Present day New Zealand. The new detective assigned to a small town is Maori. He also has parapsychology leanings. They manifest themselves in visions of past and present deceased. The visions help and hinder a current murder investigation.
This is a police procedural drama. The cast is excellent. (Fans of “Doctor Blake” mysteries will recognize a central character.). The story well written and well acted. The production as a whole very well done. It also takes itself very seriously. There are almost no “light moments” or humor. Language is modern, believable and can be objectionable in spots. The overall tone is dark.

Very gripping, intense with so many mysterious clues it really kept you spellbound at first and had so much potential, but as you reached the last episode they clearly didn't think this out well because there were so many unanswered questions, clues that were never brought to fruition and the ending was bizarre with no explanation to the final death. I don't know if season 2 will clear this up or the new season will be an entirely new story line. We'll see I guess.
