Despite the speaker of the unit, I feel that the Olympus Digital Recorder was one of the best recorders I have ever used. It's very easy to setup and transferring the files to my PC took no time at all. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a digital voice recorder. I will admit that the sound quality when playing back recordings directly from the unit is awful and with headphones the sound only comes out of one side, but when played through my computer the sounds were of very good quality, not perfect, but exceeding my needs for the item.

This product is a little bit of a let down... My sony voice recorder just died. So I replaced it with this Olympus product. When I played it back in my head phones i was surprised it only came out of one side. Thought it was the head phones... I tried another pair and the same thing happened. I took the recorder back and exchanged it and when I got home I was disappointed to find that again it was just playing back out of one side of my headphones (thats just annoying) I called Olympus and they said "yes" it will only ever play out of one side... thats really lousy... every sony recording product I've every had... every mp3 player I have... they all have play back in both earphones.. doesn't seem like ground breaking technology.. I am returning this product and going back to sony...
