On Dangerous Ground
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On Dangerous Ground is an ideal film noir vehicle to showcase the talents of Ida Lupino and Robert Ryan. It is my favorite Lupino role.

Another excellent Warner Archive release
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have any interest at all in Nicholas Ray (REBEL W/OUT A CAUSE), Ida Lupino (ROAD HOUSE and a host of remarkable films she herself directed), Robert Ryan (THE WILD BUNCH, THE DIRTY DOZEN, and many, many others), or US film noir, pick this up. After decades of fair-to-poor transfers that didn’t do justice to its gorgeous B&W cinematography, this film finally gets its due. Scary, tragic, and deeply affecting, ODG demonstrates how sublime Ryan was at channeling postwar male anomie, and how focused Ray was on making viewers feel it—deeply. And Lupino? As remarkable a professional as any actor in her time, our time, or any other.

Ida Lupino
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ida Lupino is always great. She lifts this strange, dark film to a new level. It becomes a gem of compassion and pain, one of the finest of the Film noir genre in my opinion. One not to miss.Acting by all of the principals, and most of the minor players, is very good.
