This was the first blue ray disc I purchased with my new LED TV. I fell in love with the story and the characters. Beautiful movie and wonderful technology!

Awaiting the improved transfer to be released 2012

This review is for the 2010 release of the film I purchased from BestBuy, which comes on on a double-sided disc, with the blu-ray version on one side, the DVD on the other. Although the blu-ray version is clearly an upgrade from the DVD, the transfer is definitely a disappointment compared to other catalog titles, especially considering the wonderful scenery incorporated into this film (do not expect Planet Earth-type visuals; the video quality here is significantly inferior). Universal is releasing a remastered/restored version of Out of Africa in March 2012 as part of their 100th Anniversary series. Hopefully, it will show much better the second time around. As it stands, the prior releases requires low expectations.

    Terrible blu-ray quality

This blu-ray was dumped into the market with no attention to quality. And now, adding insult to injury, Universal has remastered this film properly and released a completely new version with far better video and audio quality. So all we customers who bought this "older" release of "Out Of Africa" (less than 2 years ago) are hosed! Stay away from this version of the blu-ray. Tell Best Buy to ship them all back to Universal. Insist on the 100th Anniversary remastered version!
