I just received my Orby receiver and installation kit and got everything installed and I am very happy with it. Not only am I paying half what I was with the other provider I am now getting channels that were only offered on the more expensive packages. Plus the over the air channels are a bonus. I am getting 30 of those. I couldn't be happier with Orby! I just got a raise!

Moved to rural area, no internet or cable. Hate directv and dish. Had Orby installed and love it. Getting locals with no problem. Nice having both on one reciever and remote. I elected for $50 package with Epix. Way cheaper than we were paying Xfinity before the move. Signal quality is excellent and picture is great on our 65" uhd LG. Will recommend this to anyone who could care less about sports and other 'trash' channels. Extremely happy with pay-as-you-go. Any extras are easily controlled to fit budget changes. I still use my BUD for extra channels, but Orby is my daily go to.

Well at first I was skeptical. But yes this is satellite and its a steal compared to direct tv. up to 4 receivers for 40/50 dollars a month. my Direct tv bills for 4 boxes and channels i dont want or need for 200 dollars a month and locked into a contract for 2 years. Plus direct tv keeps secretly adding channels then billing you when you don't ask for them. This is 40/50 dollars no joke. This is really a great deal wish you could get more options like fox/ espn etc . if you need satellite this is a good deal. other services are too pricey and they lock you into a contract plus jack you bills up every other month.

Orby TV Digital Video Recording Complaints

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I’ve had Orby TV now for about 1 year. Totally unhappy with the quality of the DVR and primarily its programming. I am now on my 3rd replacement from Orby, all of them, including the first tow had the same problems. It is obvious to me that instead of addressing the required correction in programming that Orby attempts to satisfy its customer by replacing the DVR, only to find that the problems are not corrected. Lastly, most of the time they will ask you to conduct a hard rest in order to download the latest firmware. This to has never corrected any of the following issues: 1. Cannot record more than 2 programs simultaneously. 2. Programs designated as a 60-minute program will record for 63 minutes or 57 minutes. There are random recording times. 3. TV channels, whether satellite or off-air antenna are not identified on the menu. First the station name will appear, then they disappear. Some channels titles don’t show up (populate the menu) until you pick that specific channel. 4. Scheduled programs suddenly stop recording and are removed from the schedule. 5. Audio stops working. Must unplug power in order to have audio return. 6. Screen goes black and no response whether from the remote or from the hard buttons on the DVR. Must unplug power in order to turn back on. 7. When fast forwarding while recording another program, video jumps from frame to frame then locks up. 8. On occasion when using the remote and stop, play, fast forward, rewind there is at least a 1- 4-minute delay in responding to the commands. Once this is done, you have lost the programming and where you were originally. Imagine 4 minutes of rewind or fast forward with no control. 9. When recording shows back-to-back on the same channel, the first will be cut short while the second show is recorded too long. 10. There is no search available on the menu to search for a specific program. 11. Custom recording time: The selection table is not useable. You can select to start 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 minutes early, but for stop recording the selections are 10, 30, 60 and 90 minutes. Would prefer to see 1, 3, 5 minutes to start and 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes to stop. • All items listed are during weather between 40-80 degrees F and clear weather, 5-15 MPH wind.

I purchased the Orby DVR from Best Buy and scheduled the installation by calling Orby TV. They made an appoint for a 4 hour window in the morning a week later. When the big day arrived, no one showed up during the time window scheduled. I called the install company and was told it would be later in the day, but the installer would show up. He arrived about four hours later. The install went okay, but the reception was not great. I mentioned it to the installer, which is when I found out that most of the channels are not in HD. I have a 65 inch 4K TV, so that news did not thrill me. The installer left and we were watching TV, and suddenly lost the signal. needless to say I was upset, but decided to wait to see if the signal would return. It did come back about three hours later. The next afternoon the same thing happened, so I called the installer and they scheduled an appointment for a week later. During the week wait we lost the signal every day at about the same time for about 3-4 hours. The installer visit day arrived and again the installer was late arriving. When he did he re-pointed the dish and everything appeared fine. The next morning I turned on the TV and had no signal. The outage lasted about 3 hours, then returned. Over the next couple of days we lost the signal every day for 3-4 hours, just as before, but at a different time of day. I called Orby again and they scheduled another appointment for a week later. Appointment day came and no one showed up. I called Orby and was informed that the appointment had been cancelled by the installer company stating that the problem was being caused by the spring satellite blackout, and the problem would go away in a couple of weeks. I have had satellite TV since 1998, and never heard of spring blackout. I called Orby TV again, and exercised my advertised 30 day return option. They advised me to return the DVR, and all accessories, to any UPS store. I repackaged everything in the original carton, which was still in like new condition and took it to UPS. They accepted the package and gave me a tracking number. It tool ten days for the package to arrive at the California destination, but it did get there. Orby never did return my payment as was stated in the 30 day money back guarantee.

This is a good satellite service the reception is good. I got the $50 package with epix and its nice I left my cable company its just to expensive and the picture is always breaking up. Orby hasn't done that im happy with it. The only thing I would say is they tell you that they need to run cable wire to each room where you want a box set up and this is true but if your house is pre-wired all you have to do is run the satellite wire to where your house junction box is (All cable wires run into your house) there use a splitter (up to 4 wire splitter if 4 rooms 4 boxes or 2 wire splitter for 2 rooms 2 boxes) and one by one connect each wire until you see picture on your TV saves you money. I did this myself and I'm good. Easy install I would definitely recommend this satellite service.

if you don't have high-speed internet, this is an especially great way to get cable tv for a low cost. It's only $40 a month. Also, it's the only device I know that integrates the over the air antenna along with cable into one slick on screen guide. It's innovative and great! The feed looks great, and I've had no issue with weather or anything like that.

You need only buy receiver or receivers and hire an installer. around 150-200 tops. Then 40 bucks a month for a great basic package or pay more for premium. no contracts, no fees, no surprises. went from 145 a month with Spectrum, to 40 a month for same exact Package on orby. You do hire and pay install and you have to buy each receiver. 40 a month is up to 4 rooms, but need a receiver for each room. Still pays for itself in 3 months time. 5 stars

    Useless without Paid "Pro" installer

Read the fine print. REQUIRED $150 + Taxes fees Installation & Activation by Orby Installer. Has to be done by them. You can not use this product if you wish to install the dish yourself, which is dumb easy to do. "Most people do not have the tools" their FAQ says....lol...basic tools a power drill/screwdriver is all you need. I have installed several dishes and very rarely need any thing more. You do not even get the dish and antenna, that only comes with the installer. Also, if you rent, beware that your landlord will charge you a Damage deposit of anywhere from $200 to $1,000 and require proof of Renters insurance. In the end, after all the costs and fees, it is not worth it.

Great picture, base package channel line up quite good. One problem, the sound keeps going off and to get it back on need to shut off the TV, wait anywhere from 1 1/2 min. to 3 min, then the TV will turn back on and the sound comes back on. This happens any where from one time an evening to as many as 8 or 10 times an evening. The customer service, service tech have not figured out the problem. I have told them I feel it is a bad receiver box but they dont seem to think so. Getting a bit fed up with it.

Orby TV has been awesome! With the on-screen guide and simple layout of everything I could not be more satisfied. The receiver delivers a crystal clear picture, remote works perfectly, and after purchasing the receiver it only cost me $25 for the install...and that included the dish! Most of all, the service works great and I have had no issues!

I personally love Orby TV. I didn't want to pay for sports and ESPN which I never watched, but caused my cable bill to sky rocket. I get the channels I want and I couldn't be happier. On occasion my picture will not be as clear as I desire, but 95% of the time it's crystal clear.
