HDMI from components, 1 hdmi to the t.v and voilla. Speaker wire hook up, and plug it into power. The replaced unit was a state of the art Pioneer receiver from more than 20 years ago...Cost 3 times as much, and didnt sound as good. This one rocks.

I was needing a 4K receiver to compliment a new 4K tv. This did the trick. Great 4K pass through, latest audio codecs. It is plenty powerful to power 7 speakers.

This receiver pumps outs a lot of power and when paired with the right speakers, some amazing sounds! The best thing I love about it though is that it's so intuitive! And you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to set it up.

This is a great product for the price. It has 5.1 surround sound, a second zone we use for the patio, and works very well with the iPhone and Bluetooth or Pandora for music. I don't use the remote but use a Harmony Elite to operate all equipment. It recognized and worked with the receiver the first time.

This is my first time purchasing an Onkyo Receiver, and I bought the TX 7.2, 4k ultra HD, and 3d Passthrough, along with Bluetooth, Dolby, and Chromecast abilities. I must say, I am very impressed with the quality of this receiver! I absolutely love it, and I can't believe I waited so long to purchase this brand. Im now a long-term fan and customer!

Bought to upgrade my surround sound in family room. Also wanted to hook up my patio speakers to zone 2. Had to call Onkyo to figure out how to set up zone 2 but after a short call had working just fine. Manuals could be a little better.

This is by far the best receiver I’ve ever owned. The sound is amazing and the price I paid was reasonable too. I love the fact that it has Dolby Atmos.

The Onkyo sound good, and works reasonably easily. However I was a bit frustrated in the setup. Some of the choices didn't seem to match my system setup. Somehow I ended up not "having" a sub woofer even though the test tones sent signal to it and it played them . After a few days of no sub I started reading the manual again and found what I could do to make it understand it was there. That solved it.
I don't really rock the room with my volume, but what I have heard seems good and clean.
Getting your fingers and wires in the appropriate place for the speaker connections is a little tough, but since you only really need to do that once in a long time, it is not too much of a pain.
There is a great deal of the functionality that I haven't gotten to yet, and doubt that I will.

We purchased the Onkyo to replace a Yamaha receiver in our game room because we needed more HDMI ports and support for 4K.
Setup was a snap and works perfectly with our Logitech Harmony One. On the plus side, the Onkyo allows you to hook up older Component Video and Composite Video devices and output them through the HDMI Out.

This receiver works fine for driving a 7.1 surround with a bit of adjustment. By default the main towers and center drown out the surrounds, this can be adjusted however. Wish is the default would push more power to the surround channels, but for the price it's hard to beat

First of all, it's B I G. Make sure you have ample room for the unit.
Second of all, there seem to be some issues with 4K HDR passthrough, particularly with PS4. They are fixable but annoying.
Other than that, it's a pretty great receiver for a pretty great price.

I traded up from an Onkyo 7.2 N470 to the NR-676 and it makes a big difference. Sound is crisper, the menu has an obvious update, the back panel is way more orgainzed and it has bluetooth for wireless speakers. I would highly recommend this receiver to anyone. Paying less than $300 for a 7.2 Surround sound with Atmos is a no brainer.

This is my second Onkyo receiver that I've purchased within the past 6 months. This is not a replacement but rather another receiver for another room in my house. Absolutely love it, so easy to use (with the app) and sounds great! So many different options you can choose from. Cannot say enough great things about it.

I love this receiver. More than enough inputs to connect all my TV products and game systems plus all the connections for cd, tape and record player.
Throw in Wi-Fi internet connection, 4k video pass-through, built in streaming audio and round it out with Dolby Atmos surround sound and I don't think it can be beat for the price.

Onkyo makes excellent equipment with beefy amplifiers that are typically rated beyond the specs they advertise.
I found this AVR to be excellent in quality and worked as a good 4K HDR replacement for my Onkyo TX-NR646. I like Onkyo equipment and wanted to stick with the brand.
I did encounter one issue, however, in that, with Dolby Vision and format/framerate match enabled on my Apple TV 4K, the screen would flicker and flash black or an array of colors. I swapped cables and HDMI ports on the AVR, and tried 3 different units based on the advice of Onkyo support.
In the end, I believe the issue was with a bad/loose HDMI port on the TV, which I didn't catch until after returning all 3 units. So, while I assume that was the issue, I can't know for sure it wasn't at least in part with the AVR.
The one downside I noticed with all of the video resetting/format switching is that the Onkyo is particularly slow in switching A/V formats, as compared to Denon AVRs, which are much faster switching color spaces, bit depths, and framerates.

To make a long story short, this is an upgrade from a ten-year-old Onkyo receiver. The previous was a 7.1 receiver, but it wasn't Atmos ready. This one is. The disappointing thing is that the audyssey Auto setup did not really work well, just like the first one. It never really set up the room to a good sound. Also, the power doesn't really seem to be as stated. In order to get a comprable volume from the new receiver, it has to be on about 50, compared to what used to be about 40 on the older receiver. This one is supposed to have more power. That being said, it sounds good. I like the on-screen controls. I also like the built-in network features. If I had it to do over, I might have bought the next model up. The biggest reason for my initial upgrade was the previous model had HDMI pass-through. I had to connect either a coaxial or optical cable to my external device to get the audio to come through. I know this seems like an unfavorable review, but I actually like the receiver. But I may change to something else, before too long. I'll just sell this one at a discount.
