Does it protect? Yes. But for a little more money, the LifeProof has an actual warranty. Otter boxes are bulky and not water or dust proof. I've owned two because it takes Lifeproof a few more months to get a better (tho overpriced) product out

I purchased the Otter box Defender when I purchased my new IPhone 5. It seemed basic, but effective in what it is suppose to do. Since, my pulse rate doesn't soar to 160 each time I accidentally drop my phone. I get many comments on it, being told it is the best case made. I actually was questioned, (by more than one), why I purchased the extended warranty for the phone, being told nothing will ever happen with this case surrounding it. I just shake my head, and confess to being...just a stupid man.

Its the best case out there, its has layers of protection and doesn't slide out of your hand that easily.

Perfect fit and doesn't interfere with functions. Even with a young toddler often playing with my phone, keeps my phone safe.

I saw a case that I thought, "Wow, this case would be great for my phone!" I turned the case over to see it was made by Otterbox, and decided that this would be my case of choice for my next phone. I decided to go with the maximum protection option from Otterbox, and the only reason why I haven't given this product 5/5 stars, but only 4/5 stars, is that the bottom of the case leaves the speakers open to the air (and sweat!). Drop resistant protection? YES! For sure sweat-proof protection? Well, if you have to wonder if the opening on the bottom is open enough to allow sweat to make it through... well, unfortunately, NO. BUT, OVERALL? Great purchase!

Got this case to protect my wife's IPhone. So far it has worked very well. Is is durable and it does not limit the performance of the phone. I have not tested the durability of the case, but it seems that is appropriately protects the phone. It is not very stylish, but that is not what we purchased it for. So far, I am very happy with this case. Fortunately we have not yet had any incidents which would allow be to better comment on the durability of the case. I would purchase one of these again.

This is our fourth Otterbox for different iPhones and it's without a doubt the best one yet. I purchased this Otterbox to protect my new iPhone 5s. The case is just the right size and because of the material is won't easily slip out of your hand. It has been tested for drops, not just little bumps. It doesn't protect against water. Personally I am not that worried about dropping the phone in water. I have already dropped it off my lap when getting out of a car and it didn't faze it at all.

I purchased this case for my father’s phone, and it has held up to many drops! Great buy!

I've had this for about a month. It was very easy to install my IPHONE and seems to provide great protection.

Although it provides great protection for the phone, I found it too bulky and heavy which made basic functions a little more difficult than needed. I prefer a more slim lined case for protection.

I bought this case for my wife. She loves the color and likes how snug the case fits. It's a great case for the money.

Otterbox makes the most secure case on the market. It is light and easy to maintain. Available in many colors. You won't go wrong with this purchase.

Only thing I would add is water resistance. Otherwise a very nice protective case for my iPhone SE
