This is a great platform that game developers are going to have a great time with coming up with new and interesting ways to play game.

Excellent System
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was on the fence about getting the rift compared to the vive, but after the price drop it seemed like a no brained to me and I am glad I made the jump. Tracking is excellent, the headset is comfortable, and you get access to both Steam VR and Oculus exclusives.

Love It
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a review for the hardware. I love it. Comfortable and light. It does what it says and plays all VR available on Steam. Again the hardware is great. Works perfectly. The software was easy to set up and easy to follow the onscreen instruction. Once everything is installed you can take it on and off and it will go to sleep mode. It detects when your wearing it and not. I would buy it again. The games, there are not many AS A games out there. For the ones that do exist, it is amazing. If this trend keeps up, the games will just be better. Experience, I do find myself getting motion sickness from some games. I only felt sick once so far and it's after about an hour of EVE Valkery. Never had an issue with any of the other games, like Robo Recall. If your PC can tackle this, it's a must have. Great thing to show off to friends and family and have a great laugh too.

Good VR experience.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first experience with VR and I purchased the Rift based on extensive online reviews of it and other similar systems (i.e., Playstation VR and HTC Vive). The Rift provided a very good VR experience. However, for me there are a couple of limitations that caused me to end up returning the system. The biggest drawback for me was that although I could wear the Rift headset with my glasses on, it caused the fit to be very tight--to the point of extremely uncomfortable. I tried it without my glasses and fit was much more comfortable, but with the few possible adjustments on the Rift I couldn't get a sharp picture. So, I think the fit would be fine for anyone without glasses (or maybe even smaller glasses). The other problem I had was that the VR experience did make me slightly queasy with certain apps. I know this is an individual issue and not Rift specific. Anyway, for those reasons, I returned the item. That said, it was still a great experience and I would recommend it to someone who wouldn't have the fit issues (eye glasses) that I had.

Awesome! You May need Display port to HDMI adapter
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The oculus rift vr experience is amazing. I had a few huccups trying to get it to work...but that was just a cable adapter issue (display port to hdmi). I feel like there will be an enormous amount of people disappointed come Christmas day simply because this issue exist and most don't realize it's such an easy fix. If you've purchased this as a Christmas gift and aren't sure if you need the adapter, my advice would be to buy the adapter just in case. Remember... the stores will be closed that day and you surely don't want your loved one to be disappointed on christmas day! You can always return the adapter if you don't need it, but you cannot replace those Christmas day memories.

Oculus is awesome!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Completely immersive experience! I tried it in the store and had to have it. Everyone that has used mine wants one. Definitely requires a high-end system for a great experience and adequate space in the room you will be using it in, so do your homework before buying. Also, a few of the games I've tried have a little bit of disorientation, but you get used to it.

Great VR at it's current price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned both a HTC Vive and Oculus rift. In my opinion, the Vive is slightly more comfortably and definitely fits glasses better. The Rift is slightly less comfortable but weighs less and has the added convenience of built in earphones (less cables everywhere than the Vive). The touch controllers are slightly more comfortable than the Vive's. However the vive has a more versatile set up since the touchpads can act as buttons or whatever the software makes them while the Rift will always have control sticks and buttons. Ultimately, at the current price point it is hard for me to recommend the Vive over the Rift. Feature-wise, they are very equal with each doing some things better than the other. I don't have enough space for room scale VR so that also favors the Rift.

Decent first gen product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product was reasonably easy to setup (barring a couple small quirks like it reporting a general install failure when there isn't enough disk space to install). It's a pretty fun thing to play around with. But resolution for most applications just isn't very high yet--really noticeable if you're used to enjoying a lot of HD tv and gaming. The breadth and quality of games and apps for the platform is growing but still fairly limited. The really big name developers haven't thrown much weight behind building on this platform yet. But I would expect that to steadily increase as the hardware adoption grows. In another 3-5 years these VR sets will likely be much cheaper and much more common. And then the whole industry will take off. But for now this is a decent time-waster and you can definitely see the potential.

Very nice product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have played a few games now and I've enjoyed it. There are not that many out. The wand controllers aren't out yet. It is not supported fully on steam vr. I was able to use the steam virtual desktop flawlessly. This is a very nice feature. It works with dual monitors but it needs some driver work to be perfect. The interface and controller work well. Surprisingly the occulus uses an Xbox controller that did not work out of the box for me with windows 10. I eventually found a driver that worked It's findable on with Google. It is relatively comfortable but you will need to take breaks. Work on getting the fitment right for max comfort. The tracking is good. Supposed to be the best currently. Certainly worth the price. Packaged game is very cool and fun to play. Any 8 year old + Could manage it and enjoy itm

Feels like I'm in the game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just can't get over how convincing some of the experiences are. Truly feel like I'm in a different world when I put the headset on (despite the low perceived resolution). All of the free games/apps that come with the touch bundle were great, but Robo Recall really shines. First time in my life I've ever been in the top 200 of a leaderboard (so addictive). Medium and Quill are amazing creative tools as well that I've only begun to explore. Highly recommend a third sensor for the games that require or give the option to turn around.

A blast to use if you have enough space
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a ton of fun playing games on here, and trying out vr. I'd say the purchase was definitely worth it, but make sure you have enough space to really take advantage of it. When using the Oculus touch with it, I felt like I always needed more space to move so I didn't have to worry about hitting things. I eventually moved my PC into another room to reduce the worry, but still found myself occasionally bumping things while I was playing. Obviously this will affect people differently, but space is something to consider at least. Other than that, though, I absolutely love the headset. Games are sharp and enjoyable, even if it's a little unnerving occasionally. :P If you're prone to motion sickness I'd avoid it though.

Kickstarted and price dropped is definitely a look
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Oculus Rift brought VR to the forefront of most enthusiast PC gamers, and perhaps helped push the idea of exclusive PC-only experiences. The Oculus ergonomics (requiring an HDMI port and only 1 USB 3.0 port) and form factor (being one of the most comfortable headsets to wear) are still better than most of its other alternatives, though its field of view isn't as encompassing as the HTC Vive. With that said, what Rift has going for is its price point, which after its recent sale, puts it in line with the PSVR, inlcuding much superior controllers as part of its bundle (by the time this is read, said bundle might have increased in price/disappeared). Given how I bought this at BB at $399 w/ Touch controllers and a game altogether, its an incredible deal.

NOT a skeptic anymore
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, had played with the phone VR headsets and was NOT impressed. The Oculus Rift machine is really incredible. I've played EVE: Valkyrie and Minecraft on it so far and really enjoyed them. This was a Christmas gift for my son and he is very happy with the Oculus. Setup was fairly simple, make sure you have enough USB 3.0 ports ... unused ones. Also, the Oculus headset has a hardwired USB3/HDMI cable. So, you need an open HDMI port on your graphics card. Our graphics card only had ONE HDMI, which we were using for his main monitor ... so we had to go out and buy a Display Port to HDMI cable for his monitor.

Worth for sale price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to jump into VR once these were available with the Touch controllers for $399. The price is fair and the experience is the next leap in gaming. It's comfortable to wear as it's fairly light weight, plus the included headphones are decent and have good range of adjustment. One con I have is it's not comfortable with glasses and since it's so close to your eyes, I had issues with how clear it was. To remedy this, I just pop in contacts when I want to play VR games and I'm good to go. Just something to keep in mind. Overall I would recommend the Oculus if you have the hardware to run it and if you also get the Touch controllers.
