I have been using the Oura Ring 4 for a week now, and it has quickly become the wearable I enjoy wearing every day. Setup is easy by downloading the Oura app from the app store and providing the necessary information. The ring offers many metrics for clear sleep, readiness, and activity summaries. It is lightweight, sleek, and comfortable to wear throughout the day.  Sleep tracking is the standout feature, consistently highlighting fragmented sleep or late-night disturbances and providing actionable suggestions like sleep window adjustments and winding-down reminders. The readiness score is also helpful, offering guidance on whether a workout is needed or if it's time to take a break. The heart rate and stress tracking features are great, and the temperature sensing has been useful as well. Battery life is solid, and I only need to charge it a couple of times a week, with quick charging. It has a sleek and discreet design, and the build quality feels premium. Oura sizing kit can be purchased first to measure the ring size before ordering the actual ring.   The insights are very useful for day-to-day awareness, although some of the best app features require a subscription. Overall, it is one of the most comfortable and thoughtful wearables I have ever owned.

Oura Ring 4: Precious Data, Zero Invisibility

The Oura Ring 4 is my first experience with a “smart ring.” While it hasn’t granted me any superpowers, such as invisibility, it has certainly captured my toddler’s imagination—he refers to it as his “precious.” Adjusting to wearing the Oura Ring 4 took a bit of time, but its battery life and ability to relay a wealth of health information directly to my phone is impressive. The Oura application stands out as the best health and fitness app I have used. There is a wealth of health and fitness data which the ai features of the application use for coaching and advice. It presents data points clearly and reports information with impressive accuracy. For instance, during a particularly stressful day, the app effectively captured my stress level through its data tracking. If you are searching for an advanced fitness tracker that you can wear on your finger, the Oura Ring 4 is both stylish and highly functional. Experience: The Oura Ring 4 is not just a piece of tech; it is also a fashion accessory. It looks good if a bit bigger and bulkier than I expected. I spent some time with the Oura sizing kit and decided on the size 11 ring for my right hand’s ring finger. However, I have noticed that at times my hands swell or shrink and in the evenings the ring fits better on my left index finger. Because of its size, I find myself catching the Oura on items like car door handles and pockets more than I expected I would. The thickness of the ring can also interfere with my grip from time to time. If you are on the fence about whether you could get used to having an Oura Ring 4 based on the size of the ring, make sure to spend sufficient time with the Oura sizing kit. Battery life has been great. I know that Oura advertises a seven-day battery life, and that estimate holds up in my experience. Charging the ring is easy enough with the included USB-C charging stand. In my experience, the ring would go from a forty percent charge to a full charge in about an hour on the charging stand. Third party integration has worked better than any other fitness tracker I have owned. My wife and I use Personify Health through her employer. Personify Health, formerly “Virgin Pulse,” tracks our sleep and exercise details and my wife then receives gift cards through work based on our activity progress. Oura has been the simplest device we own to sync with Personify Health. The Oura application also synced easily with Google Fit. I should note that it takes some time for the app to properly calibrate its readings and recommendations. Some details are available immediately, but some items can take a week or longer to appear in the app. Conclusion: I think this is a great health / wellbeing accessory. It is a bit more convenient than my smart watch to slide on before activity and the information reported in the application is quite detailed and impressive. My biggest ongoing concern is durability and whether or not I will ever personally get used to the thickness of the ring itself. But after a week of use, I do like it. It all works very well and if the idea of a smart ring appeals to you, the Oura Ring 4 is a great option. 4.5/5 Recommended

    Nicely detailed health information

I’ll start by saying that this is my very first health tracking ring. Years ago if you would have told me that we would have the option of having “smart” wearables that would give us accurate health statistics, I would have said, why would I need that? Fast forward to the future, now that I am a little older and have been taking health more seriously, I completely understand the benefits of these concepts, and have finally embraced the idea of not only wearing a smart watch every day, but also tracking my health with a smart ring. While a watch does a lot of similar things, the ring makes all of those things much easier. For starters, I truly appreciate the fact that you can comfortably wear the ring to bed each night. With a watch, it always felt too big and cumbersome while sleeping. Not to mention the battery life doesn’t really support wearing a watch 24-7, so on the charger it goes each night. With the Oura Ring 4, I can wear it for several days without charging. It’s really quite remarkable how little the device is and how long the battery lasts. I usually only charge it when I take a shower, but only if it is needed. In all actuality, the star of the show with this ring is the excellent app and tracking information. The app is designed for ease of use, and looks really nice (see my screenshots). All of the most important information is immediately available on the home screen and with a few taps, or light scrolling, you can see the stats that matter most. Tapping on one of the circle icons at the top of the home page, opens up an additional screen for that icon, giving you super detailed graphs and charts showcasing your statistics. For instance, tapping the sleep icon opens up detailed information tracking REM’s, if you awoke during the night, and how light, or deep your sleep was. It even scores you each morning, letting you know if you should consider making any changes to boost your score, and overall health. You can also customize what order the circle icons appear at the top of the app so you can have your favorites first. In addition to tracking sleep scores, the app will also track your physical activity, heart rate, readiness, and even stress levels. Every one of these statistics are covered in extreme detail in the app, making wearing a health ring something I never knew I truly needed. For example, I was just outside trimming trees and doing some fall yard work, and when I checked my app later, there was an info card added to my home screen asking if I did any yard work, and even displaying what time range it was done. When these info cards pop up, and after you have reviewed the information, you have the choice to either confirm or deny that you performed the activity and if confirmed, it automatically adds it to your history. Pretty cool and convenient. Honestly there is so much information included with the app, it’s almost overwhelming at first. A few of the standouts besides what I have already mentioned, would be the Spotlight screen, showing your goals, which you can adjust. The Timeline screen, showing your past activity details, and the (like it or not) AI Advisor. Think of the Advisor as your very own AI personal trainer. You can ask it questions and it will give you tips on how to succeed with those exercise goals. While you can easily do the same thing with other AI software, it’s nice that this feature is built right into the already excellent app. If you are health conscious, and are serious about monitoring your vitals and goals, a ring like this is an excellent device to consider. The only other thing I can talk about is the actual design, and build quality of the ring. My favorite thing about the design is that there is a little notch in the ring that you need to line up with the bottom palm side part of your finger. This ensures that the sensors are in their optimal spot on your finger for correct and accurate tracking. This notch is easy to feel once you get used to it, so you don’t need to look at the ring to rotate it into the optimal position. The ring is also very light, and as stated previously, and the battery life is excellent. With all of that said, I would have preferred a Tungsten Carbide exterior instead of Ceramic. While Ceramic is rated as a hard substance, and the colors are interesting, I have unfortunately already scratched mine (see photos). For a device that is on your finger, and ultimately your hands, which most likely gets a lot of use in a variety of ways each day, I feel like these rings are, like most technology, meant to be upgraded often. If you don’t mind keeping up with upgrading your tech and devices, such as this ring, every so often, I highly recommend the Oura Ring 4. Just be sure to use the sizing kit before you order!

Best for Health Insights than for Exercise Fitness

The ceramic coating on the Oura Ring makes it look and feel more like jewelry than an electronic monitoring device. I have worn my Oura Ring for about a week now and I have gotten mixed results with it especially when it comes to being able to interpret my exercise results in the mobile app. When monitoring daily activities like walking and doing simple task or sleeping it seems to be reasonably accurate but with cardio/aerobic workouts I find it less informative. I feel the ring is more of a data gathering device that over time provides insight into your overall health. It doesn’t provide real time data during an activity and I don’t feel that it provides enough post exercise information that can be used to improve fitness. The Oura app can be overwhelming and the yearly subscription cost may make it a big negative for some. Bottom line is I would recommend the Oura ring for someone who is more interested in their overall health status. I would not recommend it for someone who is mainly concerned about their exercise fitness. Sleeping: So far I think the ring has been fairly accurate when it comes to monitoring my sleep data. I had one night where the ring was nearly 2 hours late starting my sleep cycle and I assume that was because the ring rotated off center and thus didn’t record the information properly. Because of this I have become more vigilante on the ring’s alignment and this not necessarily a good thing. On the plus side it hasn’t confused my inactivity while reading at night as going to sleep and it has captured my afternoon naps accurately when I take one longer than 15 minutes. Exercise: I wear the ring everywhere I go including the gym and so far no scratches or mars to the finish. When I go to the gym I don’t take my phone with me, I rely on my iwatch and this can be an issue. If my activities are not recognized by the ring I have to add them manually in the app when I get home and doing this can definitely impact the accuracy of the workout data. The ring does not recognize my indoor bike training and while it does captures the heart rate data it seems to be lower/less responsive than the levels my other devices report. I have about a 50/50 chance of the ring recognizing the elliptical workouts but no luck at all having it recognize strength training workouts. What is funny is that it has recognized me doing “housework” and yardwork activities due to an elevated heart rate and motion. Fit and Feel: The ring is thick and has some weight to it. The recommendation is to wear it on one of your first three fingers but I found wearing it on my index finger like they show in the ads to be more problematic because I lead with my index finger area when reaching which means it hits more things. I highly recommend getting the ring sizing kit and wear the sizing ring for a couple of days to figure out which finger fits best and wont impede your hand motions. The ceramic coating feels very smooth and really shines but I do worry about dinging it on something. So far I have worn it to do housework, yard work, at the gym and on the bike all without any scratches. I’ve had it in soap and water as well as covered in hand sanitizer without any issues. There is a small notch/indent on the ring that should face your palm for proper alignment. In the dark this can be more difficult to verify especially if you are in bed. My ring fits reasonably tight but due to the smooth surface it does rotate so I find myself checking it often. Overall the fit and feel of this ring is good and not an issue. Oura App: The Oura app has four primary health categories: Readiness, Sleep, Activity and Heart Rate. It then uses the data from the ring to assign a number value and a little icon to indicate what it believes your health value for that category is. Oura explains what data contributes to the calculation without disclosing the algorithm. If you want to get more specific information on the category or its contributors you have to go into the subcategory pages. Bottom line is that this app has lots of graphs and subcategories that at times make it more difficult to get to the actual information that I as a user want to see. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t find the app very intuitive and it is inundate with so many subcategories that it becomes difficult to figure out where the really important information is located. Hopefully with time I will be able to figure out the app but so far it’s been a frustration.

Bought this ring for the usual features, but when wearing it during an activity it felt bulky and not natural. I exchanged it for the Brushed Silver and this one felt much better when active.

In terms of the star rating, this review started at four stars. After some adjustments, it goes up to four and a half—but since we can’t do half stars, I’ll still round it down to four. With that out of the way, here we go! When it comes to fitness trackers, I have tried many: Fitbit, Withings, Whoop, Google trackers, Samsung watches, Mio, Fuse, etc. While they all boast cutting-edge features, the experience often falls short for someone who takes physical activity seriously. Most of the fitness trackers I’ve used in the past are geared more toward people starting their fitness journey or those who treat it as a chore rather than a lifestyle. Not to say there’s anything wrong with that, but if you’re serious about fitness, you often lose interest after your tracker requires more information and input than it provides on its own. This is my first Oura Ring, and after using it for a bit, I rank it above the other trackers I’ve used. The tools it provides are genuinely useful and beneficial for getting the most out of an active lifestyle. While there are some shortcomings (which I’ll touch on later), it’s truly been one of the better experiences I’ve had with a fitness tracker. To make things easy, I’ll go over the good and bad in bullet points below. --- Aesthetics and Durability One of the issues that kept me away from past fitness rings was their finish and tendency to scratch easily. I am not gentle with my devices—when I own them, I use them to the fullest extent and don’t take much time to be delicate. Oura claims that the ceramic ring is much more durable than its metal counterpart, and thus far, that has proven true. Any marks that have appeared have easily buffed out, and I’m feeling more confident just wearing it around. I may still add a silicone cover, but I don’t worry much about it being destroyed without one. That’s a plus. In terms of aesthetics, the Midnight Blue color looks really, really cool. The glossy finish is eye-catching, and it doesn’t look out of place when worn as a ring. --- Activity Tracking This is one of those categories where the rating started low but went up slightly over time. When you first start wearing the ring, it lets you know that it needs some time to calibrate to your activities and lifestyle. At first, the ring did a terrible job tracking my activities. I’m very active—working out six to seven days a week with different intervals—so logging everything can become tedious. But I must admit, after using it for several days, the activity tracking has improved vastly. I recently tested it to see if it would log a run, and it did so right away, recording distance, speed, and estimated calories burned. In these instances, it’s very impressive. Where it’s still lacking is strength training. With all the sensors and metrics this ring can capture and display, it’s baffling that strength training isn’t recognized or prioritized. Many trackers are built primarily for cardiovascular activities, but in today’s world, we know strength training is equally important for building muscle and bone density. Having fitness trackers still overlook that is a missed opportunity. To be fair, no tracker currently does a great job of accurately logging strength training. I understand that with wrist trackers, grip and movement can interfere with heart rate readings, but with a ring, I’d hope for more progress. Since strength training is a big part of my weekly routine, this remains a sore spot. --- Comfort Now here’s a category where the ring shines. I have sensitive skin, and with all my previous wrist trackers—no matter what band I used—there was always some kind of irritation, either from the sensors or the band itself. Even after washing thoroughly, changing bands, or switching wrists, the issue persisted. Because the Oura Ring’s sensors are recessed, I’ve had no skin irritation. The ring itself is very comfortable and doesn’t get in the way of any daily activities. I only remove it during heavy deadlifts or presses—not for comfort’s sake, but to avoid crushing it under weight. Otherwise, it stays on comfortably all day. A note about sizing: when I received the sizing kit, size 11 was too small and got stuck on my finger, size 12 was just right, and size 13 was slightly large. Oura suggests going with the smaller size if you’re between two, so I chose 12. Now that I have the ring, I think maybe I should’ve gone with 11. There’s a noticeable difference between the plastic sizing rings and the actual ring when it comes to liquids (soap, water, etc.)—the real ring slides off more easily. Just something to keep in mind: go for a snug fit. --- The App and Overall Experience This is the bread and butter—and I’ll admit, it’s quite robust. The more I explored, the more value I found. One standout feature is the meal tracker. It works by taking a picture of your meal and breaking down several factors: processed foods, carbs, fats, proteins, etc. At first, not seeing actual calorie numbers was off-putting, but I came to appreciate it. It focuses on nutrient quality and how your meals affect recovery and well-being, rather than just calories. This helps you make better choices overall. Oura also includes an AI advisor that guides you toward healthier habits—something that would typically cost much more if purchased separately. Combined with the readiness and sleep scores, the app does a great job of helping you understand how rest and recovery affect performance. I also like that they’re expanding the health profile to include glucose management (through an add-on product) and lab-based blood work. While these come at an extra cost, they could be worthwhile for a complete health picture. Now for the downside: integration. My favorite heart rate monitor is MyZone, but it isn’t compatible with the Oura app. This is partly due to Google’s new Health Connect restrictions, so I can’t blame Oura entirely—but I still wish it were more open to other data sources. Initially, I questioned whether the subscription was worth it, but with features like the AI advisor, meal logging, and personalized insights, I can see the value. --- Big Negative These rings are pricey, and I noticed that the Android version does not have a “Find My Ring” feature, even though it exists on iOS. That’s astonishing. This is a major oversight because my ring once slipped off, and I only found it because my phone could connect to it—but it couldn’t give me a location. Only after reading the fine print did I realize that feature isn’t available on Android. That needs to be fixed ASAP. --- Final Thoughts After a few days of use, my opinion has changed significantly. At first, I wasn’t sure I’d recommend it to serious athletes or anyone deep into fitness—but as the days have gone by and the ring has adapted to my lifestyle, I have to say yes, I would recommend it. I’d also recommend it to anyone starting their health journey or just looking to improve their well-being. Oura has built something accessible for everyone. My biggest gripe remains the lack of attention to strength training—but until someone figures that out, I’ll just log it manually. All in all, I contend that this is the best fitness tracker I’ve used in terms of metrics, usability, and app features. For the most part, it truly lives up to the hype.

The Oura - Ring 4 Ceramic - Smart Ring is a new offering to the Oura lineup. The ring comes in four distinctive colors midnight, cloud, tide and petal. I received the midnight color which is my favorite color, I was really excited to see it in a ceramic version as I had bout the Oura 4 in stealth for my Christmas present to myself. I will start off and say, this thing doesn’t scratch like the original Oura 4 metals which is a godsend because I was afraid to workout, wear it outside doing yardwork or basically anything that required manual labor. Luckily, the Oura 4 Ceramic Ring does not scratch or scuff like its original counterpart. The comfort to this ring is best described as natural in my opinion, as I wear it on my right-hand index finger. It took about 2 days for me to get it to feel natural. The smoothness of this ceramic coating feels so nice, no rough edges. Where this feature came into play was working out in the gym, having a barbell in my hand it did not impede any motion or grip. Plus, the App kept track after my workout, and it asked did I just completed a activity and I verified it. Speaking about the APP, the app is super seamless, and it takes about 5- 7 days to get a baseline for your body to really get some insights on how you sleep, you sleep patterns or ideal sleep timer when you should wind down. These all have elevated my rest, my energy and recovery for each day. Lastly with the APP, if you have more than one ring you can easily swap to the one you are going to wear which made it very nice, going from my workout ring to my classy work ring. In my pictures you can see the detailed amount of information they give you. This has really benefited my health, as I actually have been on a weight loss journey. The Oura 4 Ceramic ring version will be another tool to help me in that journey! The detailed tracking for my stress levels and even letting me know if Im getting sick due to elevated temperatures helps. I am at my peak self-using this ring! I’m a firm believer in this product as I already owned the original, but they added this ceramic and its leaps and bounds better for those who work out!

I’ve been a huge fan of the oura ring for quite some time. I’ve had my generation 3 ring for years and have loved the health insights its given me over that time. The generation 4 rings have been out for a while and I didn’t upgrade until Oura’s newest release, the Oura ring 4 Ceramic. I was thinking about upgrading, but when I saw the colors, I knew I wouldn’t continue to resist the urge for a change. Similar to before, the oura ring ships in a small box. It comes with everything you need to get started. Of course you get the ring. There is also a redesigned charging base, at least compared to the generation 3 ring I had. You also get a USB-C to USB-C charging cord. Once you have the base plugged in and the ring on the charger, you are ready to go. With all things technology related, there’s an app to download. With the oura app downloaded and the ring on the charger, you’ll be able to easily connect your ring to your account in the app. When you put the ring on the charger, it will go into Bluetooth search mode and you use the oura app to guide you in the connection. It takes all of 30 second to 1 minute and you can put your ring on and begin your tracking journey. The 4th generation oura rings added improved sensors, called smart sensing, compared to the 3rd generation rings, which allow the oura ring to track 50+ health metrics, and give it the ability to add new features/metrics in the future. In the simplest terms, the oura ring and the app will track and measure your bio stats in 3 categories, giving you a daily score. Every day you’ll get a readiness score, a sleep score, and an activity score. With the add on oura membership, you get significantly more insight into your data on sleep, overall health, heart health, body temperature tracking, trends over time, and more. The membership is a nice to have, not an absolute must, but you will get a lot less info about your bio stats and limit the usefulness of the ring overall. All of this is the same for all of the 4th generation rings. The “old” 4th generation rings come in several metallic colors. The “new” 4th generation ceramic rings come in four beautiful colors, that all stand out and pop. It’s much more eye catching than the same old same old silver or gold that have been around for years. While I was a fan of all 4 colors, I love the midnight color, and that’s what I’ve got now. It’s a deep blue and it’s gorgeous. The ceramic finish looks better, the oura ring ceramic fits better, and feels like an improvement over the materials and finishes on other oura rings. Truth be told, from a functional standpoint, there is no difference I am aware of across the entire 4th generation ring family. It’s the same sensors, the same 5-8 day battery life, same connection and interaction with the app. If you are new to oura or are using a 3rd generation ring, the new ring will be an improvement in all of those areas. Beauty is ultimately in the eye of the beholder and you’ll have to decide whether the aesthetics of the oura ring ceramic are worth the extra money, because it’s all about the finish in this new offering. All I can say is the oura ring ceramic is a beautifully made tech item that is worth a look and a touch, but you might not be able to take your eye off of it, put it down, or take it off.

    Midnight Blue Color is Nice

My Overall Impression The Oura Ring 4 Ceramic seems nice, but I don’t know how much I trust the data it gathers. The app presentation is confusing. I do like the new midnight blue color that became available for the fall of 2025. What’s New The Oura Ring 4 Ceramic is an updated version of the Oura Ring 4 with new colors for the fall of 2025. The four new colors available are: cloud, tide, pet and midnight blue. I have the midnight blue which is a dark navy color with a gray hue. I like the color more than I expected and it seems to match well with a lot of the clothes that I wear. The Setup There’s not a lot to the set up. My ring arrived with around an 80% charge. You download the Oura app and connect the ring through Bluetooth. A key thing to know about the Oura Ring 4 is that you are required to activate a subscription to use it. More about that later. Once the subscription has been set up you can continue in the app. The app will ask you questions about your goals of how you expect to use your ring. Once everything is complete, the ring will continue to communicate with the phone sending it data to process. Oura Subscription You can’t just wear the Oura Ring and collect data. You are required to activate a subscription of which there are currently two choices: an Annual or a Monthly. That subscription takes the data and not only stores it but also interprets it in various ways. I didn’t know that a subscription was required to use this, so I was really surprised that I had to pay (after the initial 1 month trial) to use my new wearable tech. Data Collection I’m not going to name every type of data that the ring collects, but some of the data points are expected such as temperature, heart rate, and steps. Other things measured such as sleep time, sleep efficiency, heart rate variability, activity rates (calories burned), and stress are monitored, but I am not sure how they are determined. I have been able to determine that some of the data appears to be incorrect. • Steps – I also wear a smart watch that monitors steps. I chose a highly active day and compared the two step counts. My watch was 1600 steps higher than the ring. With as active as I was, I believe the watch. • Stress – Supposedly this ring can detect stress levels. I know that I have had several high stress moments today, and they are not reflected correctly in my chart / graph. Other Data Input The Oura Ring 4 allows for some manual input and connected input. Meals – You can log in meals. Activities – You can log in specific activities. Glucose – You can link certain glucose monitors to the app. The overall goal for the app appears to be that it’s a final collection point and it will process and connect the data together for a more complete picture of what’s happening with your health. It will also provide recommendations for ways to change your health or tell you that what you are doing is good overall. Data Presentation The data presentation needs work. I can tell that certain data types have been grouped together to create a narrative for that component of your health, but the way that it’s graphically shown could be better. There’s usually a graphic showing a bar with your high and low points. You can press a spot on the graph and it will create a line showing information at that point in time. The problem is that point of time may represent 15-30 minutes instead of the minute that you want to measure. It is particularly frustrating when you want to see the high or low points of the graph, but it doesn’t snap to them. Also, I’ve been using the ring for about a week, and certain data point still haven’t populated. Charging The Oura Ring 4 comes with a charging stand. It connects using a USB-C to USB-C cable that’s over 3 feet long. This model is expected to run 5 to 8 days on a full charge. My experience was similar to that. Final Conclusion I am giving the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic a 3 star rating. I like the new color, and it’s a neat idea. However, I’m not sure that I trust the data that I am seeing and there’s a required subscription just to use it.

I was curious about the Oura ring and had the opportunity to test the ceramic version. I selected the midnight color. I wish that I’d selected cloud instead of midnight. With the shine of the ceramic, the blue isn’t as deep as I’d hoped, but it’s not bright, so it’s a dark blue still. The ring is a bit bulky to me, but generally is comfortable. I have sensitive skin and it hasn’t bothered my skin, even wearing it pretty much 24/7 for a week, in the shower, to sleep, etc. I like that the ring is simple to wear for sleep tracking. It’s then easy to keep it on so that I don’t have to slip on my watch and get my watchband sweaty for my morning workout to be able to track my calories burned. The app has shown when it thinks I’ve worked out (I have elliptical marked as an activity that I usually do), and allowed me to edit it if I needed to before confirming the activity (once I did need to edit it, as it had my workout 20 minutes too long). It even recognized my yard work as yard work. One of the reasons I was curious about a ring as a tracker was for this, as I don’t wear my smart watch to do yard work or other sweaty outdoorsy stuff, and I’ve been curious about how many calories I burn. The data I get on sleep includes the different stages of sleep as well as awake time, and the ring was pretty good at recognizing my bedtimes and wake up. I liked that I could see when I was restless and had oxygen drops, and that it gives you a notice about issues. It tells you (note: you must have the subscription) total sleep, efficiency, resting heart rate, restfulness, latency, and the time in each stage of sleep. While you get your average oxygen saturation, I wish that it would show more detail and match up my oxygen levels to when it said I had variations, so I could see what kind of drop I had, and what my other stats were at the time. While Oura gives some good stats (if you pay for the subscription), and is convenient to wear, for the $500 price I would have to see the data details be included without having to pay a monthly subscription before I’d recommend it with a $500 price tag. To get much good out of the ring you have to purchase a $70/year subscription ($72/year if you do it monthly instead of annually). The three scores without the subscription don’t mean much, in my opinion. If I can’t see my data, I don’t see the purpose of having the ring. If it still sent my calories burned and workout heart rate to my Health app without a subscription, that would be a boon. Even using it just one year, a $500 ring becomes a $570 ring. I’d say wait for a big sale, or go for the non-ceramic, if you’re interested in the convenience a ring gives you, or if you don’t wear a smart watch (or wear one very often) and want to track your fitness and sleep throughout the day and night. The high cost caused me to knock off a star. The ring does a good job tracking and reporting, but you need the subscription to get that info, so keep that in mind.

    Stylish and Comfortable Smart Ring

I’ve been interested in Oura health and fitness rings for a while. So when I had the chance to test their newest ring, I was elated! I was particularly wanting to monitor my sleep patterns, heart rate, while also using the device to help manage my stress. The ring itself is beautiful. It’s really comfortable to wear, all day and night. I only take it off to wash my hands, do the dishes or shower, and it is then that I put it on its lovely little charger. Though I do have a ‘smart watch’, I choose to give my wrist a break from continually wearing it during the night. Now I am able to wear this ring to track my sleep, breathing, and heart rates with the Oura instead. In addition, you can connect the ring to other health and fitness apps, as well as, the Oura app itself. The Oura app is well organized and easy to navigate. It seems to update my information regularly, without any “glitchy” delays I’ve experienced with some other health/fitness apps. At a glance you can check your Vitals - Readiness score, Sleep breakdown, Activity Goals progress, Daytime Heart Rate monitoring, and Daytime Stress levels. You can even add an activity, record a workout heart rate, and log a meal in your Timeline section. There are also helpful research study articles you can read to educate yourself concerning the areas you want to focus on using your Oura ring. Once you’ve worn your Oura every day for a week, the ring will be able to Calibrate more about your health and fitness patterns. Every morning I’m actually excited to review my previous night’s sleep record, including my blood oxygen levels. I still need to get into a regular habit of recording my meals, but that will come with time. I’ve done this before, using a different health app, so it’s just a matter of adding that to my daily routine. A particular feature I’m fascinated to learn more about, and potentially participate in, is Oura Labs. I’m quite looking forward to being notified when a new experimental feature will become available for me to try out and evaluate. While the Oura Ring 4 is somewhat expensive, if you are considering purchasing one, think of this device as more than just a ‘fitness ring,’ but rather as a long-term investment to better assist you with improving your overall health. In addition, the $5.99/month or $69.99/annual cost of the Oura Membership is more than fair.

This is a fantastic product! I’ve worn it for about a week now and it’s given me fantastic insight into a variety of my health concerns including sleep quality and stress levels. Setup was super easy and charging takes a few minutes for 4-5 days worth of data collecting. The ring is insanely comfortable, and I’ve had several compliments on its look even in the first week of ownership. I was concerned about a ceramic ring’s durability, but that concern was not needed. This is built like a tank and hasn’t shown a single scratch despite banging into doorknobs, doing dishes, or even yardwork. Comparing its data to that collected by my Apple Watch over the same time period, the two are roughly within 5% of each other, so I’m reassured about the accuracy of the readings, and this lets me keep my watch recharging at night without fear of losing crucial health data. Setting up the ring and the app was super simple. It pairs in seconds and the rest is just typical sign-up info like any other new account. Easy for anyone of any age to set up and start their journey to a healthier lifestyle. Strongly recommend!!!!!!

The ceramic Oura Ring 4 is an excellent and conspicuous companion to keep track of your health and fitness. I have several fitness watches, which are indeed helpful in fitness, but not so much in health and particularly present a huge drawback in sleep. One of my main desires has been to track my sleep and the Oura ring has been outstanding in this. With watches, I wake up in the middle of the night with a strangled wrist only to take them off, but with the Oura, I forget I’m even wearing it. Not only that, but the biometrics it tracks and how it compiles them gives me insights that are extremely helpful in guiding me to make productive changes. *What’s included?* Along with the Oura ring comes a sized ring charger and USB-C to USB-C cable. Oura also offers to mail a free buffer to get rid of scuffs. *Quality of Product* This Oura ring is made of zirconia ceramic, making it so lightweight I now forget it’s even there. It did take a few days to get used to its size as it is quite wide and bulky. That said, it is extremely comfortable, with titanium on the inside that is smooth on the skin and the rounded edges making it easy to put on and remove. The zirconia ceramic is highly resilient, I almost immediately scuffed it with the handle of a pan while cooking, but the buffer Oura provided quickly buffed it off and made it look like new. The ring is made to withstand water immersion, heat, and cold. So, it can be used while swimming, in the sauna, and shower. I do not shower with it as I prefer not to, but I do plan to take it into the sauna as I like to track my biometrics while in there. *Featured Functions* • Activity tracking: This ring tracks activity phenomenally, to the point that I have been shocked several times. Not only does it know when I am busy just doing housework, it even knows when I take a nap. No other fitness tracker has been able to do that, and they usually try to nudge me to get up and walk around during naps, which only disturbs my nap. The ring then implements all of this activity into its readiness and stress score. • Readiness: This score will take several factors, with the main one being sleep, to tell you how ready you are to take on the day. It gives gentle suggestions with an understanding tone while explaining the reason for the score. • Sleep: This score has always been important to me because I know what difference it makes in my overall health but I struggle greatly with it. I have been checking times that I wake up in the middle of the night, and the ring has accurately gauged when I have been sleeping or awake. It includes analytics such as blood oxygen levels, heart rate variability, and several other biometrics that help understand the body’s sleep patterns. • Heart rate: The heart rate feature works perfectly, if not better than other fitness trackers. Because it is on my finger and does not slide around, there is no issues with lapses in the analytics. • Cycle: The ring uses nighttime temperature to detect the current stage of a woman’s menstrual cycle, but it takes 60 days to be able to start predicting so I am not currently able to comment on the accuracy as of yet. • Other biometric features: A few other included features are oxygen level and breathing. I really enjoy being able to understand where I am at with respiratory and cardiovascular health. Additionally, the ring compiles data to give info on resilience, cardiovascular age, and chronotype, all of which need more time before they can give me a result. I had not heard of chronotype, and I am quite curious as to what advice it will give me on my sleep schedule. *App* The Oura app provides an overview of all the of scores at the top, ring battery life, and makes everything else intuitive to find. It seems that they went for a calming appearance with their layout that does not overstimulate, and they achieved it. *Subscription* It is important to note that some of the analytic features I mentioned need a subscription, but I find the price for it reasonable for the value provided. Without subscription it provides readiness, activity, and sleep scores. *Battery Life* They state the ring has 5-8 days battery life, and for me it lasted until the middle of the eighth day. I am so grateful for this because I can get a whole week of biometrics without worrying about it dying in the middle of the day or night. It is much easier for me to choose a convenient time to charge it as well. It charges quite quickly, taking just over an hour to go from almost dead to fully charged. *Recommendations * I recommend choosing a size for a finger that is not next to fingers that you already put rings on as it might not get along with them plus it might scratch them since it is really high on the Mohs scale. They recommend using your nondominant index finger. I chose my dominant middle finger because I wear a watch and rings on my left and wanted to even that out and my right middle finger felt the most comfortable to me. This, of course, is what led me to scuff it right away and I do have to temporarily switch it to my left side when I am working with my hands even though it fits loosely. It’s definitely ideal to go with a size that fits multiple fingers, which I now kind of wish I had done. Also, the ring fits me well in the size I chose but it almost falls off when I have wet hands. The ring is slightly larger the ring sizer plus the rounded edges makes it easier to remove. With all this said though, it is not so loose that it rotates by itself, so it is still a good size and gives my finger room to swell, it’s just iffy when wet. I thought this worth mentioning as something to consider if you plan on using it while swimming. *Conclusion* I am truly loving this ring and how much insight I am getting into my health. I am also excitedly waiting for the rest of the analytics to load up. I think it is amazing that it can compile data to know when you might even have an underlying issue you are unaware of. There is so much to gain from something so small, conspicuous, and comfortable. I recommend this over a fitness watch.

It was great, perfect fit, and everything. The only downside to the O-ring is that you have to pay for a membership, but if you’re OK with that, then it’s a great fit for you.
