Fun to listen to but not very accessible

I like my music a bit more accessible. My favorite types of music are those that are experimental but accessible. This definitely falls in the former category but not so much in the latter. This is a really fun listen however. Especially with good speakers. All the nuances are great. It's not something I'd listen to often but once in a while is fine. Also, I normally don't mind cursing in music but the amount of F-words included and they way they're used, make Wayne, the lead singer, sound like he's a junior high kid who just discovered this word and just likes throwing it in random places to sound cool. So if you buy it, expect to listen to it once in a while but it's not accessible enough to listen to everyday.

This has to be the best album that the Flaming Lips have put out so far.

the Flaming Lips will never make another song like "She Don't Use Jelly" or even "Yoshimi Vs. The Pink Robots". From their Car Jam experiments of the 90's to USB sticks of music embedded in life-size skull-shaped gummi candy, expectations will do you no good when it comes to listening to The Flaming Lips. And that itself seems to be the point: to experience, to live, to BE with some of the most transcendental pop art being put out (certainly on a fancy major label like Warner Bros.) since Warhol's Factory.

Tha Flaming Lips latest Album

This Album was released on January 17, 2017.
It might have been influenced somewhat as a result of the Flaming Lips collaboration with Miley Cyrus on a new interpretation of the 'Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band' on an Album titled: "With a Little Help from My Fwends"!
Then they assisted Miley with recording 'Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz' and then went on tour performing as her backing Band.

For me after Embryonic, they started to get a little bit out there; with all of the "Fwends" albums and The Terror. This album kind of moves back towards something more accessible, but still not anywhere close to Soft Bulletin or Yoshimi.

A wonderful album from these psychedelic indie verterans, who combine the majesty of their "Soft Bulletin" era work with the experimental ethic of their more recent albums. Kudos to this band for refusing to rest on their laurels. A wonderful album.

The Flaming Lips have been nothing if not adventurous in their last few albums. Usually, that's a good and exciting trait for a band, especially one that's been around as long as they have. While any hardcore fan will still find this a worthy purchase, this album's scattershot nature and lack of focus may prove off putting to more casual observers.

It's the Flaming Lips, what can ya say? Don't expect any radio hit singles or a redo of Yoshimi or Soft Bulletin- still a fun listen!

The new Flaming Lips album is more listenable than The Terror, but not as intriguing as Embryonic. It stays around mid-tempo all the way through and some tracks meander a little too much, but many tracks are enjoyable. If anything, it's the most mellow and relaxing album they've released in a while.

The new Flaming Lips release mixes elements we've grown accustomed to: beautifully constructed pop songs and very strange sounds.
