Mixer is good for its price but steel mixing stick is not properly alligned which cause vibration in hand, Other than that product is good!!

The Oster hand mixer with HeatSoft technology fills a gap that we’ve all faced at one time or another: the need to soften or melt butter for a recipe, but not remembering that fact until the butter is in the middle of the baking mix. The Oster hand mixer addresses that by including the ability to blow heated air into the mixing bowl, softening things like butter without the mess that sometimes happens when using a microwave for that purpose. This is actually a pretty ingenious idea--if you’re having trouble thinking of how it works, think of a hair dryer that can also whip up mashed potatoes. Perhaps my favorite part of this mixer is the magnetically attached splatter shield, or nozzle as Oster calls it. This is the plastic piece on the front of the mixer that also includes the holes where the beaters are inserted. It’s common for this area to get splattered, and it can be a pain to clean up. Not with this mixer! The nozzle pops right off for easy cleanup and access to the plastic casing behind it. This is another example of smart thinking that improves the tool in a way that you probably wouldn’t think of. As for the mixing functions, this mixer performs as you would expect. A nice touch is the turbo button, which allows for a quick burst of speed without having to change the overall speed setting. This is good for those times when you just need to break up a large lump, but don’t want to mix everything faster for very long. This is a great mixer at a good price point. My only gripe is that it doesn’t include dough hooks for this price. Oster does offer a higher level package which includes a storage container, dough hooks and a whisk for double the price at $100, but that seems excessive for what you get. Compared to other mixers in this same price range, I think the Oster is a better value, offering thoughtful features not found elsewhere, with a sturdy build that I hope will last for many years to come.

The Oster - 2084158 HeatSoft 5-Speed Hand Mixer is, at it's core, a solid and reliable hand mixer for regular use - well-built with ample power. But it's also more than that. 2 key added features are ... - A Turbo-boost button that gives a surge of added speed and power when pressed. Very useful. - An innovative HeatSoft feature sends hot air down into whatever you're mixing. My wife loved how much easier it was for her to take a cube of butter right out of the fridge and immediately begin blending it. Now she's looking forward to using it for Thanksgiving mashed potatoes - to keep them warm while she mixes them. I was a little unsure of the HeatSoft feature when we first got the mixer. Now, however, we're both sold on it. Good Buy!

This must have been an interesting protopype - A hand mixer with a hair dryer attached. The Oster HeatSoft is just that - A relatively standard hand mixer with a blower for hot air where the mixer arms connect that can warm hard butter or soften cream cheese used in some recipies. In practice, the mixer itself is a bit louder than competitors, but works well and has good variable controls that seem well constructed, save for a few other quibbles of its design - - The beaters/mixing wands themselves are longer than most (since they have to connect through the air mover) and they are more difficult to insert properly. - The heater is basically a hair dryer that blows warm/hot air at the mixing area - Strangely it only seems to blow air from the back side of the vented area - It seems like this would limit its ability to warm things in a mixing bowl. Turning on the warmer adds a hairdryer-like sound/noise to an already noisy operation. Overall an OK mixer for the money, but the heating feature adds noise and build complexity with mixed results.

Didn’t use at all. Way to heavy. Low speed was very fast. Returned without using. Very disappointed in this well known brand.

You'll never again have the excuse that there isn't time to let the butter get to room temperature before you can make cookies. Thanks to the HeatSoft option, you can start slowly by mixing the sugar and butter with cold butter that will slowly heat up as you're mixing the initial ingredients. You can't just throw in the whole stick of butter though. You do have to cut it up to inch-size cubes. But once cubed, you're off an running and can have the cookie dough done relatively quickly after being asked by the kid for cookies. Sure, you can certainly microwave the butter to soften but that isn't the best option as it does affect the cookie texture. With HeatSoft, there are some things to be aware of. First, the hand mixer is heavier. If you're used to a light mixer, just be aware of the different. Also, with HeatSoft, you have to make sure the blades cool down before taking them off. That's important to know if you have a kid who likes to lick the blades when you're done. They should have cooled down by then since the butter heating part is just done at the beginning of the process, not the whole mixing. Lastly, you have to be conscious of NOT placing the mixer down blocking the vent in the back while the HeatSoft is on. I'm not actually sure what would happen if you did that, but I suspect bad things will happen if you do... probably could lead to a fire if I had to guess if you left the mixer there long enough. Overall, the Oster mixer works great as a mixer. The machine can handle some of the heavier loads, but the beauty of the machine is in adding the HeatSoft feature so you can get started baking more quickly while the kid is demanding cookies now...

With kids who like to bake thinking ahead is not there strong suit, they want to make cookies, but don't think to get the butter out and soften it to make cookies/cupcakes etc. I love the addition of the heater, it helps these last minute baking sessions. It is easy to use we just follow the directions and didn't have a problem getting the butter to the right softness. I was impressed with how easy it was to work with cold butter. Such a nice touch and helped keep the younger impatient kids wanting to have fun to have. That addition is a nice touch to a hand mixer and actually brings some value to otherwise a hand mixer. It works and we could make cookies. Kids all say they are yummy cookies and for me that is what I want. I am very pleased with this hand mixer helping keep the kids occupied on rainy/cold days and offering something new.

Testing this unit out was a pleasure for my taste buds (maybe not my waistline). We had an older mixer that we probably inherited from a parent or grandparent. Adding this to our ensemble is a nice touch of luxury and styling. The mixer is strong and will handle anything you put it up against. The addition of the heat made me think "Why has this never been done before?". The unit is actually rather large (about the size of large hair dryer) and built like a tank. The controls are very simple to use, and the design allows for easy cleaning. The heat is mild (not as hot as a hair dryer) and I found it to really help mix colder items. In closing it is simplest to say that we will be getting these as gifts for family and friends.

So yes, this hand mixer delivers a lot of power, and it has something that differentiates it from the other hand mixers out there - the "HeatSoft" technology. But overall it just does not impress. Diving straight into the things I don't like it - 1. Its heavy, I guess most of the weight comes from this new tech to produce the heat, but hey the weight's always there whether you have HeatSoft on or not. 2. It does not come with any accessories, just one type of hooks, when almost everything else in the market comes with 2-3 types. 3. The HeatSoft tech from a UX perspective just adds more steps for the user, you need to cut up the butter first, mix it with sugar first. You need to make sure the cutup sizes are not too small, that the whiskey just makes them fly around in the bowl, and not too big, that the heat just takes longer to take effect. 4. This thing is loudish, but its the last point on here, because it is really powerful too, you just feel it when compared to other mixers you might have used. Overall, there is nothing that breaks this thing for me, its just that it is just too much effort to use this over some of the other hand mixers out there.

Beaters were rusted. Other than that the mixer works amazing, but disappointed when your mom opens her gift and it’s rusted

OK, this has happened before. My wife and I are ready to prepare the frosting for her cake and she suddenly realizes, “Uh Oh, I forgot to take the butter out of the refrigerator.” Now we have to wait for more than half an hour for the butter to soften. I should say we HAD to wait, because that was in the past. This Oster Heatsoft hand mixer takes care of that problem. Pushing a button sends hot air down through the beaters and blended the unsoftened butter and sugar mixture easily and quickly. If she needed just a little more power, a quick press of the “Turbo” button powered the beaters through easily. We found that the mixer was not heavy for the power it generated. We’ve had other less powerful mixers which weighed more. Cleaning was easy. A push of a button dropped the beaters into the sink. We liked the magnetic nozzle. It pulled right off, could be washed in the dishwasher and then when you go to put it back on the mixer, the magnets ‘grab’ it and it pops right back into place. The only negative we could find was the instruction pamphlet mentions a convenient storage case which would be great to keep all the parts together. We could not find it for this model looking at the Oster website. Having the case included with the mixer would have been great. Otherwise we were very happy with this mixer. It’s light and powerful and that heating feature was really a nice touch.

I've had the same cheap mixer for about 15 years. I don't cook enough to get a fancy $150-200 fancy mixer with a mixing bowl, nor do I have the counter space. This Oster hand held mixer is perfect match for me! Mixes well and the fact that it will melt butter is a game changer! Whoever thought of putting a heating element on a mixer is a genius! Highly recommend!

The Oster Heatsoft hand mixer is an average hand mixer at best. While the idea of the Heatsoft technology is nice, it doesn't really make that much of an impact. The design of the hand mixer is very basic. It's mostly made up of a matte plastic, there is also a detachable plastic plate that attaches with a magnet (this is what's used for the heat soft function). The unit is rather bulky and heavy, which for long uses can be bothersome to your wrist. There are 5 speeds as well as a turbo boost button, although when I was using the max speed the turbo boost didn't do anything. The biggest feature of this unit is the Heatsoft, which is ideal for mixing together cold stuff like butter and it acts as a heat source to softening it up faster. I decided to take the mixer for a test, so I tried making an apple spice cake. The first thing I wanted to test was the Heatsoft technology, so I needed to mix together butter and cream cheese. As I was mixing the 2 together I noticed the heatsoft wasn't doing me any favors as the ingredients where wrapping around the beaters and climbing there way up to the main unit of the mixer. Needless to say, it did not do a very good job mixing that up. Although, the mixer was able to mix the rest of the ingredients together just fine. I did have to take a few breaks in between to give my wrist a rest, as the mixer is a little bit heavy and unbalanced. I did find that the turbo boost is a nice feature when you need a short boost of max speed on the fly. The cleaning process is fairly simple, the beaters eject with the push of a button, and the magnetic plate on front comes off very easily for cleaning. Overall, the mixer did the job as intended with a few drawbacks. I didn't really notice the Heatsoft to be that helpful, and the bulkiness and weight of the mixer made it uncomfortable to use for long periods of time. So, because of the unit's bulkiness I wouldn't necessarily use it as my go to hand mixer, therefor I would be reluctant to recommend this to anyone.

overall love this hand mixer. just wished it had a case to store it. whats great is that you can pull butter out of fridge, cut into small pieces, and start mixing. great if you forgot to pull butter out prior, or if you left butter out way to long. we also found it useful with blending cream cheese. and overall nice to have a hand blender, and why not have heat with it. if you like making eggs, and do a lot, its nice to have. easy to use, easy to clean.

Good mixer with heat feature. Upon using this a a regular mixer it worked well. When whipping butter it did a good job at melting the butter and whipping it. The only issue was with full sticks of butter it felt like it took longer to melt than just using the microwave.

This is a usual hand mixer that softens ingredients while in use. In theory it saves the time and aggravation of using the microwave to get butter pliable. No more melt outs! And it works—it is heavier than a regular hand mixer, and the method of softening is a heated blower that has a filter on it. Strangely enough the blower really does soften when activated. Directions say to cut the butter into one inch cubes. I did not. It still worked. It worked best actually with cream cheese for buffalo chicken dip. I do find it a little cumbersome and I don’t know if it is worth the weight and changing a blower filter to avoid a twenty second microwave session.

This Oster hand mixer is really an impressive bit of kitchen kit. This isn't the sort of hand mixer I remember from my moms kitchen growing up. The first thing I really noticed about it was just how much it doesn't weigh. That might not sound like that big of a deal but when you're doing a lot of mixing with a hand mixer that makes life a lot easier. Setup is pretty straight forward. Connect the two mixers, plug in, and get to it. The five speeds plus "turbo" button provide plenty of options. So far I've only used it to whip potatoes but it does a most excellent job in getting perfectly whipped potatoes. I've not really used the heating function yet but I'm sure it will work perfectly. This is an Oster after all and they are known for making excellent kitchen appliances and this mixer certainly falls into the excellent category.

Overall, as hand mixers go, the Oster is well-built and powerful. We made some cookies as soon as we got ours. While not as powerful or convenient as our stand mixer, it was much easier to pull out and use in a hurry without the work needed to set up a stand mixer. Disappointing, however, is the "HeatSoft" feature for softening items like butter. I was hoping it would soften the butter while mixing it. Instead you're instructed to cut it into 1-inch sections then mix it with some sugar until it softens. Even then it was flinging bits of butter around the bowl rather than mixing it together. Honestly, it's much easier to stick the butter in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it, then throw it in an mix it normally. It'll still be great for quick mixing jobs, but I wouldn't use this over a stand mixer when you need to soften ingredients.
