This is a nice upgrade from a Kenwood I had for 15+ years. Still works , but needed an upgrade to compliment my 92' Mitsubishi. We are still piecing together the 7.1, so that is why 4 stars, cause I hope there is more when it is finished. The sound is crisp and the bass is great through the Bose speakers, but my sub died a few months ago, so that is next..... Overall, I like the control I have over all systems with one remote (DTV remote) and the wife is happy!

My old TX-NR806 finally gave out and was looking to replace it. Also, I had bought a 4K tv so wanted to upgrade to get the best picture. When I hooked everything up (4K DVD player, directv, playstation) the picture improved so much. Even my wife, who usually doesn't pay too much attention to the picture said that it looked amazing!

For the price it has outstanding features.... especially if you have already ...or are about to go to ...4K video. If you have a large existing set up with many older pre HDMI components I recommend studying the back panel photo to make sure you will have the inputs and outputs you need, but for the modern HDMI setup the unit is great.

I use my reciever for blu ray movies to get the best sound possible and this thing gets the job done! Plenty of power that sounds loud and clear. The only reason I rated it 4 stars is do to the fact you can't connect your iPod directly to the receiver you have to use Bluetooth and they changed the display window to only show what source your using and not show you what sound is being output. No complaints in the sound department your ears will smile.

Powerful Home Theater Amplifier

Onkyo has the reputation of producing fine audio products. I had to replace my original Onkyo amp with a new model due to a lightning strike. (Yes, it and all my other audio and electronics is/was connected to a surge protector.) My advise is to either spend much more on a good surge protector or better yet, unplug everything during an electrical storm. The Onkyo receiver has all the features you could ever want to power and control your theater system. I did find it rather unusual that the speaker connections are either screw-in or banana-plug. The problem lies withing the fact that the banana-plugs are configured differently than on most other products, including my dead Onkyo receiver. You are unable to use a double banana-plug for speaker connections. You have to single plugs, which is totally ridiculous and inconvenient. I don't understand that at all. A design glitch to say the least. Other than that, this receiver puts out enough power and clean sound to do structural damage to your room. The remote is straight-forward and similar to other remotes. Outside of the speaker connection problem, this is a fine unit at a good price.

This is my first Onkyo, it replaced my Harman Kardon 3700 and was primarily to be able to connect true 4K sources through an AVR. The setup was a bit different than some other brands, but not complicated at all.
Superb sound, easily as good as the Harman Kardon line.

I replaced my Sony 7-1 w/ 110 watts per channel,(which I really liked), with this unit.
The improvement is amazing. 4K up-scaling is tremendous.
Set-up is easy and the sound is really great.
Sound separation & location is the best that I had heard.

Bought this to replace a Pioneer 1130-K I don't know what it was with the Pioneer but all my videos sources looked washed out and made the blacks gray. This reciever sounds even better than that Pioneer and it doesn't degrade the video signals at all.

Easy to setup, although you must follow the automatic protocol to start, then you can manually tweak the settings. Volume seems to be limited in comparison with my old unit, but it is sufficient for daily use. It allows for a lot of preset channels--that's a plus. Reception is good--able to pickup many channels at a great distance.

This is my second Onkyo receiver that i have purchased. I used be a big Denon fan, but have had way too many issues for the $$$. Since I have switched to Onkyo, I have been very pleased with the quality, options available and the ease of use.

This setup is state of the art and extremely easy.
I recommend implementing 7:1 setup.

Awesome doesn't even begin to describe this receiver. It has everything you could want. I can't imagine someone having anything bad to say about it. It is expensive, but don't skimp on your receiver, or speakers.

I bought this to replace a Sony ES line receiver, which bit the dust during a lightning storm. This unit is far beyond what my Sony was in performance and features. Easy to set up and easy to operate.
