This receiver was recommended to me by a Best Buy sales rep bc I needed a quality receiver with a low height profile. Had to get it through BB online bc the store didn't have one. I can actually hear the difference from my old one. I suspect this is due to the room optimization process that the receiver has. Good value.

I had never purchased an Onkyo receiver but I had always heard great things. I went to Best Buy to purchase a denon receiver that was on sale but when I got there it wasn't on sale anymore so I decided to save $80 and go with this one. Boy am I glad I did! This receiver sounds amazing and was well worth the $199 I spent on it. Definitely going to buy Onkyo again in the future!

Bought this to replace an older Onkyo 5.1 receiver with a blown right front channel. The HDMI pass thru makes this so much easier to set up and supports 4K. The AccuEQ acoustic calibration seems to work fairly well and the surround sound is definitely better then the predecessor, I'm using a Harmony Hub and Alexa to control this receiver, TV and DirecTV receiver with voice commands. I have yet to try the USB and Bluetooth streaming since I use a Sonos setup for music playback. Having said that Best Buy is now selling the Onkyo Model:TX-SR393 for $13 less which is essentially the same but includes the Dolby ATMOS decoder for those interested in making an investment into vertically firing speakers.

At first I was intimidated by the Onkyo receiver as there was so many options to it. But after I got started everything was simple to hook up to including my television and we were off to the movies in a matter of minutes. The power and sound quality that comes out of this Onkyo receiver is unbelievable and I would recommend this to anyone and everyone who's looking for that big theater sound. Then when you're done watching the movie turn on the receiver and listen to the radio or hook up a CD player and listen to your favorite CDs from the 80s and 90s. This receiver can do so many things why wouldn't you want one?

Warm sound, plenty of power, easy to operate. Didn't like the setup menus much but comes with a calibration mic anyway so you won't spend much time in the setup menus any way.

We were looking for an HDMI switching surround receiver for a game room for DVD's, game systems, etc.... This has the right amount of hookups, is the right size to fit in a media cabinet, and produces great sound. I love the easy source switching buttons on the front. The kids are able to use it intuitively. Great brand at a great price.

If you just need a decent 5.1 surround sound system, then this is perfect. Piece of cake to set up and easy to operate. Plenty of power for my needs.

I bought this receiver for my rec-room home theater. I matched it with a good set of speakers (SVS Prime Satellite) and am very satisfied with the results. I'm running cable TV, streaming boxes and other components through the receiver. The only thing it doesn't support is a phonograph. Excellent value.

Nice looking system with good power to speakers, works well with the BOSE system at home. Easy to navigate, nice to have bluetooth and the 4k pass through.

I consider myself a fairly discerning ear and have some understanding of playback quality and good sound reproduction and with that being said, this Onkyo receiver pleasantly surprised me with its performance, especially considering the low price point. This Onkyo, with almost no tuning adjustments will produce sounds right of the box that will far exceed most entry level users expectations, but it also has the capability to be precision tuned for a higher quality, custom setup. This receiver offers great functionality, versatility and quality for a tremendous value.

Our ONKYO ran for about 6 months, connected to an Epson projector via HDMI, then suddenly the Epson could not find the signal. I first spoke with an ONKYO customer support rep who convinced me my HDMI cable was no longer completing the handshake with the Epson. The cable is only 14 feet, so not a very long run, but following the rep's suggestion, I invested in a J-Tech transmitter and receiver to send the signal over ethernet with two short 3' HDMI cables on either end. Still no signal. So I went and bought a new television so that I could get it close enough to the ONKYO to connect with just a 3 foot HDMI cable. Still no signal. I just got off the line with "support," and they connected me with a service center in New York. (I live in Delaware and the rep was geographically challenged, as he first said the nearest repair center was in Illinois.) I just got off the phone with assistance at this repair center, and it turns out I have to send the receiver in at my expense, then wait for two weeks or so for a repair. What a runaround! I have now heard that ONKYOs are notorious for bad HDMI ports, so if you value your time and want to avoid frustration and going without a receiver, by all means, BUY ANOTHER BRAND.

Needed to replace my old Pioneer in the game room and this one filled the need just right. Paired up with the Infinity surround speakers, the sound is clean, though I would like a little better response on the lows. Other than that, it's fairly good.

I bought this receiver because I wanted Bluetooth so I could stream music from my ipad. The sound quality is outstanding and the price is right. It was also very easy to hook up.

This receiver does not have all of the bells and whistles of some but it is a good entry level receiver for those on a budget. It definitely fits the bill for my need of HDMI switching and Bluetooth capability with good surround features.
