Marilyn Manson is relevant again. The Pale Emperor is a massive step forward after a few stale efforts. This album is heavy, dark, and angry, all while holding a new maturity that Manson has never had in his song writing. Lyrically, vocally, and musically, this is a near perfect album. Manson's voice has never sounded better; at times, he calls his inner-David Bowie, but it never sounds like he is trying to copy anyone. Rather, he's trying to be the best Manson he can be. Over 20 years after we came to know Marilyn Manson, he's somehow pulled off a masterpiece that just might be his best album ever. There's no filler and no cheap frills. From front to back, this is a phenomenal album and will go down as one of the year-s best.

Manson Continues To Evolve As An Artist

While his new sound might be a shock for some listeners Pale Emperor shows the continual growth of Marilyn Manson as an artist. You can hear in each song just how much thought went into each lyric and musical component. This is not the Marilyn Manson from Antichrist Superstar. His lyrics have more punch and the sound of the music is not as heavy in sound but are just as heavy in meaning as they ever were in the past. It is rare that an artist tries to evolve instead of simply cashing in on past success and Marilyn Manson continues to prove he is one of the few that isn't afraid to change and try something new.

Marilyn Manson is Back!!!

Marilyn Manson is back!!! When I heard first heard "Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge" I was blown away. Manson and Tyler Bates created a great record. The songwriting was perfect. Deep Six is the only heavy aggressive track. The rest are more of Blues Rock with a bit of cinematic ambient touch. If you were hoping MM would go back to his roots, then you'll be disappointed. If I had to compare this to his previous works, I'll say it reminds of me Mechanical Animals. Not literally, but the way he approach the songwriting and song structure, and the synth sounds. Overall, its a great album.

I may be a bit biased here, but his "band" for this album is Tyler Bates (of 300, & Devil's Rejects soundtrack fame). This gives it a creepy, almost Rob Zombie-ish western sound which is a touch different from the usual band, or Tim Skold/KMFDM sound he's had before.
Another fun touch is Walter Goggins playing "the Preacher", but I'm sure this was some kind of Sons of Anarchy deal.

I am a major Manson fan and think this work is some of his recent best. There is some of that Manson freakiness back finally but that intensity and edginess didn't make it to the live show. I believe he went a little too far with the live show to new stuff and continues to miss some of those killer songs we need to hear live.

This album is a departure for Marilyn Manson, but it's certainly welcome. After the inconsistency of his last few albums, hearing a more cohesive, yet different sound is refreshing. Side note, the extra songs on the Deluxe CD are actually acoustic versions of 3 tracks on the album, but are listed with different titles.

I love this album and everything Manson does. Tyler Bates and Manson go really well together. I have been waiting to own the song, "Killing Strangers" since I first heard it in the movie John Wick and freaked out because I knew it was new Manson right away. You are going to want to own this album.

Really good album by Mr. Manson! Get the deluxe edition for extra tracks. Also the CD tunrs from white to black after it has been played after a while. Really cool trick.

This album is noticeably more melodic and bluesy than his other records, which makes it palatable in a good way. This is one of his better albums: great writing and musicianship! Oh yes and the deluxe package is neat. It has a grainy texture on the cover and a thermal disc.

Marilyn Manson ruled the 90s and early 2000s. He was a god back then! Then he dropped off somewhere and nobody has really cared for his last several releases. I liked them tho. But THIS! This is Manson. Start to finish. Classic Marilyn throughout. Haha get it!!!!!

Some artists change their sound and it comes off as new/improved, but this one is a little too mellow for a Marilyn Manson release. I found one song on the whole CD sounded like his old stuff. Overall, not a bad CD, but definitely doesn't live up to his previous releases.

The last couple of releases (and this one in particular) combine a bit of glam with the goth of TGAOG. "Deep Six" is an awesome track, he doesn't scream so much as do a little "lounge lizard" crooning....but it a good way. It works.

Dark. Thoughtful. If thee is one thing few can argue with is Manson's ability to blend music, emotion and lyrics into an album that many connect to and many feel uneasy with. If you enjoy Manson's old music, buy this.

Love it, I cannot wait to see him and Billy in concert on Saturday! Great album MM! I had not had a hard CD in ages. The response to temperature is a cool feature. Definitely different than downloading it.

This album seems to be a new direction for Mr Manson. It's not the battery acid on tender skin like the first album but still a rocker. I can actually hear the oft mentioned blues influence. Good but different.

This album, compared to all their previous works, is overall a mature experience. Manson has always been darker and not the usual standard of music. This album changes all that, even my dad likes it!

The early 2000's were a bleak time for Manson fans, but with each album of the last few years, things just get better and better. This album is as good as Mechanical Animals, and that is saying something!

Not the Manson album I expected. A lot of singing and no screaming or in your face tracks. I miss that about him. Overall though, it is a very solid album taking a step back and looking at it as a whole.

This album is heavier than Born Villain. It's also a lot darker. My favorite song is track 7 : The Devil Beneath my feet. This is a great album for any true Manson fan to have in their collection.
