So Far So Good for House Phone

So far so good, not getting a lot of use as it's mostly a backup type phone. I'm in a 3 story townhouse and want to know I can always reach a phone in an emergency regardless of where my cell phone might be or its level of charge. I bought a set of 3 cordless phones to go with it. I think I had some minor issues setting it up and might have even had to call Customer Support or go googling, but overall, the problems were minor enough that I don't remember the details just a couple of weeks later (besides being old, I just moved and have a LOT going on, but I definitely remember things that are a big hassle). I do remember that every time I unplugged it to try it in a different location, it had to go through a resetting process (flashing light) before being ready for use again. The normal light is blue and I think it is too bright so I put darkening plastic film over it. If ooma servicing, billing, etc., turns out to be as good as this product, this is a way cheaper alternative than getting a phone through my internet provider.

Best kept secret to have the feel of a landline for little money per month. Easy to connect via ethernet or wifi. OOMA has great tech support if you need it.

This device is easy to install. I ported my existing phone number over and it only took 7 days. They assign a phone number you can use until your original number becomes available. Voice quality very good and blocks all unwanted calls.

The Ooma 4G was getting expensive so had to get this one because the cheapest plan that i could get was free (taxes not included) and for 2 dollars a month more ( taxes not included) i can get spam blocking. So it'll pay for itself in a year.

The Ooma was easy to set up and we are able to keep our original landline phone number. Answering machine function included so no need to answer phone, just listen to message later. Big monthly savings over landline

I'm really torn. I had to return my Telo Air because on long distance calls I got an echo. In retrospect I don't know if that was my Telo Air or my older cordless phone. Ooma offered to diagnose but I had to return it before the Best Buy return by date expired. Ooma support is kinda good. Friendly people that are polite and really try hard. Hard trouble getting men to connect to my WiFi but they stuck with it and figured it out after maybe 2days. Ooma has a Dashboard website that is neat and convenient and actually I think this is well thought out. If I had more time to test the system, I would have stuck it out. I may try again.

Works great on my DSL network but not on my AT&T cellular hotspot (think it’s a fault with AT&T). Also, it did not work on the 5G wireless but works fine on 2G.

So far I have had to call Ooma several times with problems. It works & then it doesnt, which would be a problem if calling 911 & it doesnt work.. The people I am calling are saying my voice cuts out every few words. It sounds more like the example on web sight of the competitors voice. We bought the more expensive wireless Ooma & am not happy so far. Thinking of returning it. Glad I didnt port my other number from cable company yet & pay $40. If problems arent resolved, then I wouldnt recommend Ooma especially for the money it cost. Premise is good with monthly paying $6 for taxes only if it worked as reviews said when researching Ooma vs. Magic Jack. As of now I would not recommend this Ooma. If Ooma resolves issues before my time runs out to return, I will amend my review.

I have used a number of different voip systems and so far this ranks better than most. The exception at this point was the system provided by my cable company. However that cost considerably more and was only slightly better. Oomas customer service was knowledgeable and friendly after you got past the level one guys although they were also quite good.

The unit itself is high quality, as is the call quality. I mark it down in value because the actual monthly cost is far higher than the estimator on their website that I used prior to purchasing. I know its mostly government fees, but over $16/mo for the most basic service just isn't worth it. I only us this line for junk calls, so probably getting rid of it altogether soon.
