This is a modestly high-powered hand mixer from Oster, a company that has been around long enough to develop a better product than this one. Hand mixers have been around about as long as electricity so Oster isn't presenting something new. Their big selling point here is (the term they went to press with:) HeatSoft technology. The only thing that, typically, needs to be warmed out of the refrigerator before mixing is butter. Oster has chosen to team this below-average mixer with a heating feature - it's a hand mixer and blow dryer in one - they decided that the best way to soften butter out of the refrigerator is to blast it with some hot air. OK: (1) Softening butter is easier and faster using a low-power setting in a microwave oven, & (2) blasting cold butter with hot air heats unevenly and you can't start mixing until after you have heated the butter which yields parts that are still stiff and cold mixing with melted parts (a disaster). And I'm not sure how many people need to beat butter out of the refrigerator unexpectedly (how many people have butter-beating emergencies where they can't just take those sticks out of the refrigerator an hour in advance?). So I think their primary sales pitch on this one is strange and terribly implemented. But the mixer itself is not a good mixer. It is very heavy and doesn't feel balanced in my hand so it is uncomfortable to use. And, at least with mine, either the stems of the mixer blades are not quite straight or the rotating receptacles are not properly aligned which induces some shaking in the mixer that is annoying to have to keep under control. This is an absolute disaster of a hand mixer.

This is an amazing mixer. Works great and melts stick butter in seconds. Cakes, mashed potatoes, or cookies. Very easy to use and consistent
