Wet/Dry Shaver

As someone who has tried electric razors in the past but keeps going back to the manual blade razors I wanted to give this a fair try. I have never had an electric razor that I could use in the shower so this was an intriguing feature. Now in all fairness, the instructions with the razor say to use it for 30 days as it will take some time for your skin to get use to the new shaving device. I'm a week in but can say I am already starting to see a difference. I am very picky about my shave and prefer a close clean shave and as I continue to use this razor it seems to be getting closer to where I like my shave. So far no complaints with this device.

Nicely Simple Wet/Dry Shaver

Tested it out first day in front of the mirror with just wet skin. Shaved well and didn't irritate my skin overly (just a bit more than a disposable manual razor).
Tested it the second time in the shower, warm wet shave with shave cream. Worked like a charm with no skin irritation what so ever.
Charge seems to last a good long while.
Mission accomplished.

Nice Basic Shaver

This is a nice rechargeable basic shaver. The ergonomics feels good in the hand with its rubberized grip it can be used wet or dry which is great. Comes with a nice cloth case to store it in. It provided a clean shave that didn't irritate my skin. It charges on a base that plugs into the wall. Which I'm not too fond of. Also there is no battery indicator on the unit itself. All in all it is a decent shaver.

I have to say that for pretty much all my life I have used the shavers with the 3 circle blades. I have never had very much luck with the kind like this. I always found that I got a better shave with the other type. This one has changed my mind though. It does take a little while to get used to it. Panasonic recommends using it for a full 30 days to get the best results.
I love that you can use it wet or dry and even with shaving cream if you want. I easily get a full week out of a charge...sometimes even more. I find that it gives me a great shave...about as close to using a regular razor as you can get. This is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a new electric razor!
There is only one small gripe I have about it. When you are using the little pop up trimmer for sideburns and things...the full size razor is still going. The first time I used it I was trimming my goatee above my lip and the regular part of the razor caught the part below my lip and shaved a chunk out of it. Would be nice if when you popped up the little trimmer if the larger part of the razor would shut off. But now that I am aware of this I am more cautious not to let it hit me anywhere while I am trimming.

Mixed feelings (compared to traditional razor)
|

I have typically used a razor & shaving cream to shave in spite of occasionally using an electronic shaver when I am extra hairy in the face (I frequently wear my facial hair in different styles at varied lengths, although I never go for the all-out lumberjack look; I also sometimes go totally clean shaven). This shaver states in the instructions that it may feel very different on your face and will take time to adjust tothe feeling; The instructions were very accurate, disturbingly so.
First, I would say that past electric shavers I've used have felt good against my skin, but have typically not been able to cut as close as a traditional razor. I believe this Panasonic is trying to emulate the feeling of having a razor against your skin (especially the touch-up trimmer built into it), but instead, it creates what i can only describe as a feeling that it is actually "gripping/holding/pulling up" your skin in the razor as yo move it across your face. I have NEVER felt that kind of feeling with ANY kind of shaver, and although it does not hurt, it definitely feels uncomfortable and worrisome. Since my facial hair does not grow at a rate that requires daily shaving, this feeling against my skin would definitely take an extended amount of time to adapt to.
Skin feelings aside, my biggest problem with this razor is that it does not get as close of a cut as you would think considering how it feels against the skin. I found it to be fine as an accompanying tool to a traditional razor, but much too uncomfortable against the skin and not a close enough cut/shave to replace using a traditional razor altogether.
For someone who is coming from traditional razor use, this might not be the product for you if you are looking for an electronic replacement for your razor, however, if you are just looking to supplement or prep your traditional razor use, or to have an electronic tool to cut your facial hair quicker when you have grown it out, this performs fine in spite of the skin gripping feeling.
I would NOT recommend this to anyone who is coming from traditional razor usage that also shaves daily or multiple times a day, due to the skin gripping feeling and the inability to get an absolutely clean close shave. Everyone else looking for a supplemental shaving tool should be fine with this. Would only recommend to friends who already use an electric shaver as their sole/primary shaving tool.

Like all razors, it can take up to 30 days for your "beard" to adapt to it! But once it does it shaves as well as much higher priced models of similar design.

Solid, Comfortable Feel, and Great Shave

My experience with electric razors in the past has not been a good one. However, when I opened this and gave it a try I found it to have a nice comfortable feel, easy to glide across my face and head, and easy to clean. I really like the 'Wall Wart" charger that eliminates the need for a heavy cord. Just plug the razor into the base and plug the base into the wall, clean and easy. The trimmer is on the useless side as it does not stick above the shaving head sufficiently to keep the head from bumping into my beard when trimming my mustache. But I have a really good dedicated grooming device so that doesn't matter to me anyway. There is a little note that comes with the shaver that warns that it may take some time for your skin to get used to this new device. I did not find that to be true. It was smooth, cool and provided a very close shave with ease. Definitely a good value.

Could have been a 4-5 except for the charging base

I like the shaver. It works as it should and the design of the razor itself is good. The sideburn trimmer is tucked nicely out of the way when one isn't using it. The downside is the charging base. The base is one piece and the 110v prongs are what hold the unit to the wall. Unfortunately for me, my outlet is below my medicine cabinet in both bathrooms. If I plug it in the top outlet, I can't open the medicine cabinet door and if I use the lower one, I lose access to the top outlet. If the design allowed for the base to stick out a bit further, I could leave something else plugged in the top outlet. As it is, I have to find a suitable place to charge the unit or I'm going to need to add another gfci outlet to the bathroom. If this isn't a problem in your current setup, then I'd recommend this to you because the shaver works as it should.

High speed razor that's affordable

I needed a new razor and wanted to try a new brand after years of using a variety of leading-brand razors. I selected the Panasonic ARC 3 (ES -RT17) due to the reviews I saw and it's affordable price.
The razor has 10,000 RPMs which is good because it reduces the amount of "biting" that slower/older razors have. The flexible head follows the contours of your face (or other body parts). The foil is super thin and I noticed a considerably closer shave than my last razor. The trimer has a slide-up feature and is angled at 45 degrees to help fine-tune your sideburns or beard.
The unit has a great contemporary look and I haven't had to re-charge the battery for the first two weeks.
I think this razor has a lot of value built into an affordable price.

Excellent Build Quality but Not for me.

This Panasonic electric shaver was my first return to electric shaving in many years. Ive always used a blade to shave but thought I'd give electric another shot.
The warnings in the packaging are clear. It takes up to a month to get your face used to this and any electric shaver. For me personally what it came down to was how long it takes to shave. I felt like I was shaving for about 10 minutes and it still didn't get all the hair. This was the reason I went away from electric shavers in the first place. I can shave my head and face in less than ten minutes with a blade.
The Panasonic shaver is a great build and has the ability to shave in the shower which is neat. The charging system is cordless, though, you connect the shaver to the dock which plugs into the wall. Cool concept but takes up space on the wall.
This shaver wasn't for me. Im sure others will have a differing opinion but I'll be sticking with my blade.

Average Shaver

The shaver works ok but I couldn't get the "close shave" that I was hoping to get from it. I do have a couple of scars on my chin and those areas especially, still had too much stubble after using this shaver. I don't like that when you are using the trimmer, the shaver is still operating. I think panasonic could have easily figured out a way to disengage the shaver portion while the trimmer is activated.
Overall, I guess like anything else, the more you use it, the more you'll get better results. Practice makes perfect I reckon but for now, I think I'll use a razor most of the time

Another electric shaver

This electric shaver is nothing spectacular. It is just another cordless electric shaver for the convenience of a quick shave on the go. It does have the usual attachments and good blade, but these shavers never seem to get as close as I would like. The blade is nice to where it doesn' t pull or get snagged so that is a plus, the battery seems to be average, and it gets the job done. If you want a quick shave this will work.

Like other electric shavers, it doesn't work

Since the first thing you do with a rechargeable device is charge it, let's start with the charger. It's compact, which is great for storage and travel. But, the shaver fits directly into the charger and it's relatively heavy. This means it tips over easily, and if your outlet does not fit very tightly against the charging prongs, the entire assembly will fall out. Good idea in the lab, difficult to use in the real world.
Now to the important part, how it shaves. I wear a neatly trimmed beard, so I was asking it to shave above and below the beard (neck and cheeks). I was disappointed. Stubble remained in both places, and a follow-on pass with a traditional razor confirmed that it wasn't even close.
Overall, it might work for someone with very light beard growth, but for me the shave it delivers is completely unacceptable.

Terrible shaver.

By far the worst shaver I have ever used. After about 10 minutes of use you can give up when you notice all the missed patches and poor shaving. I would not recommend for anyone to waste their time or money with this poor excuse for a shaver.
