Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the Telo Internet Home Phone Service, especially the call quality and ease of use. Many also appreciate the low cost, overall reliable performance, and simple setup. The availability of many features is also a plus for users. A few customers, however, have expressed concerns about the porting process.

Great replacement for a land line through an ISP.

This excellent device allowed my landline phone to function directly over the internet for a much lower monthly fee than my previous Internet Service Provider (ISP). Once my phone number was ported from the old ISP to Ooma, I could plug this device into my router and connect it to my home phone wiring, so that all my phone extensions were served by it. The sound quality is excellent. Various plans are available from Ooma, from the minimal one (just local taxes), to premium plans with special services (messages, call blocking, etc.). Even the premium plan costs less than what my previous ISP was charging me for this landline service.

We needed a cheap home phone and tried to get one through our internet provider but they kept sending defective systems. This has been awesome. We are able to have a home phone and the convenience of knowing we can always get ahold of our teenage son.

Great timing for us as Verizon Residential was changing to Frontier. Our home monthly was ~ $60 with taxes, fees, and line maintenance. OOMA has worked flawlessly. Signed up for the premium service to save on the 40$ port cost. Has been worth it, and can re-evaluate next year to see if premium ($15/mo) still needed. Basic is less than $5/mo. Sound quality has been great for our needs. Certainly worth a look for those of you thinking about VOIP.

Was looking for a replacement for BasicTalk to avoid the monthly charge. This purchase was intended for bare bones "landline" service (with call waiting and caller ID of course, and mandatory 911 service). Did not subscribe to Ooma Premium because the monthly charge would have been the same as BasicTalk. So no monthly charge but $6.74 in state/local taxes and fees. Ooma did give me free $50 credit for international calls, and at 2.5 cents per minute, that will last a long time. Only drawback to Ooma basic service is that caller ID is number only -- no name attached to number. And Ooma does explain that outgoing caller ID is dependent on multiple caller ID data bases beyond their control. So be prepared for your outgoing caller ID to have the wrong name attached to it, at least for a while Voice quality is excellent. I'm more than satisfied with what I pay.

I was paying $50+ a month for a land line that we only keep around because cell phone reception is iffy in our house. Our service was through the cable company so it was already internet connection dependent. Ooma paid for itself in less than 3 months. We didn't need the extra features they give you for $10/mo so we skipped that. They said it would take up to 4 weeks (if I remember right) to transfer our existing number but it only took 4 days. So far I'm really satisfied with the whole thing. No complaints whatsoever.

I'm a long time OOMA user and a lightening surge took out my existing telo that I had for about 9 years. This new one was an unwelcomed expense but I'm very happy with my purchase. This new router is much better at handling calls without audio errors. Sounds quality has improved substantially through my VTECH phone system. I have 2 separate phone numbers along with the LYNX connectivity and it handles all without issue. I hope I get the same longevity as the other unit. Highly recommended!

Set up was easy and it works great. It works with my old regular landline device. Porting old number took less than a week. Saving me a lot of money with the switch. Very happy with the purchase.

OOMA uses your internet connection for telephone service. It is very simple to set up an account and activate your OOMA device. You have the opportunity to select a phone number. I wanted to port my existing landline number for their one time fee. I did that but you still have to select a number even for the temporary period. The number was ported within a few days. No problems with the service and highly recommend. You can't beat the monthly price of a couple of dollars per month.

For resdential use, Oom has really come along. These units are really good quality and I have had no problems with any of the 3 I have purchased so far. The setup is very easy and you can be up and running in no time. I have gotten very good voice quality on each unit and the voicemail is very good as well. You really can't beat the monthly cost if you stick with the basic plan.

The Ooma Telo is a system I found when I was finally fed up with paying a large amount of money for my small use of landline service. Ooma does cost a bit more to start but the costs catch up once you've had it for a few months (15$ or less a month - including local taxes versus 4-5X as much for a landline.) Very clear, no problems in connection, and setup was pretty easy. I would also recommend getting their phone since it wirelessly connects to the Telo. Again costs more upfront but it pays for itself.

I purchased this Ooma device so that I could drop my Comcast home phone in an effort to lower my monthly Comcast bill. This Ooma phone works great! Crystal clear and very easy to set up. It works just as well as the Comcast phone did. It has a mobile app so that you can make or receive calls from your smart phone using your home phone number. You can also set it up so that your smart phone rings when your home phone rings. They also text you and e-mail you an audio file when you get a voice mail. Highly recommend!

Bought this to replace our Spectrum VoIP and couldn’t be happier. Setup was simple, got it on and activated, ported our number within two days. Calls are great and absolutely no issues. Only add on I’d recommend unless you’re planning on it sitting next to your router the Ethernet cable it comes with is short, invest in a nice long run of shielded cat6a and you can setup elsewhere.

We are very satisfied with this product. The voice quality is superior to our former land line. We ported our old land line number with no problem at all. Installation was a snap. Of course you need reliable high speed internet in order to use any VOIP service, including this one. It is also helpful to have a router with an open Ethernet port near an electrical outlet for straightforward installation. The only negative I've encountered so far is the quirky nature of the web-based user interface.

Good bye ATT and large land line charges. Ooma is only $3.99 a month and works great. Just plug in and ready to go. Kept my old phone number for a one time fee of $39.00 Should have switched years ago

We recently dropped our home phone through the phone company. We still wanted a home phone without the ever increasing monthly payments. We are very pleased with our Ooma phone. We decided not to import our previous home phone number because of the $40 one time fee. You still have to pay monthly taxes, but the service is free. The $5 - $6 monthly tax fee is considerably less than our previous monthly phone bill. It was very simple to install. We would recommend the Ooma phone!

Purchased for relative who needed to return to a regular cordless home phone instead of smartphone. Easy set up. Nice slim looking design. Up and running quickly. Calls seem clear and works as it should. I haven't ported the number yet so we'll see how that goes.

This has been a good service so far. We converted from another VOIP from our cable provider. I use the premium service so that I can go online and work on blocking calls which is reasonably OK, but the online web interface is extremely dated and clunky overall.

If you're thinking of going VOIP, you should just stop and get Ooma. Just so simple to set up and so very reliable. This is the second one I purchased, this one for my father. I think in all the years I had Ooma, I only needed customer service once. Just one bit of advice. If you're going to port your current phone number to your new VOIP, DON'T DISCONNECT YOUR OLD SERVICE TILL THE NUMBER HAS PORTED. Your current carrier could be stinkers and spoil it for you.

I recently made this purchase to get away from the bundled service offered by my cable provider. So far, everything has been great. the setup was very easy and the calls are crystal clear. My wife has family across the states. She has called and has had no problems. I'm in the process of porting my old number (which is free with the $9.99/mon upgraded service).
