I had a previous Panasonic model, and the battery eventually wore out after many years of heavy use and travel around the world. I liked the previous model so much that I would not consider buying anything other than an equivalent Panasonic replacement.
The Arc 5 has 5 shaver heads compared to 3 for the previous model. My first thought was that this was excessive and unnecessary, but on trying it for the first time, I discovered an even more comfortable shave.
This is a wet/dry shaver with long battery life (both charge and durability), quick recharging, replaceable heads, and a popup trimmer. It comes with a leather case and a plastic cap to protect the shaver heads. It is a relatively expensive choice, but it's well worth the money for a comfortable shave with something I use every day.

I purchased this after reading many reviews, and it seemed to be the best value for the money. After using this for a while it has been great. Nice shave, easy to clean, and hold a charge very well. With its 5 blades it's hard to beat for any price and handles the curves of my face very well.

Works great- I moved to the Panasonic Arc5 from an older Braun. I researched electric razors quite a bit and landed on the Arc 5. I'm amazed how close it shaves and love the ease of cleaning it under the faucet. My Braun had a clean and charge station which worked great, but got really expensive constantly buying cleaning solution that evaporated. I've had the Arc 5 for about 2 months now and I love it. Plus its very reasonably priced. You can get newer versions of this razor for more money, but this Arc5 does everything I expect.

Best electric shaver I’ve ever owned. Decided to buy this one after checking out many reviews and have not been disappointed. Very close shave for an electric shaver, great lasting charge and also very easy to clean. Very satisfied

Have been using a older model of Panasonic Arc shaver with 4 blades for the last 10 years or so. It was definitely getting old and beat up from travel. Bought this ARC5 model when it went on sale $100 off. It's definitely much quieter than my old ARC4. The shave is close and battery lasts over a week. One thing I had to get used to is the blade position design. There are 5 cutting blades: Two sets on either side plus one in the center for cutting any long ones that are laying down. The 2 sets of blades on either side of center do most of the work. The most outer blades cut the hair down to a level where the next blade over cuts it to skin level. This is different from my older version where these blades were swapped in these positions. I'm finding that the newer ARC5 is hard to get a smooth shave just under the nose and up to the side burns because the outer most blades on either side IS NOT the blade that shaves the closest. This means you have to work it in quite a bit around those areas to get a good close shave. I liked the older opposite design better. However all in all its a good shaver that cuts well to a smooth finish without causing any burn.

I have sensitive skin and hair that grows in several directions. Over the years I have tried all the major brands and either I'm usually shaving my face raw to get a close shave. Painful! Only Panasonic seems to do well for me. It helps that Panasonic makes great wet/dry shavers. Let me tell you, if you have sensitive skin but haven't tried a wet shave yet, you don't know what you're missing!
The Arc5 is my third generation of Panasonic shaver. They've come a long way. Panasonic uses three kinds of cutters: a beard trimmer (which pops out of the side of the shaver), a course cutter blade, and a fine cutter blade. You need the course cutter for the long hair and the fine cutters to bring the short hair to a close, clean shave. In the past models there were two fine cutters - one on top and one on the bottom - and sandwiched between them was the course cutter. This worked, don't get me wrong, but if you had long hair they first met the fine cutter which tended to tug on them. The Arc5 fixed that. Now it has two course cutters - one on top and one on the bottom - which sandwich two fine cutters between them. Now all hair meets the course cutter first and then goes on to the clean, close shave. Amazing! Not only that, but the RPM of the motor is much higher in this model than previous. I kid you not, this thing is like a beard eraser. I have never had a better shave outside of a safety razor. The downside to this is four blades makes a huge head. This razor is much bigger than earlier generations. Feels a bit like one of those oversized men's watches. I would give this thing 6 stars if it wasn't for that, but it's a small price to pay.
In summary, you will LOVE this razor, but it's very big. If you do your beard close with precise lines, like Prince, this isn't for you. But that's a niche market. If you're a regular guy with sensitive skin and unruly chin whiskers, this is a highly recommended tool.

Have had this for a couple of months and so far, so good. Shave is closer than the Braun I have been shaving with the past 10 years or more. Time will tell how long the blade stays sharp. Holds a good charge and recharge is quick.

After thoroughly reviewing the various models that might suit my needs, I continued to return to the positive reviews of Panasonic Arc5. Currently in my early 50s, I have for more than 10 years maintained a bald head through the use of Mach3 triple-blade hand razor & shaving cream. While the tri-blade razor has always done the trick, there have been any number of times that I'd wished I could shave my face and head (simply while wearing a T-shirt and yet without getting into shaving cream and then rinsing & drying off). I'm so glad I purchase the Arc5. It absolutely gets as close a shave on my face as I got from my Mach 3 hand razor. And my head gets nearly as close a shave as the hand razor as well...certainly close enough to not wish to discredit in the electric shaver. I have yet to use it in it's wet capacities in the shower, but I accept through others' reviews, that it will do just fine as a wet shaver as well. From my experience this far, With great battery capacity, easy cleaning, and more than acceptably close shaves, I highly recommend the Panasonic Arc5 shaver and have been enjoying it thoroughly so far.

This is the best electric shaver I have ever used! real close shave with only slight irritation around my neck area but I also have very sensitive skin. Love this! battery life is really long too. I bought this around christmas and charged it once and still have not put it on the charger as of Feb 3rd. I also only shave like once a week or two though. I did use it periodically to trim my nose hair though too lol. so take the battery life as you will.

Updated from an older model of the same shaver. Panasonic are my favorite electric razors. This new model shaves closer with less irritation than my older one. It is fully submersible so it can be used in the shower. Easy to use, easy to clean.
Hello there! Thank you for upgrading with us and for the 5 stars rating! We're glad to hear the new model is delivering a closer shave with added comfort, that's exactly what we designed it for. It’s great to know you're enjoying the versatility of using it in the shower and how easy it is to clean. We truly appreciate your continued trust in Panasonic shavers! - F

I was skeptical that a Panasonic Arc 5 would give me a close shave, given my tricky, substantial beard and all of the years I've read about rotary shavers being the best for cutting whiskers that lie flat or grow in different directions. So, after using my new Arc 5 shaver for over a week, I am surprised and delighted to report that from the first day of use it has provided me a much closer shave than I have been getting with my Norelco 9000 series shaver. The head effectively reaches all of the contours of my angular face, and this shaver makes shaving easier and faster than was the case with my Norelco, now that my face is adjusting to the Panasonic foil system.
The shaver is very easy to clean, by turning it on in "cleaning mode," and running the foil and the blades under cold water. I've washed it in cleaning mode with a little soap and water twice, and it rinsed clean very easily. The digital display is helpful and very visible, and the shaver does seem to reach a full charge in about an hour. At about five minutes per shave, I will get over a week of shaves on a charge. I was a Norelco rotary shaver guy for over 40 years - but now I'm definitely a Panasonic shaver guy. I hope they never stop making shavers this good.

I was skeptical about using an electric razor again—hadn’t used one for decades. I just never felt like they got all the whiskers or stubble. But this razor is awesome! It doesn’t get hot when rubbing on my skin, it does pick up long and short whiskers and it keeps a great charge for traveling. It works very well on head shaves, too. Easy cleanup every time. I would definitely recommend this razor.

I am surprised to be honest. I have used electric razors in the past but they just didn’t cut close enough so I switched to razor for maybe 3 decades. I read reviews and decided to try it. I shaved dry and with cremo cream. Both worked very well. I would say as close as a blade - Gillette Fusion 5 blade that is. Although shaving with shave cream works, it’s messy so I probably won’t do it much if at all. It rinses out super easy though. This unit is so easy to rinse/wash. Amazing device!
