Standout Album In An Otherwise Weak Rap Year.

In my opinion, 2014 was a weak overall year as far as Rap releases are concerned. However, there were a few releases that stood out. Run The Jewels 2, Pinata, 36 Seasons, Hallways, Mega Philosophy to name a few . The latest Pharoahe Monch album, PTSD, is another gem to add to that list. Pharoahe displays his incredible delivery and strong predilection for conceptual tracks. It's a somber portrayal of addiction, injustice and the struggle. If you're looking for happy-go-lucky Rap, go that way please. This is serious, mature, grown up Hip Hop. Long time Pharoahe Monch fans will find another great addition to a legendary (yet underrated) discography.

Pharaohe Monch's PTSD is the follow-up to W.A.R.(We are Renegades), it's a great concept album which covers a range of topics. Standout tracks to me are, Broken Again and the monstrous track Rapid Eye Movement as well as "The Jungle".

Another concept piece by Pharoahe with quality beats and some DEPTH to the lyrics. His flow is still technical and smooth, just like always.

A Cut for Cut masterpiece. After following 2 previous recordings that I would classify as the same(Desire, We Are Renegades) and not to mention his next level, ahead of its time work with the group Organized Confusion this record for me, puts Pharoahe Monch in my top 5 rappers of all time. He and MF Doom are probably the only rappers in my all time favorite list that has never gone platinum or maybe even gold. I bought 2 just to send one to my brother in Florida. Its that good.
