I purchased this twice. HDMI ports, lightweight, decent speak that you can add surround sound as well.

Dark movies don't show well but that is a flaw of most projectors.

The quality of this projector is no doubt aligned with its price. However, the audio is a disappointment. It's rather noisy than useless. So consider buying it if you've got a stereo already. Otherwise, go EPSON

Easy to set up and has a good picture, but after a few uses the fan makes a "clicking noise" for a few minutes until it warms up.

For 549$ you can't beat value for money. I was sceptical. I got it and thought: man this is light I should of known that for that price it's going to be junk. Well no. This thing is awesome. What a picture. And all that talk about dlp brightness? I have 4 Philips hue on all the way at bright white and the light on the screen still hurts my eyes. 3 works great. The only thing to keep in mind is that it's not for side projecting. It has to be centered to the screen. No lens shift. Great projector.

PERFECT FOR OUR ROOM

We recently purchased a home and knew that we wanted to put a theatre room in. We immediately started having professionals come out and look at our space and quote us for everything that we needed. Many of them wanted us to purchase a projector that was $2,000+. However, we went with this model instead and couldn't be happier. We use a grey material screen with it, and it's great. Colors show nice in a dark or lighted room, and it was very easy to set up. We purchased the Optoma projector mount to go with it -- ended up take out the height adjustor screws and using those instead of the actual screw holes for the projector mount. It allowed for a much more stable and center of gravity space. We haven't hooked up our speakers yet, but find that the speaker built into the projector isn't that bad for the interim. Overall, would completely recommend this projector!!

I am totally in love with this projector already. Its my first projector and I have been blown away with the quality of the image. So far I have streamed, played blurays and watched couple of 3D blurays as well. It does get hot but it is very quiet. The performance is flawless. Enough ports for the average user. There are multiple viewing modes available. However, you can tweak the settings as you wish. If you are an average user, looking to setup your first 3D home theater then this is the perfect projector for you.

NIce for the price. Warranty is a headache.

From day one the projector didn't seem right. It takes time adjusting from one scene to another in color and contrast. The unit had loud fan noise. Eventually it stopped working when I heard gears grinding inside. It died inside the one year warranty so I paid $40 to ship it out to Optoma. I ended up having to call them when I didn't hear back from them after 2 weeks. (only one employee who performs this task) They then looked at it and got back to me. They said they had order a part and we waited about 10 days. Then they contacted me and said they replaced the part and it needed a new bulb for around $250. Being a year old and not having noticed bulb issues I declined the bulb replacement. I soon got the projector back and the bulb has been fine over the last few months. Overall I think the projector performs like a $500 projector and even looks really good. However as I look for a 4K projector now I am hesitant to consider Optoma again due to their service and warranty. Epson seems to have the best warranty in the business.

Perfect Projector for Price Point

At under $600, this projector is a steal. My setup has the projector hooked up to he ceiling about 14 ft away from a 120". The color quality and picture brightness is crisp and clear, even during daylight, thanks to the projector's 3000 lumens. All the bells and whistles, (3D, Smartphone Sync, etc.) also work just as a promoted.
