Decent case but weakness in materials and design

Decently built case however the design has a somewhat poor fit along the curved top edge that causes dust to accumulate and get inside. In addition, the dust cover plug crumbled off after almost 2 years of daily use that seems to fall short of their marketing claims. Luckily, Otterbox provides a great warranty.

It is misleading from the pictures however there is not a screen protector with this case I have been using Otterbox products for years and there was always a screen protector on the outer bezel. This time it is just a bezel, I took a photo for reference.

      Hi there!

We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with your Defender Series Pro! After extensive design testing, our engineers learned that the best way to ensure flawless interaction with the advanced display of your device was without the addition of a built-in screen protector. That being said, that case is totally compatible with Amplify and Alpha Glass. If you run into any other issues with your OtterBox, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Service Team here: https://www.otterbox.com/en-us/contact-us

Would give this zero stars if I could. Don't ever use an otterbox with an older phone. I put this on my 2 year old Pixel phone after my other case died. By the time I realized it was destroying my phone it was too late. Otterbox warranty is only for the box itself no the phone. Now I am forced to purchase a new phone.

However, the OtterBox case won't cause any direct damage to your device. Pixel 5 OtterBox Defender Pro Case

The only reason I'm giving this case 4 stars is because it is very expensive and in my humble opinion, overpriced. But it is much cheaper than having to get my Pixel 5 repaired / replaced. With that being said, here's my review. The Otterbox Defender Pro will protect your Google Pixel 5 phone better than any other case on the market. Period. I was leaning toward purchasing the Google brand Pixel 5 case but after putting my phone into it, I felt the Google case would not adequately protect the phone. It felt cheap, was ugly, covered the entire back of my "Sorta Sage" phone, and was also way overpriced for the protection (or lack of it) it provided. Enter the OtterBox case. It isn't sleek or flashy and covers most of the back of my "Sorta Sage" Pixel 5. But, the protection this case provides is darn near bulletproof. You won't need a glass protector over your camera lens since the case is designed to provide a more than adequate depth between the case and lens. The case is grippy so your phone won't be slipping out of your hand, even if you are wet or sweaty. The belt (or purse) clip is solid and will provide you a stand for your phone if you need one. The Google brand case doesn't give you that option. I was concerned the thickness of the OtterBox case would interfere with the wireless charging option of the Pixel 5. I can happily report it doesn't. Wireless charging is flawless. The power and volume buttons are easier to use in the case than they are without the case. Overall, if it weren't for the price, I would have given the OtterBox - Defender Pro case 5+ stars. The price, by itself, reduced the overall value by one star but, if you can afford it, and you want the best protection for your Pixel 5, this is the case you want to buy.

Good amount of protection. It's a little pricey though. It does work with a screen protector though and honestly that is what you want. Those old plastic screen protectors were not great. Get yourself some tempered glass. With that said, the price could be dropped by about $20-$30 since you need another product to protect the screen.

It's an OtterBox defender - not much needs to be said! If you are familiar with this series of cases on recent devices, a big difference from years ago is that their is no screen protector built into this case. I personally love that seeing as I am the kind to skip screen protectors altogether because I don't like how they feel to the touch. It's hard to tell from the product images, but this model has raised short sides compared to the longer sides around the screen. I appreciate this as the default "go back" function in Android 11 is a swipe from the side and this helps with that while still not letting the screen lay unprotected if you turn the case upside down. You may notice that the back looks super funky due to the cutout being one monstrous looking hole. I was confused about this at first, but they could not get the case any closer to that ultra-wide camera lens without blocking your shots - so it's cool! I would recommend this case for someone who wants to protect their phone from scratches, gunk, and decent drops.

I have an Otterbox Defender for my Iphone 12 pro, 8 plus and now my Pixel 5. The reason why I bought the Otterbox Defender was because my Pixel 3 fell off my lap and sadly enough that 3-4 ft drop damaged two corners and a 1/3 of the screen was gone. Enough said, I don't have money laying around to easily buy a new one. With that said, I'm very glad that I did infact purchased it the same day I got my Pixel 5. 5 days laters, I'm at Joshua Tree National Park taking pictures on top of a rock and off the phone goes as it jumped out of my tripod. Probably a good 5-6 ft drop and remarkably...no damage or blemish on the case or phone. I do appreciate that the phone case has come down in size but it would be appreciated if they came down in size a bit more especially the back side since everyone is going wireless and wireless charger are the thing now. In order for the wireless charger to be effective, there has to be as little space between the phone and the charger pad. Other than that...the Otterbox is still my go to case. The case is unbearable but the newer one is a bit easier to dealt with than the really bulky one from the past.

Does exactly what I wanted - protects the phone. My phone has a loose screen from a previous drop, and the multi-piece design of this case held the screen to the phone well. 4/5 stars instead of 5, as it is exactly as bulky and non-sleek as it looks. Price to pay for protection.

Tried this thinking it was going to be temporary, but I accidentally dropped my new phone on the ground with this case after getting out of my car, with no scratches, and dents. Read the Otterbox is taking out the screen protector is used to have because it would intrude with the touch screen. I bought a separate screen protector and they both been working out great. Will keep this for sure.

Very protective but the back is overly thick and prevents wireless charging. There is no material between the fingerprint reader and the camera bump on the back which makes locating the fingerprint reader a bit trickier than with the other case I use. It's a good case overall but a bit pricey.

      Hi there!

We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with your Defender Series Pro! While that case is compatible with Qi charging, some chargers will perform better than others, so a different charging base may work better for you. Additionally, we recommend OtterBox Power accessories for best wireless charging experience. Very nice case. Much better fitting then my Pixel 2 Defender Case and that was a 5 star case too. Dropped my old phone loads of times over the three years I had it and no damage at all. This one seems just as well protected and a really nice fit. I always use the Otterbox Defender cases and have never had a broken screen minus one time I was working and leaned onto the screen in my pocket that was facing outward. Always put my screen facing my leg after that expensive lesson. I never really use the belt clip par of the case but it is very well built too.
