    I get that the manufacturer has a disclaimer about the supposed "up to 40 mile range" and that it is in the most perfect of conditions and purely line of sight, but let's be real here. I bought these not hoping or expecting for 40 mile, 10 mile or even 4 mile range, but at least 1 strong mile of range, which they did not have. I tested them multiple times in my community and the best I could get was maybe 1/2 mile and even that was spotty. Very disappointed, which is why they are being returned.

    Better than expected. In testing them, these worked with a distance of about a mile and a half in a lightly wooded area with one person slightly higher in elevation. Great for camping.
