    Decent Player for the Money

Blu-Ray Player does a good job at what it's supposed to, menu system is less than intuitive. I would recommend purchasing in-store rather than having shipped. Model I bought was scratched, not due to a shipping problem. Scratches so not affect player performance. Being stationed in Afghanistan makes it difficult to swap for a different player.

    Love Blu-Ray!

Shocked and delighted by how much better the sound was! Expected the increase in picture clarity, and am quite delighted to be able to see dark scenes in movies that just weren't clear on our projector with our DVD player. Definitely improved our viewing experience for movies! The only drawback is that it takes so long to boot up and move through menus. But it's a minor inconvenience to get the experience!

Purchased new, HDMI does not work properly

Purchased the Panasonic Blu Ray new during Christmas 2009 from Best Buy. I read the reviews online and thought the price of $129 was a great deal. I've had the player since December, and haven't experienced a problem until March 2010. The player would not play Blu-Ray or regular DVD's and would display a U73 error code. I have a LG 1080 TV and both units were connected with an HDMI cable. I original HDMI cable was a dynex brand, and I thought that might be the problem. I upgraded my HDMI cable( spent $60) thinking that would resolve the problem. Contacted Panasonic customer service and they're aware of the U73 code error and basically tried to push me off on LG Customer Service and advised me to call them since it is the setting with my brand new LG TV. Very sorry I purchased this product and cannot recommend the brand. My Sony Blu Ray and LG Regular DVD all work fine with my new TV, yet Panasonic thinks the problem is not their fault. Check the Internet and you will see all of the post regarding the U73 HDMI error code.

I bought it refurbished but didn't have it a month and got an sdm card error once. It hasn't came back yet but that was yesterday. If it happens again then I will return it.

Fantastic picture - Blu-Ray or Upconvert

This unit was a "refurb" (as all Panasonic of this model seem to be). I am so pleased with the upconvert quality...and the Blu-Ray is nothing short of phenomenal. I have not tried all the features as of yet (USB, card reader, internet connection), but if DVD and Blu-Ray playing were all it did, the Panasonic DMP-BD605 is well worth the price.

If you are looking for a Blue Ray player just spend the extra money on a new one. When I got it I was excited $129 for a BlueRay!!! Connected it hit play started working looked really good. After 5min of playing the screen said goodbye. After that it took less and less time to keep turning its self off. I'm sure the Panasonic BlueRay is really good I just don't recommend buying a refurbished one. I went back to BestBuy told them what was wrong the returned it in 2 seconds like always. Got the Samsung BlueRay on sale for $149 have had no problems with it.

I have seen a couple other bray players, and this one appears just as good with big sized TVs (+50"). Best bang for the buck.
