I purchased this to record lectures. I have the setting to 'conference room' and it works great. Granted you still have good speakers or headphones but you can hear everything really well. The professor is at front and sometimes I have to sit about two rows back. I even recorded one lecture at the back of the classroom. I could hear every word. The batteries (alkaline) lasted about four months with two 3.5 hour long lectures each week. I transferred the lectures to my laptop and played them back that way.

The Olympus is easy to use and does everything I need it to do. Sound quality is find and so is abity to pick up sound

This handy little recorder does everything i need it to do and more. Easy to setup and use, and the playback sound quality is very good. Nice features to go along with it and the battery life lasts long as well. I am very pleased i bought this product.

This was a nice product and is easy to use! I didn't realize that the product held so much storage. It was easy to find files.

Super good pick-up in conference setting. Picks up voices of people at table as well as people over 10 feet away from table. No noticeable noise. Just turn on, press record, and set it down. Unbelievable record time. Still on initial charge and have recorded three meetings. Only negative, to copy / back-up to computer, need to plug into USB port. On my laptop the ports are horizontal and recorder isn't as tall as computer port - small shim keeps from "hanging" down. Desktop ports are vertical slots and the recorder doesn't fit well. USB cable extension with male-to-female connections fixes both issues.

We used this digital recorder to record my 92 year old father-in-law's World War II experiences on a battleship in the South Pacific. The recorder worked great in every way. It picked up his voice very well and the playback for transcribing was very clear.

This records clearly and is easy to use. Can’t be to far away though

The recorder upholds Olympus' good repurtation for producing great hand recorders. This one records hours of good audio and is easy to learn to use. It is a lo-drain device with excellent screen indications; easy to carry and inconspicuous in practice. Best I have ever used. Eugene

I use this for paranormal investigations. It really picks up on the sounds that I cannot hear. Plenty of storage and you can add more with an SD card. I have yet to have problems with this product.

This is geat for taking voice notes for my class to study with in the car on my way to school. Easy to plug into computer and download.

Great for recording phone calls as it's very clear. It's an easy-to-use recorder!

I use this for dictation. It picks up my voice nicely and saves it to an MP3 file which can be used with Dragon NaturallySpeaking. The overall accuracy is very good. My only complaint is that if you hold the recorder to close to your mouth, it will pick up the wind noise from plosive phonics. The trick is to hold the recorder about 2 to 3 inches away and speak in a relatively normal voice. I've also tested this recorder in conversation, and it picks up both sides rather nicely. There's an excellent noise reduction mode during playback which eliminated the road noise recorded while I was driving. I haven't tried this for music, but it does have stereo microphones so I expect it will do a decent job. This is an excellent machine for anyone doing dictation or looking to share audio files recorded on the go.

I wanted a device that would be easy to use and that would let me transfer the files to my computer. The interviews I am using it for are very important and I could not risk losing them. It's working like a charm and I am able to upload the files easily into iTunes.

We really like this recorder. It's easy to use, has good sensitivity and isn't expensive. It's also very easy to move files from the recorder to your computer.

Bought it to record my moms stories before her Alzheimer's gets worse. Siblings use it also. Easy to use, small to carry, sounds goods

Replacement for a an older model, STILL a great value. Stereo recorder and MP3 player. I use this for practice my solo's. Great battery life and storage. Very Portable.
