First of all this is an absolutely beautiful guitar! I mean it is stunning. However as my 8 year old daughter said to me today -"What's most important is how it sounds". Well this guitar sounds as good as it looks. I was not expecting it to be this good given the price-point this guitar sells at. I figured the pickups would probably be adequate, but no better. Boy was I ever wrong - the pickups on this Oscar Schmidt OE20 are outstanding! The tones at each of the 3 positions of the selector are fantastic, the volume & tone knobs operate smoothly and just as they should. I'm amazed that you can buy a mahogany bodied, maple necked (rosewood fretboard) guitar with body & neck binding, mother or pearl look fret-marker inlays, with a set neck, proper tuners, chrome or chrome-like covers over the dual humbuckers, and a gorgeous transparent purple finish at this price. Mine came perfectly set-up. All I had to do is tune it. The neck is well done, the fret ends are smooth, there are no dead frets and no fret buzz.IMO this guitar could easily sell for 2 or 3 times the price and still be considered a good value. If you are considering an OE20, my advice would be - go for it. This is a guitar that begs to be played. It's enjoyable to play for hours at a time. In fact you probably won't want to put it down. I know I don't.
