Customers enjoy the immersive VR experience and the comfortable design of the Rift Headset, frequently praising its lightweight feel and intuitive touch controllers. However, some users point to the lower resolution and resulting screen door effect as drawbacks, while others mention occasional motion sickness and compatibility issues with certain games or hardware. The available content library is also a point of contention for some customers. Despite these shortcomings, many appreciate the headset's overall performance and value for the price.

My son begged for this. He scraped and saved, and when the price dropped, we gave him the okay to buy one. What an amazing experience. I've used "3D viewers" before, but they don't come close to what the Oculus Rift provides. The included games and other "apps" are (mostly) excellent. Room set-up is simple, but does require a decent amount of "open" space to fully take advantage of the tracking. No third sensor on our set-up and it tracks movement very well. If you're looking for a great VR experience, then give the Oculus Rift a try. It's very impressive.

I paid full price for the Rift, just a few months back. It's an incredible product, with great tracking, excellent image quality, and is comfortable for moderate periods of use. I modded mine with a holder for prescription lenses, so I no longer have to wear it with my glasses on (which was possible, as long as your glasses aren't too wide across the front. Mine are, which made me feel 'squeezed'). Oculus has really thrown around development money to get AAA titles on the Rift, like Lone Echo, which is great. Nothing gives more immersion in an environment than well done VR. You won't want to go back to your flat monitor again.

Tried top of the line VR headset like HTC Vive, Oculus and found Oculus to be the best out there. No issues using the VR headset for 2+ hrs at a time - watched Netflix VR movies with no headaches. Great Oculus store game collections. Highly recommend for serious gamers.

I wasn't sure how good the Ocullus would be since it was one of first but out of this world good is what it is. My whole family loves playing it and there are so many games to choose from. Great deal when I got it.

I'm going to open with the one potential deal-breaker for some people: if you wear glasses, it's possible that your glasses will not fit inside these goggles. Mine fit, just barely, and that requires me to remove my glasses, squeeze them into the goggles, and then put glasses and goggles on together. If you have particularly wide glasses, that may pose a problem for you. For your reference, my frames are about 15 cm (a little under 6 inches) across; any more than that and I'd be very surprised if they fit.
If that's not a concern for you, then the next thing you'll need to check is your PC compatibility. If your PC is NOT compatible, the good news is that none of the major components are particularly hard to upgrade UNLESS your motherboard isn't compatible with the necessary parts (CPU, for instance, or if it can't take a full-size GPU; RAM should be no problem, or if you don't have enough USB 3.0 inputs; it takes 5 with the touch controllers).
Ok, so let's suppose that's all out of the way. Especially with the price drop and sale, you're now ready to dive into the world of VR. Graphics on most offerings are a little rough compared to the polished graphics on some of the top offerings these days, akin to an early Xbox compared to a modern one, but we're still in this product's infancy, and most content I've tried has been quite polished and immersive. Image clarity is very good, and the headset seems to be quite well-made and sturdily fit. Setup wasn't too difficult although one should also bear in mind that VR really is best if you have a fairly large open space to play in. While there really isn't a ton of content available, and most of the best stuff costs as much as a big name game on another platform, what I have tried out so far has been a worthy experience. Several games require a good amount of athleticism; I've sweated enough playing some of them that I invested in the VR Cover removable and washable foam covers. It really changes your gaming experience, especially with the touch controllers. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating was that some people just may not be able to use it if they have large glasses; that just seemed like poor design, especially considering how many gamers and nerds who might otherwise be interested don't have 20/20 vision. Otherwise, it's a well-executed product with lots of room to grow in the future, and at 399 for the headset and touch controllers, in the same price range as a videogame console, which seems pretty reasonable.

First you need a PC with a good graphics card. I will recommend a NVDIA G-force GTX 1070, or OCULUS approved PC.
The game console keeps you on your feet. You get a workout, it is fun. The headset is comfortable and adjustable, it is not heavy on your face, and you eye lashes or extended eyelashes are safe. I have tested it for 6 hours of continuous play. The cables are long enough. The hard part is just getting the sensors to track the triggers, be patient and you can get this part completed.

I love my Oculus Rift. I've had it now for almost 3 months and and still use it almost on a daily basis. I am a huge Simulation Racing fan so this paired with my G29 race wheel, the experience is almost magical. I bought the bundle that comes with the Touch Controllers and they just take the immersion level up to 11. There are a few drawbacks to it though; unless you have small glasses, it is a struggle to use the Rift with them, but since I am nearsighted, I don't need my glasses to use it. Another drawback is the foam piece that cushions it when you are wearing it is pretty firm and after about an hour I have to take a 10 minute break, not to mention is leaves a HUGE ring around your eyes were it sits against your face. I bought a replacement cushion from a 3rd party company that is a lot more comfortable and I can wear the headset non-stop with no issues. The last big drawback is how long the cord is. If you are just going to be sitting in one spot or standing in a very small area, this will be more than enough. Insignia makes an extension cable to give you an extra 9' of cord so you can do a whole room experience.
TL;DR
Pros:
+Light weight
+Very responsive (no motion sickness for me)
+Good clarity
+Good build quality
+Shocking VERY good built in headphones.
Cons:
-Not long enough cable for full room setup
-Foam cushion get uncomfortable quickly
-Not the best if you have wider glasses you have to wear.
-The one sensor is only good for use in VERY small area.
-You need a pretty beefy system ($1000+ to run some games at higher quality settings)
All of the cons can be fixed (except the glasses) with addition accessories which will take the price up some more, but in the end is worth every penny. I have friends that are "kind of" thinking about getting the Rift and I always try to get them to come over to try it out to make a decision if they want to buy it or not.

This is AMAZING! Always a casual gamer who prefers the campaign over multiplayer, but this is getting me into the competitive realm of gaming. There are many "Short Films" I call them, that showcase being in the scene vs a 3D view of the scene. VR has definitely renewed my desire for gaming and cinematic content. The Oculus headset includes very high end earphones that I actually had to turn down not up. Quality seems pretty solid. You have to go ahead and tighten the straps for the perfect fit and to block out external light. Content price ranges are very wide so you can splurge every now and then or rack up a bunch of cheap titles to keep the experiences coming not to mention the fee titles. One issue so far is with one of the tracking sensors. I bought the Touch controllers too so I don't know which sensor it is that's having the problem. Resetting sensor tracking with the Oculus software has corrected the issue so far. Way to expensive to be flaking out so soon. The touch controllers are very well suited for the VR experience. Very useful but a lot of the earlier games are not touch compatible. Hopefully some updates will come in the future so that I can completely ditch the xbox controller when using VR. Not that I have experienced any of the other VR choices out there but I can say that room scale or not, you will believe your real-world surroundings are truly gone once you step into the Oculus environments. I mean truly the floor disappears and you get the full sense of depth from whatever perch the title your playing puts you on. The Guardian system (Virtual Wall between the VR world and the real world) is a life saver but you really do need a big room or dedicated space for some of the action titles like SuperVR. I found myself throwing punches at opponents that were beside me and actually hitting my wall at the end of my swing. At least it wasn't the Flat Screen...yet. Again -- Amazing!

I was stuck between the rift and the vive. What sold me what how comfortable this is compared to the vive. It's much lighter and the touch controllers when they come out have a pistol style grip which is great for shooting games. It takes about 15 min to setup and start playing. The only drawback is at this moment you can't customize the main menu which is floating within a 3D house your sitting in. I would like to select different 3D areas to be within while I search for a game to play.

Impressive, I have this and a PSVR. This has better resolution, a larger selection of software and the touch controllers are amazing. Both are good but the PC that is running my rift is far more capable than the console. There are More AAA titles for the PSVR and the rift seems to suffer more screen door effect. I like them both but feel more immersed with the rift. I am running with a 3570k CPU and a R9 390 GPU. Everything maxes out smoothly. Highly recommend the Rift

I was a VR naysayer for a long time. Then Oculus ran an insane summer sale on hardware that Best Buy matched, and I decided to jump in. It's really impossible to describe just how immersive the experience is. Yes, the resolution is a little low, but within minutes your brain compensates for the "screen door effect" and it's like you've completely left your house. I think the best thing I can say about the Rift is just how jarring it is to take the headset off.

This was an impulse buy I half expected to try and return. Who knew I'd be so impressed I now have over a dozen games! Granted this was a pretty good deal, as it came with 7 free game downloads, some of which are pretty impressive top tier titles. But even if it didn't, my reaction would be the same. This is a gaming experience unlike any other. My background is console gaming (Xbox One), and my former prejudice had me thinking VR was a silly gimmick. Not the case. The Oculus made me a believer, now hopeful the technology sticks around and evolves instead of fading away like another tech fad. You really feel like you're in the action, not just watching it, as the sound and imagery constantly surround you. This really keeps you on your toes in shooting games like RoboRecall, which uses the touch controllers really well. For control pad driven games like Eve Valkyrie, the sense of immersion is no less, and a perfect example of a "this is what VR is all about" game. The only drawbacks for me are I can't wear it for more than a couple hours comfortably (probably shouldn't anyway), and some games do bring me a hint of motion sickness, but I find that if I power through the first couple minutes of that sensation, it goes away, enough to ignore at least. You also do need a fairly powerful computer with a strong graphics card. Regardless, if you haven't tried VR, real VR like the Oculus, not the cell phone goggles, and have even a fraction of the curiosity I had, just try it. No amount of praise I can think to write in this review will do it justice. Even if you're not a gamer, there are app experiences beyond games that are truly remarkable, like Google Earth VR and some short VR films. Check it out! This is just the beginning of what's possible with VR.

Let me start by saying I have owned a PS 1, 2, 3, 4 and Xbox .. When I got the Oculus Rift with an IBUYPOWER computer.... I did not play the games ... I was IN the game! Look left, look right, behind you ... its better than 2D better than 3D! The Oculus Rift itself is light, comfortable and adjusts to people who wear glasses. Its easy to setup 15 min or so and comes with free games and apps. Be ready to spend at least 1,500$ for the Oculus and a compatible gaming computer. I recommend the IBUYPOWER PC that Best Buy sells as it is less expensive than brand names and meets all requirements for the Oculus Rift. Overall I am 100% satisfied with the OCulus Rift and look forward to the touch joysticks coming out.

First off let me start by saying that the oculus Rift bundle is one of the best deals for a Virtual Reality headset that is available right now. 400 gets you the headset, 2 sensors, touch controllers, around 8 games (including eve Valkyrie), and all necessary cords. If you have a PC capable of running an Oculus Rift you should really consider trying or buying a vr headset, as for me it has become one of my favorite things.
Setting up the device is easy and your account is handled over the internet. Overall I'd recommend this product to anyone who has ever dreamed about VR and has the computer to run it. One caveat though, if you do not have the minimum specs on your PC to run VR do not purchase this headset (there is a diagnostic tool that you can use to see if your pc is VR ready (just use google to find it)). I'd also highly recommend having a slightly higher powered graphics card than the lowest possible card, I have a 1070 and I am able to super sample to get slightly better graphics which is important for clarity in VR.
In closing, while VR is still in its infancy and the technology will undoubtedly improve within the near future, what the oculus rift offers is still amazing and groundbreaking. I did not try any VR before I purchased the Rift and was blown away at just how awesome it was, but for others who are debating or for someone who is investing a large amount of their finances in both a VR ready computer and the Rift, I'd definitely recommend trying before you buy.
Hope this review was able to help someone on the fence.
Enjoy and if you purchase the welcome to the Grid.

I have both Vive and Rift.
Rift definitely has better graphic output and more polished in-headset interface.
However, Vive controllers gave me so much more joy than the Xbox one controller that came with the Rift.
Also, if you have the patient to wait for the touch controllers, it is better to wait for the touch bundle that will come later 2016.
Games that sells in the store front stay only inside there. That you need to think about.

Ever since I first heard of VR I've wanted to play in virtual worlds. I tried the few games they had in arcades, but they didn't really feel right. The new generation of headsets definitely feels right.
I've tried both the Oculus and the Vive and both are excellent headsets. I personally like how the touch controllers feel compared to the Vive's controllers, but would recommend anyone thinking of purchasing to try them both out first.

I had no idea VR had come this far until I got a chance to demo it at my local BestBuy. It is immersive and real feeling. I know it's the first generation of this and there will surely be next gen systems coming out in the next year or two, but I feel it's finally worth the investment at this new lowered price. This is the future of gaming and it's truly awesome. Try out playing Robot Recall on it at your local BB

Where do I begin?
The Oculus Rift is in a league of it's own, & by far one of my favorite purchases of the year! Putting the headset on for the first time is something you really need to see to believe. Your brain will have a hard time understanding what is going on in front of your eyes, so let me briefly explain the sensation using an analogy or two. :)
Your eyes flutter, then blink, as 2 1080x1200 OLED screens pierce your cortex. The sudden jolt of light makes you quickly shut both eyes, if only for a second. As you begin to reopen your eyes, you find yourself in a completely different environment; a sprawling metropolis with people all around you!
The aroma from your TV dinner in the microwave, which has been beeping it's completion, slowly edges over your nose causing you to notice the hot-dog stand across the virtual street. As you attempt to cross the road, your ceiling fan throws artificial breeze across your face, which felt like a sweet smelling city breeze furthering your desire for a virtual hot-dog. You activate your two touch-controllers for the first time & jump at the sight of having your hands infiltrate your virtual paradise! They look so real, how is this possible?!
You use your newly-found companions to hail a virtual cab, which promptly stops in front of you with a loud screech as the tires smoke from the sudden stop. You take one last look at the city & hop in the cab. You're asked for a destination.. where do you want to go next?
That is the beauty of the Rift : No place is out of reach.
