Customers are saying

Customers highly value the OMEN by HP laptop for its gaming capabilities, fast performance, and affordable price. Many users appreciate its large 17.3-inch display, powerful performance, and RGB keyboard. However, some users have concerns about its battery life, weight, limited storage, and RAM capacity, as well as the loud fan noise during gaming.

This is more of a portable desktop than a laptop. The speeds are insane, and the GPU and CPU combo insure ultra high quality gamplay on most games. Only problem is the thing weighs a lot. Which is a lot to take as a daily computer.

What a bargain. Couldn’t be happier. It does weigh quite a bit, so use on travel is tedious. But having the mobility while home is great. Runs everything I’ve thrown at it (PUBG, Battlefield 1, Forza 7). I do wish it could do better than 1080P.

It’s a very solid gaming laptop - I only want to upgrade the RAM to 16gigs but beyond that it plays everything I want Farcry 5 - The Withcher 3 - Final Fantasy XV with no issue. Very happy with this purchase.

Yes, the m.2 slot is in there, 2 slots for ram, 32 gb max, comes with 12 and I am swapping the hard drive for an SSD. Runs very snappy, and has enough upgrade options that I can probably use it for 4 years or so. Catch it on sale for less than 1k, and you can upgrade it to something really good as opposed to not bad.

I wouldn't normally buy to especially for gaming, but the price was right (under 1k) Pros. Large screen, 8gb dedicates graphics. Cons. The screen has strange light spots I was told they are normal. No SSD included no she drive. Over alli tho k it's was a good buy but it will need some upgrades.

I am satisfied with the speed of the laptop, even when playing games. It is a bit heavy, so it might not be something you want to cart around.

Overall a solid product. A little on the heavy side, but can handle a heavy workload. Mostly used for video editing. As with any larger computer, the battery can drain quickly depending on how hard you are using it.

This HP Omen with an i7 7700HQ and an 8GB RX580 is beautiful. You can use AMD's drivers with no issues. I've had a little trouble with graphic settings in Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition dropping from my 50 fps (1080p highest settings) to 30fps and not raising (still experimenting what causes this). The FFXV Benchmark on PC runs terrible (no idea why) only scoring 3100 on 1080p high in full screen, but plays the game great when settings are properly set. My version had an AMD FreeSync panel (hooray!) and has a little backlight bleed from the bottom left corner, bottom right corner, and mid top corner. I'm hoping I can pop the plastic off and put it back on to resolve this like an Alienware I had in the past. Overall I am happy with this as the out of box experience was phenomenal. I had issues getting an M.2 SSD to be my bootable drive but resolved this with Acronis True Image. I used a bootable media to create a backup of the HDD then used the command line of Acronis to use disk part and clean the HDD. After restoring the backup to the SSD and using diskpart for the HDD I am a very happy camper.

Not a bad computer, but not the greatest. Had to open it up and replace the thermal paste as it was just running too hot. Also added more RAM as it really doesn't have enough for gaming. Have found quite a few games we couldn't play with graphics turned up (if at all); it just couldn't support it. So, if you want a fancy computer for light gaming, it's perfect. For heavy gaming, it's "ok" ... you may want to look elsewhere.
