    Installation at Best Buy - Lame!

    After purchasing this product there was a very long wait for installation at my local Best Buy. The price does include the basic installation, however, my local store needed to charge an additional $5. Who knows? Anyway, after leaving my car on-site all day, I was called thinking all was good to go and was told that I needed to have my rear view mirror mounting replaced as they didn't like it, then schedule a new appointment and come back. I asked if there was anything that could be done - I was told that since my glass was replaced, they didn't like how the glass company mounted my mirror and I should "talk to them." Lame. I am returning my $400 onstar fmv to the store very disappointed.

    Refused to install

    Had very poor experience from the beginning. When I was looking at the product in the showroom the technicians were trying to talk me out of buying it. Bought it for wife as a Christmas present, called to set up appointment and technician asked if I had any cracks in my windshield, I said yes, a small one (3inches) that has been repaired. He said it would be fine. Went to drop off car, and the technician told me that they would not install it, that any chips or cracks were unacceptable. He said they have only installed one and the customer just bought a brand new windshield. Not sure why this crack was off to the side, very small and repaired. You can't even see it unless you look very close. Pretty sure there are many Chevys running around with damaged windshields and their system works fine. Question is if you get it installed and you get a crack in your windshield will that void the warranty?! Technician blamed it on the strict standards of Onstar. Not happy, the wife was really looking forward to it....guess I'm sleeping on the couch tonight, thanks Best Buy.

    I purchased this item online and cannot get it installed locally. I emailed Best Buy for help and did not receive the courtesy of a reply to assist me with the situation. Do not buy this item online!!!!!!!!!

    Best Buy Installer Killed This For Me

    I purchased the mirror the Sunday it became available, and set up an install appointment for three days later. Unfortunately, as I was driving to the appointment, the installer called to inform me that he did not have the proper adhesive, and that I would need to reschedule. As I was moving cross-country the following week, and had other appointments carved out the rest of the week associated with moving and selling a house, I was unable to reschedule. If the installer had called me earlier, or had he bothered to take the three days notice he had to obtain the proper adhesive, this would not have been a problem. I am not typing this review on a new laptop I purchased from Costco. I was set to buy from Best Buy until this experience, and I have since purchased applicances for my new house at other stores to avoid Best Buy.

    dead zones

    When I purchased this I was unaware that there are many dead zones like errol nh and many other places. Even when tom tom works in errol nh onstar had nothing. I was lucky to have the tom tom or I would have been lost. I purchased mostly for the emergency assitance but that does not work in the areas where I would need it. I wish I took the time to look online for dead zone reviews.

    DIDN'T WORK

    Somewhere between the Geek Squad that installed the unit and OnStar, someone fudged. The system still doesn't work -- even with multiple calls and at least seven attempts to activate. My suggestion, activate while at Best Buy to eliminate all confusion about who is responsible.
