This was entertaining, but a little wacky. I guess I was expecting something different. Both actors did a wonderful job though, and the SteelBook looks great.

Although the cover leaves something to be desired, the back pic of Brandy makes up for it!! Quality production on the discs (both 4K and standard BD), and the sound is top notch. Worth every penny!!

One of my favorite movies of the year. DiCaprio and Pitt in multiple fun storylines under Tarantino. Good extras on 4K DVD.

I really enjoyed this movie. Brad Pitt does a great job as supporting actor. If only life ended the way this movie does. Fun to watch.

A Fairly Tale Ending For Sharon Tate!

Wouldn't it be great if we could re-write history? Quentin Tarantino does just that with this film. This is a masterpiece and the ending is so satisfying. The 4k quality is on point. A must have for your collection.

Viewing ONCE UPON A TIME…IN HOLLYWOOD is a visit to the 1960s – California/Hollywood style. Quentin Tarantino both wrote and directed this very long and lugubrious film that features some very fine acting but requires more than a dollop of patience to make it to the clever final scene. The ‘idea’ is to recreate Hollywood and the months leading up to the entrance of Charles Manson’s tribe, as the infamous night in 1969 becomes a theatrical twist of facts. Leonardo DiCaprio is convincing as a has-been action star Rick Dalton and Brad Pitt is excellent as his stunt double Cliff Booth. Tarantino convincingly intertwines tidbits of the life of Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and Roman Polanski (Rafal Zawierucha) and their third party Jay Sebring (Emil Hirsch), leading us to think the film will end with the Tate et al murders, but the road to that end is twisted and cleverly altered – like Hollywood. Other key actors include the very fine young Julia Butters, Al Pacino, Bruce Dern, Luke Perry, Timothy Olyphant, Margaret Qualley et al. The movie is very long, spending an excessive amount of focus on cigarette smoking and the use of the ‘f word’ and endless cinematic production takes, but the overall effect of the film – in retrospect – is how clever Tarantino used these ‘flaws’ to bring the 60’s Hollywood to life. This may not be a film for everyone, but the piece works – it just needs patience.

Synopsis: Past-his-prime actor Rick Dalton and his stunt double Cliff Booth must come to grips with careers that are in their twilight during the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema. This movie is Tarantino's love letter to the 50's and 60's of Hollwood in it's glory days. His cinephile really shows with glamorous sets and fantastic attention to detail. With a cast the likes of DiCaprio, Pitt, and Pacino the acting is without a doubt top notch. Unfortunately, Margot Robbie is ridiculously underused in a part that gives her little to work with. Brad Pitt absolutely steals every scene with that characteristic charisma as an aging stunt double and best friend to DiCaprio's Rick Dalton who is a waning superstar trying to recapture the limelight. The story is kind of light on plot and is more of a documenting of Dalton's career as he tries to find a way back into the world of A-list actors after a string of guest spots as mostly villains who are killed off. Set in the summer of 1969, Ray lives in the house next door to director Roman Polanski and wife Sharon Tate. As such, we are obviously treated to the likes of Charles Manson and the 'family' making appearances throughout, as well as Bruce Lee, Steve McQueen and other Hollywood Elite of the era. As expected, this flick is heavy on dialogue which is part of Tarantino's schtick. Well crafted and clever as usual, mostly every scene is pretty easy to watch bar some of the Robbie stuff (mainly the theatre scene) that could've been cut. But, if you're looking for that characteristic hyper-violence you've come to expect out of a Tarantino film, you're gonna have to wait til the final twenty minutes. But man do those twenty minutes deliver. Wow. Witty, but not as wild. Clever, but not as cutthroat. Definitely signature stuff and a pretty good movie with just a few flaws. 8/10

Another awesome movie by Quentin Taratino starring Brad Pitt and Matt Damon about Hollywood fixers who have a run in with Charles Manson's family. By the ending you'll be jumping from the edge of your seat with surprise and laughter. NOT FOR KIDS!!!!! The 4K UHD is really the best version of this film with a good amount of special features to enjoy after the movie. Would recommend for any Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, or Quentin Taratino Film fans.

    Once Upon aTime in Hollywood

Quentin Tarantino enters the area of his own industry with this plot about a fading TV actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double (Brad Pitt) who strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood's Golden Age in 1969 L.A. The plot of this buddy comedy/drama revolves around the 2 actors trying to make a comeback, which gets them involved in the Italian spaghetti western industry. The protagonists (if there are any in a Tarantino film) in this Hollywood plot are interwoven casually with the members of the Manson gang at the time of the Sharon Tate murders. The names of the characters mix several real life (although deceased) individuals with the members of the fictional cast to bring historical notes to the competing plots. The characterizations aren't without controversy, but that is just what Tarantino does in all his films.

Quentin Tarantino again masters in creating a cinema masterpiece of bygone 70's Hollywood, but accurately portrayed in every details and with a climax that sets viewers on their heels. In a fictionalized tale of a has been actor, Leonardo Di Caprio, and his loyal stunt double, Brad Pitt, in a slowly driven tale that weaves itself into retelling the Sharon Tate murder by the Manson family with a surprising new twist will joyfully boggle you in a climatic ending that will be remembered for all times to come. Tarantino has created yet another masterpiece in cinema as only he can create, direct and bring the the screen with delicious excitement and surprise. Buy it and be entertained, surprised and carried along in a tale of Hollywood only Quentin Tarantino's genius can make movie truly movie magic.

While I never felt truly let down by the director, I do feel that his work has changed since the death of his editor. Django Unchained and Hateful Eight were a step down, to me, from all that came before. Still this kind of criticism is nitpicky when you come from such a lofty library. This is a great director doing what he does in high standard. It has the fury of IB yet having the tenderness of JB, and all the tension of his Mexican standoffs. To name examples of that would be to diminish how great this man still is. The movie length is key. The ending would not work with editing. Great payoff comes with investment. Wonderful 4K image and Dolby Atmos out of this world. This is a perfect release.

I pretty much have enjoyed all of Tarantino’s movies. My favorites have been Inglorious B, Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Once Upon a Time is right up there. The story is long and slow paced but DiCaprio and Pitt make the 2 1/2+ hours enjoyable. Margot Robbie is also very good in the purposely understated role of Sharon Tate. I think Tarantino kept her dialogue limited because he didn’t want to patronize her memory. Great story with a fantastic ending (which I won’t spoil). The 4K Blue Ray looks absolutely stunning. The Steelbook version also looks great.

Saw this one a while after it came out, and I finally bought a copy for myself. It's a long movie that moves rather slowly at times, but its exceptionally entertaining. It's cast very well, and the storyline ends up drawing you into it. Do Not Miss the last half hour or so of this movie! The ending will blow you away!

Quintin Tarantino‘s movies are so creative, the man is a genius . Pulp fiction, inglorious bstrds, hateful 8, and now once upon a time in Hollywood, are of his best. I wish they would let his movies be 4 hours long I would gladly sit through every minute, but they edit him down to acceptable movie theater length. I would love to see one of his movies in full length as he intends before all the editing. I love the Marvel universe and the Star Wars stuff, but thank God for people like Tarantino who also give us thrill rides where we have no idea what is going to happen next. This is truly the spice in film viewing pleasure.
