I think this microwave is great in that it's easy to use, heats items well, and looks sharp on the kitchen counter. The only problem I have with this microwave is that its beeps are very loud and their volume cannot be adjusted. Luckily I have gotten used to them, but if you prefer your upstairs neighbors not hear you heating up a Hot Pocket at 1am, then I would look for another microwave. Also, every button push comes with a loud beep, and when cooking is done, there are 4 loud beeps in a row, even if you open the door immediately. So again, if you don't care about the noise level, then this is great. If you prefer not to make a lot of noise though, then maybe get a different brand. I got used to the noise so you probably can too.

I've had varying success with microwaves in my life: most have been underpowered and anything but durable. Worst was a 600W mini microwave that took 6 minutes on HIGH to bring a single can of soup to a lukewarm temperature. The bowl was freaking hot, but not the soup. Bought an 1100W Panasonic microwave 10 years ago when we moved into our new house and it was the first microwave I owned that would actually heat food when run for the appropriate time. It's still going strong, so when I needed an additional microwave for my "mancave" I went looking for a similar model. Unfortunately, the one we have is installed into the wall, so getting the model number wasn't really an easy option. Did a quick Google Images search for Panasonic Microwave and viewed all the images until I found one that looks almost exactly the same as the one in our kitchen! Bought it straight away and have used it for a bit over a month now... and it's turned out to be just as awesome. Great price, great microwave -- large enough for a dinner plate, heats evenly and quickly. The power (1200W) is outstanding on this, for a non-commercial microwave. Popcorn button is almost perfect (seems to me 10-15 more seconds would pop a few more kernels without burning, but hey, close enough!) and on frozen dinners, I can choose the lower-end time and have it come out perfectly (i.e. if the dinner says "microwave on high for 5-6 minutes" then 5 is just right.) Very happy with the performance and value of this microwave!

Microwave performs well and is very user friendly. Only criticism is that it doesn't have an interior light, which my GE microwave had, and I do miss that feature. Other than that, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

This is a great microwave for small spaces; the keypad is easy to read and the microwave produces minimal noise when heating. I do wish that it had a light that stayed on once you opened the door, though. Other than that I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Nice stainless steel exterior, small footprint and great heating describes this microwave. The only negative to it is that the light doesn't come on when the door is opened, but it does come on when it heating food. But, its no big deal. Everything else trumps that minor nit-pick.

I had read many reviews on good countertop microwaves and this model got many good mentions. There is an updated model that is 1250watts, but the one I bought (1200w) is plenty powerful. I use the sensor reheat all the time for leftovers and my food always comes out HOT and thoroughly cooked through, but def not burnt or scorched. Very even cooking, and powerful! I've had to adjust my usual cooking times as I was used to a 1000w microwave before. Full discloure, I purchased this model as an "open box" so I didn't pay the listed price, which also makes this purchase a great deal (open box price: $99). The only possible cons I can think of are the push button door (I've heard handles are better for long term as the button can get stuck/break) and the chrome finish which attracts finger prints. I have tried all the heating features yet, so I can't really comment on the full options for cooking, but I can say with great surprise this microwave is pretty versatile.

I like this microwave because it is easy to keep clean, cooks fast, looks great and doesn't take a lot of room up on my counter top. The only con is that when I open the door after cooking, I cannot see inside it very well. Wish the light would stay on so you can better see the finished product.

This is a great microwave. The 1200 watts of power cooks foods quickly, in less time than the recommended cooking times for most packaged foods. This might be a problem for some, but it was easy to adjust to.
I have not used the Inverter tech much, but I have been quite pleased with the results when I did.
As others have mentioned, the lack of a light when opening the door is a bit of a problem. I would add that the light being on when the microwave is running is rather pointless because the glass door is very difficult to see through.
Unlike other reviewers, I have had no problems with the door being too difficult to open or close. Of all the microwaves I have owned, the door on this one has worked the smoothest.
All in all, I am quite happy with my purchase.

Having done my homework and deciding on a mid-size microwave , I have to admit the Panasonic NN-SN661 S was truly a best buy. Easy to use, works well, and low price. What more could you want?

Wanted stainless steel to match the kitchen but wanted a simpler format that my husband could use without "complicated instructions". This fits the bill - it looks great - not over sized but still handles full sized casserole dishes, works well and love the push button open. Definitely a super buy!

Our larger microwave (another brand) stopped working correctly for the third time in about six years, so we decided to buy a new one rather than throw more money into the old one. My mom has a Panasonic and has commented on their longevity, so they were on my list to consider. I checked out this NN-SN651B and it seemed to be solidly made, looked nice and had good reviews and a decent price. It is 1.2 cubic feet, which is smaller than our previous microwave, but we have found it to be just fine for our needs. It cooks fast and thoroughly. It’s true that the interior light only goes on when the microwave is cooking, not when the door is opened, but I don't mind. There is enough light in our kitchen to see inside. Actually, I sometimes leave the microwave door open to let moisture dry out after cooking certain items, and not having the light go on saves electricity when I do this. It does not have a mute feature or ability to lower the volume for the button sounds or beeping when the cooking is done, as our old unit did (nice when you have a sleeping child in a small house). However, I didn’t see this feature on any of the new microwaves I checked. I also should say that I plugged this new microwave into an outlet that is on a different circuit than the refrigerator, as I read on the Web someplace that being on the same circuit could shorten the microwave’s life due to the ‘fridge compressor going on and off. So far, this microwave has worked well and had no problems.

Good stuff: Sn 661s, The microwave uses their inverter technology with an excellent sensor system that accurately defrosts, reheats, cooks, all easy to use with preset menu or task selection on the keypad. They mastered this technology 30 years ago. I am glad they offer this system through out their model lineup. It works every time, no guessing. Just like the one I had 30 years ago which worked for over 10 years, gave it away still working when went to a built in,
Fair stuff: (not a big deal for me but you decide for you) since this unit is a lower priced unit it does not have a light inside when you open the door, just on while cooking,
It beeps 4-5 times when done without ability to silence,
A little noisy, but a no scoot pad under it made a difference, should say I have noisy granite counters,
A big improvement over the g e unit that came with the house.
Anxious to update the kitchen and go to the built in version,

It does have power. Reheating is efficient. It's counter top footprint is minimal making it easy to place in kitchen.
It's inside dimensions make it possible to use a dinner plate or a slightly larger serving plate to reheat food.
I think it makes too much noise. It is louder than my prior Microwave.
The light only comes on when cooking. I would like the light to come on when I open the oven door.

Was looking for a counter top microwave reasonably priced and reviews were good for this microwave. It has lived up to expectations and does a good job of heating. The only issue I have is that the light does not come on when the door is open.

To save counter space, we sold our larger microwave and replaced it with this Panasonic model. It's a nice little machine, and we're happy with its performance and appearance. It's big enough to cook anything we need yet not a monster on the counter. It cleans up easily and cooks evenly, with good flexibility in power levels and functions. The only down side is that it's a wee bit noisy. But we're pleased with it overall and would recommend it to others.

This microwave oven is a great size and has great features. It is very powerful, and the controls are simple and intuitive to master. If it had an interior light that came on when the door is open, it would be a perfect choice.

This microwave looks great and works great. It heats everything quick, looks sharp and is easy to operate. The only thing keeping it from five stars is the lack of a light when the door is open and how hard the numbers are to read when looking at it from above. It lights up when the microwave is running, but not when opening to check on the food. We have it placed around waist level, which makes the numbers almost impossible to read without slouching down. However, I still recommend it.

Pro: I like the smaller size.
Inversion heating seems to dry out the food less.
Got a great deal with free shipping at Best Buy.
Con: Light inside only goes on when the unit is cooking. It goes out when you open the oven door. Would prefer the light to stay on when the door is open.
Would like a little more info in the booklet about the inversion heating buttons.
Stainless steel around the open door button shows fingerprints too much. Black plastic would work better there.

Nice size, plenty of power but noisier than our old microwave. We would have loved the light to come on when you opened the door instead of only when it is cooking. We got it on sale at a great price.
