First I bought an LG 55 inch led an was at first impressed, after a few days I could tell the volume would thunk really loud if the volume was up some what high, I was very upset, brought it back an went back to plasma. I have had a Panasonic plasma for 3 years before that an same with my dad. I love them, built with quality an durable unlike some LEDs I see, could be the flat panel, but to me I want a little thickness not real thin. The sound is good an i love the picture. The glare can be a hassle at times but good as long as you don't sit directly behind something bright. I love the black levels an brightness is very nice looking. LEDs do look brighter but with the dark levels being almost foggy I think plasma is the way to go. The tv itself looks good, has a nice controller, an the Internet option is just nice to have even though I have an Xbox. The Netflix is all I have used but seem to work well, and Also has a media center for pictures an video. In all I think it looks great an love the silver lines on top an bottom. I haven't got the hd reciever yet as its in the mail but even standard def. looks somewhat decent but hd definitely makes it a lot better as I can tell watching movies on my Xbox. In all had it a week an is very impressed and haven't noticed anything yet besides a glare if directly behind a light.

Outstanding TV for the money

I just bought the Panasonic VIERA TC-P50S60 plasma TV, and I must say, it is an outstanding TV for the money. The picture is perfect (true, deep blacks compared to CCFL/LED LCD TVs), buttery smooth, and razor sharp. The sound quality is also very good for internal speakers on a slim TV, which really surprised me. A friend talked me into getting this TV over LED-LCD TVs in the same class, and I am glad he did. In my opinion, this is hands down the best 50" 1080p TV you can buy for less than $1,000. Being a plasma TV, it has some advantages over the current LED TVs due to the true blacks and no back-lighting issues that seem to plague LED TVs.
I found the TV menu to be quite user-friendly and easy to configure all settings. The built-in WiFi (802.11 N) is rock solid. The Netflix & Amazon Prime apps are awesome. We're really enjoying streaming HD content directly to the TV rather than through another device. The Netflix app in particular is very good. Zero issues streaming our favorite TV shows.
I have some minor gripes: 1) only 2 HDMI inputs, 2) red light is on while the TV is on, 3) the stand seems a bit wobbly, 4) the Panasonic Viera remote apps for Android phones could be better. Again, these are pretty minor issues. I can use an AV receiver to handle additional HD inputs for my game consoles. The red light isn't very noticeable except when it is completely dark in the room, and this may be something that can be fixed in a future software update. And the stand seems a bit wobbly, so I do recommend a VESA wall mount if that is a possibility. And I hope that Panasonic continues to work on the Viera remote apps for Android devices, as there is a lot of unrealized potential there.
Otherwise, this is a great TV, and I highly recommend this TV for anyone that wants a quality product at an excellent price.

Best TV EVER!!!!

First of all I would like to say, PLASMA is the way to go. I have tried numerous TVs from 50" - 65 " LED 120 to 960 Motion Blur processing. None of them compare to a Plasma. Especially a Panasonic Plasma. Don't get me wrong, I also own 42 and 50 Samsung Plasma TVs that are 7 years old and there are still going on strong (No burn-in what so ever).
I love watching sports and playing games on the TV and LED IS NOT the way to go. Trust me, you will get annoyed trying to adjust the Motion Blur content. With Plasma, just connect and your ready to go!
PROS:
To many to list. Just get one if you can. You won't be disappointed. If you love clarity and deep blacks, go with Plasma. If you like the Soap Opera affect and annoying picture settings, go with LED.
CONS:
The only downside to the Panasonic P50S60 is that it only comes with 2 HDMI ports. But nothing a good Receiver won't take care of. I found a good Sony receiver with 5 HMDI ports just under $200.
Hope this helps.

I originally purchased a LG TV which after just 4 weeks of usage was totally unhappy with. I went back to BestBuy and spoke with the store manager who took back the TV .He just wanted nothing more then for me to be a satisfied customer .With refund in hand I proceeded to look for another TV. The sales person I met was extremely knowledgeable and helped me find the right TV in my budget. This TV picture quality is so good I can't see why anyone would spend more .The colors are accurate ,black levels are strong and the features work for me. BestBuy had the best price including on line pricing. I suggest if your in the market for a 50" or larger TV you take a look at this TV.

If anyone knows Panasonic then you should also know that internal parts came from Pioneer (Pioneer sold their tv stuff to Panasonic) I just bought this tv to replace a 2008 42" plasma (which was awesome). Panasonic still delivers with this tv and then some and couldn't be happier. Gaming, movies and satellite tv is phenomenal. Don't judge by store displays on plasma tvs, because in home is superb compared to store displays of plasmas (of course stores are using 500-1000watt lights). Overall best tv true to color and no ghost effect like u get with LED tvs and the refresh can't be matched on an LED/LCD and has been that way for years.

Excellent Big Screen Gaming TV

I have this TV now. What attracted it to me was the input lag. I had 2 big screen Samsung LED/LCD Tvs in the past. They look great but not good for gaming even on gaming mode. I searched for TVs for weeks then came across this TV on a TV review site that were comparing big screen for gaming. Not only is this a good TV for gaming it is good for movies too because the color depth and the speakers are very good for a flat screen. It has the lowest input lag for it's price and since it's plasma has a great refresh rate. If you are a gamer looking for a big screen I highly recommend this TV.

Panasonic and Plasma = Perfectly Happy

I bought this product at my local Best Buy store after returning a 47" Vizio. I have a 42" Vizio that I was moving into the Master Bedroom and was interested in going up a little in size for the main TV in the living room. The picture on the Vizio wasn't what I expected at all. After three frustrating days of trying to fine tune the new set...I took it back. I hadn't given any thought to a Plasma set because I had heard and read some of the various negatives about them over the years. My sales associate at Best Buy did an excellent job of clarifying some of the opinions that had led me to believe Plasma HDTV's were a substandard product compared to LED/LCD sets. He also mentioned that Panasonic does Plasma better than any other manufacturer. My set is 50' and has every bell and whistle. I bought it on sale for a nearly half of what a comparable LED HDTV with the same features would have cost. I'm extremely happy and would encourage anyone that's in the market who may have the same perceptions of Plasma sets to give them a second look. Thanks Best Buy!

Great first big-screen plasma set!

This is my first large screen television, the sales person did not steer me wrong.
While the sound is about average, it's much better when piped through an external receiver. Also, this set is minimal in terms of connections. HDMI x2, and the Component and RCA share a set of jacks. Audio is limited to one optical out.
The remote is awesome, and the apps (both android and ios) are awesome to turn your phonen into a remote or a media server for use with the tv!
And the picture. omg. it's the best i've ever seen. i'm almost upset i didn't go for 3d, but...this is worth it. wow.

Replaced an 8 year old 42" LG plasma that died too early. Shopped around, read pages of review and asked a lot of questions whether to move to LED technology LCD. Wanted great picture, decent sound, minimal blurring when viewing sports - and to stay under $1000. Unanimous recommendation was to go plasma provided room light could be controlled to limit glass screen reflections. (No problem - lots of windows in room but good blinds allow me to control light.) Best choices were LG and Panasonic, and my LG just died, so dug into Panasonic. Found same tv at similar prices at Best Buy and Costco, and chose Best Buy for a few reasons: they recycle old electronics, they have more of a focus on electronics and it was easier to find a knowledgeable sales associate (more on that later) and they would have delivered it to my home if I needed them to. While one of the Best Buy associates didn't quite understand how an LED/LCD screen worked, they had more knowledgeable sales people readily available to answer my questions. Plus I have a hard time buying major electronics from a store where I can also buy underwear, fresh salmon and laundry detergent by the case.
Best Buy helped me load it in my SUV (fit nicely in the back of my Pilot.) and got it mounted using the same brackets purchased for the old flat screen. Note: be prepared to make a trip or two to the hardware store as there is no standard for mounting and you probably will need different metric thread mounting bolts specific to the TV that are not included with the TV. After getting it secured to the wall, set up was very easy. It has enough ports to hook up to the WII, disc player, future sound bar and computer. I would recommend investing in an easy to use set up disc to help adjust colors and brightness for your room as you can fine tune to get an amazing picture. I have one made by the folks at Monster that cost about $20 and if you can see the picture and follow simple instructions you can do it yourself. If you don't want to mess with it, the folks at Best Buy can come out and set it up for you for a fee. If you are investing in a large screen TV, make the small additional investment to get it set up right for your room.
Great picture at a great value. And the money I saved will pay for beer, chips and wings during the upcoming football season.

GREAT GAMING TV

I am an avid Gamer, and needed a TV that had no screen lag,and would hopefully give me more clarity, with a larger screen. I have never had a Plasma before, and was a little apprehensive at first, but I can HONESTLY say that I AM NEVER OWNING ANYTHING LESS!
The picture quality is Phenominal, and there is absolutely NO lag when I am in the heat of the BattleField with my Team. The difference between my 46" LCD w/120hz ,and this 50" Plasma w/600hz is even hard for me to explain; so ,I will repeat what my Friend (BESTBUY Assoc. in Valdosta Ga.) Alaric told me, "It's Panasonic,Plasma is what they do.." I could not have said it any better. Thankyou Alaric for recommending this FABULOUS Television.

Great TV...in a dark room.

I owned an older Panasonic Plasma, which I loved. LED/LCD TV's are not my cup of tea...just too bright, and not a true picture for a movie lover. That said, when it came time to replace my plasma (broke under product replacement plan)...this was the comparable set. I will say a few things about it:
1) The features were identical, with some nice additions.
2) The expected benefits of a plasma (true black level, colors, etc) are all still there, and the picture quality is actually an improvement over my former 2009 model.
3) Once calibrated, the picture quality is one of the best I've seen on a flat screen TV ever...which is surprising given that this is a "budget" set.
4) The reflection on the glass is almost unbearable, even in a very dark room!!!
But for the reflection issue, this TV would have gotten 5 stars. Sound is a non-issue for me. If you're buying a TV for the speaker quality, you may not want to bother buying a TV. Anyone serious about sound should have a home theater sound system, or at least a decent sound bar.
If you have a wall mount, and can tilt this set down 10 degrees, the reflection is not as much of an issue. Otherwise, think hard about this one drawback before buying.

Bought this tv about 4 months ago. It hangs above the fireplace and looks great. Awesome picture.....you should change it to Vivid for the best pictures. I have it hooked up to Internet and use Netflix for the kids daily. Also use the Hulu plus pretty often. Overall great tv and I would recommend to anyone!

For the price you will not find a better TV! Picture quality is a small step above last years 50 series which was already impressive. If you want a bare bones Plasma that has great pic quality without the bells and whistles then this is the TV for you..
