Gus Van Sant At His Very Best

Gus Van Sant directs this beautifully rendered drama of a kid who deals with a tough time in his life and when he tries to take at least one moment to escape reality it all goes bad. The movie is well-scripted with a story that rushes the veins as well as touch your heart. It was shot in an experimental but estatically pleasing way and location Portland, Oregon makes the movie even more enticing. The soundtrack bonds and intertwines with the story line subliminally and sonically making a great spectacle. The downside of this movie is it is not for everyone. Alot of movie goers will probably not enjoy this movie So if you like movies like: I Am Legend, Transformers, and/or Wanted; this movie is NOT for you.

    A new plot

I do not think that I have seen a plot like this before, the movie definitely has something unique about it. It really does a great job of showing his struggle with the trouble he had gotten himself into. Although if I recall he never did get into any trouble which seems to me would not really happen, otherwise that is the ONLY flaw in this movie. This movie is just incredibly amazing with a good plot, and good character structure.

    Emotional Piece by Van Sant.

What an interestingly crafted piece-of-art this film is; a love-child of Van Sant. Those who are weary of long-takes that linger on characters should search for another movie to watch. This film is not what I expected; it fell short; but I would recommend it for its simple plot, yet the complexity of its main character. How beautiful is it when a filmmaker can capture the essence of being a teenager and have their inexperienced actor add so many layers to the character.
