Paul Sorvino has become a go-to guy for Mob movies, but this one was not the usual shoot-'em-up crime caper. Instead, Sorvino & co-star Michael Rapaport played very heartfelt dramatic roles that made you sympathize for Sorvino as the aged capo who served 20 years in prison and is released early due to his failing health. You get to see a new millennium version of how an ex-prisoner with a commanding reputation copes with his re-entry to a community that has become estranged to him. What makes this film special is the emphasis on the character's re-entry to humanity and how he changed to suit the times, not focusing so much on his criminal notoriety, which had lost its potency while he was in prison. A very moving, touching story of love, loss, redemption, forgiveness and change.
