I bought this to use mostly for work, upgraded it to windows 10 pro. I do enjoy playing games with coworkers, as i work for a software design company.

The laptop is great and but instead we’ll. No a quick boot without sad but it has the sad option which helps immensely.using it for photos and videos... does so very welll doing both. Good item overall.

This laptop is great for its price. A great starter game laptop for people starting off in gaming laptops.

This laptop is everything I was looking for in a gaming laptop. The only drawback is that it doesn’t have an internal dvd drive. But I have an extra so I’m not bosthered by it b

Downside is heavy to carry. Rest it’s performing exceedingly well after 1 year.

This is a good laptop for playing games or internet surfing. The only draw back that changes this from being a great laptop to just a good laptop is the fact the skimp on disc drives on laptops now. They say there a outdated item. I prefer the disc drive myself. If that doesn’t matter to you then it’s going to be a great laptop for gaming. I just prefer the disc drive so that why I rate it a good buy not a great buy.

Was reluctant to purchase for my son’s first day of college thinking he was tricking me into buying a gaming computer. BUT he has gotten great use out of this. Almost 2 years later, it’s still going strong (cross my fingers). Graphics on here met minimum requirements from his engineering instructor. He uses this all day everyday and yes, he plays some games

Good computer but no cd rom didn’t know that. Display show a cd rom at Best Buy. But it’s good once you know the trick.

This computer has good sound, supports the music apps I use, and works well to play accompaniment and other music while iI play my pedal steel guitar.

I can recommend this HP Omen laptop. I use it for gaming, watching videos, and online activities. This laptop is pretty large and so it is better used as the desktop replacement that it is. I added a M.2 SSD and now it boots up really fast, with the 1TB drive used for storage. If you want a 17" laptop or a moderately-priced gaming laptop, you should consider this one.

The laptop is a beast. Only downside is poor battery. Doesn't bother me tho

I am not an expert in computers, but I wanted a 17” computer that I could edit my home videos from my canon 70d with. A good friend who knows computers really well picked this for me, as it had the most options for the price. Have only used this a little while but it’s fast! Enjoying it so far. Love having the lighted keyboard for when I sit in front of tv and work.

It was more difficult than I expected to write a review on this laptop. The Omen series is HP’s attempt to provide a budget-minded gaming laptop, which is very nearly an oxymoron. The result is a machine which exemplifies both the best and worst of what a gaming laptop is. As a gaming platform, the Omen is impressively built. With an i7 processor and the latest Radeon GPU, it’s enough to run just about anything you throw at it with ease. It can even drive a VR headset, one of the most demanding benchmarks that a portable machine can meet. To that end it also comes with a variety of perks aimed specifically at gamers. The anti-ghosting keyboard complete with six dedicated macro keys and highlighted WASD keys is a pleasure to type on. It’s also provided with complete illumination which you can set to only highlight the keys most relevant to gaming if you’re using it in an environment with low lighting. As someone who’s admittedly a bit of a snob when it comes to gaming computers, I’m very happy with the Omen’s performance overall. And if that’s not enough for you, with the removal of a single panel at the bottom you have the option to upgrade the RAM and HDD. The thing is that if you use it for anything other than a gaming platform, the sacrifices that HP made to provide this much functionality at this price point start to become more apparent. The battery will give you less than an hour’s gaming time on its own. In power saving mode, using it only for word processing and web browsing, I struggled to get even three hours out of it. Not that it matters that much, because the size and weight of the system is enough to make it far too bulky to regularly carry around. The heat it kicks out also makes using it on your lap to be pretty much a non-starter, even with the “CoolSense” utility that attempts to limit the amount of heat generated when it isn’t sitting on a desk. You also won’t get a lot of the features that you’d usually expect to see on a high-end Windows laptop. The webcam isn’t compatible with the facial recognition login for Windows 10, the trackpad feels rather cheap, and they’re using a single traditional hard disk drive in place of lighter and more power conscious SSDs. What this boils down to is that the Omen is probably best described as more of a portable gaming desktop than it is as a laptop. If you’re just looking for something that will let you set up and play games wherever there’s a power outlet and space for an external mouse, I think you’ll be very hard pressed to find something better at this price point. But if you’re looking to have just a single laptop which can do everything and play your games too, this might not be the best choice for you.

My gaming experience is way better at a reasonable price. Multitasking at it's finest.

Hands down the largest laptop I’ve ever seen. Screen is HD and the clarity is excellent. Makes photo editing a breeze.

great computer ran ok my old one was faster and this one didnt have a cd drive which i needed only reason i returned it
