It just blurs it out but you can still get a general sense of what someone is doing on their phone. It gives the screen a matted appearance which is great, but it gets marks on it easily. It does dim the screen when viewed from all 4 main angles, but then it presents a problem for you if you wanted to happen to be an arm's length away trying to look at your screen to see a notification real quick. I've been spoiled b/c I had a great screen protector before and this just doesn't compare.
