I thought the lack of the screen protector would be a bigger issue but it has not been because of the belt clip I think. I do not think the latch that holds the phone on the clip is as aggressive as in the past. The belt clip or "holster" has dropped the phone with less accidental force. Still probably the best you are going to find for that S8 phone.
