"Paranormal Activity" is one of the scariest movies of all time. It freaked me out and left an imprint on me that will stay forever. But I gotta tell you... Blu-ray isn't worth buying for this one. Stick with DVD. First off... NO special features on the Blu-ray. Not even a commentary! The only thing that makes the Blu-ray sorta attractive is the digital copy. Other than that... NOTHING. And for me... having better picture and sound isn't necessary for this film. It's actually creepier without full HD picture and sound. So overall... stick with the DVD and you'll love it. Buy the Blu-ray and you'll regret it (just like I am, but I also bought the DVD so... I'm good) Enjoy! Note: I would recommend the DVD not the Blu-ray to a friend.

This film is an absolute work of genius in my opinion. From the way it builds up the 'scares' to the phenomenal climax could not have been bettered. I just love the way the two characters work off each other. They are just everyday decent people that something horrible is happening to and they cannot get away from. They continue to live through this situation and you are on that journey with them. I do not get scared by horrors I think that i have seen too many to allow that now !! But if you really let yourself be taken in by this film and immerse yourself as the director intended you are in for a real treat, you really do feel for these people and it is that pity that makes this film a true horror. Granted there are a few moments that will have you jumping but that is due to the brilliant sound track. Don't believe the review stating that this is all hype. This film is made in the same style as the Blair Witch (hand-held camera)..but where in the Blair Witch you didn't really see much of the spooky happenings...with this film you really, honestly do. The entire film takes place in the San Diego home of Katie, who claims to be plagued by demons, and Micah, her obnoxious boyfriend, who totes around a video camera to record evidence that those spirits are real. The two joke and bicker, but at night we see them asleep, the camera at a fixed angle in their dankly lit bedroom. The shot keeps skipping ahead, hour by hour, until spooky stuff starts to happen. With it's this-is-really-happening vibe, Paranormal Activity scrapes away 30 years of encrusted nightmare clichés. The fear is real, all right, because the fear is really in you.

wow, did this idiot Mark Deming, of All Movie Guide even see this movie? worst synopsis ive ever read, the whole thing was wrong. hahaha moron all in all a good original movie. its everything the blair witch should have been wanted to be. with all the build up and popularity of all the ghost hunting shows, this was a great call and was done right.

If you want to be scared, then this is the movie for you! I saw in theaters and was lucky anough to hear girls crying because they were so scared! I can't get over the tension that I felt in the theater while watching this movie, and I applaud the filmakers for such a great movie that was made withought Hollywood's help!!

When i saw this in theatres it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! But after that it wasnt to scary or anything. The alternate ending is really stupid and a waste of time. Still a good movie to watch if you have friends over and want to watch something creepy

This film is def one to watch with the lights down. I find it hard to beleive that some reviewers on here say that its not scary at all- these people must have no imagination! Its refreshing to see a good horror film that doesnt rely on blood and gore to deliver the chills.The film is all based in the couples house with one camera catching all of the erie footage, which in the begining seems to be the odd bump in the night and slowly builds to become some what of a nightmare. Alot is left to the imagination, which adds to the scares, as when the film comes to an end, your mind will be working over time, especially when its time for bed, or when your home alone and get that funny feeling that some thing is watching you!! scary stuff

Paranormal Activity was one of the better horror flicks I've seen recently. They don't rely on cheap effects to get their chills in so props for the directing and storytellling ability, albeit not the best movie I've seen.

This film has some very interesting elements. The actors aren't bad by any means and, although touched on before, the overall idea adds to the potential scare. The fact that the entity is attached to the woman rather than the house makes it more unnerving. The scares ramp up nicely but the footprints totally blew it for me. Had they been human.....yikes.....as it was....oh purlease! Although this kind of stuff obviously does not happen in real life, i found it easy to suspend by disbelief until this point. Worth a look but a bit of a missed opportunity in my opinion. Ending? Nicely done, yes a bit hollywood, but suitable for the film.

FOR BEST RESULTS: -Watch with someone. -The lights should be out. -Surround sound should be on. -Dont distract yourself. This is a movie that needs to be watched while you are fully immersed in the idea of a haunted home. Take my advice and you will hate the night and never be the same again. It was more of a thrill ride than a movie for me. This is the same experience I would expect from a well made haunted house at a theme park. People who live alone and are already scared of the dark may want to reconsider watching.

This movie is actually scary. Man, woman, boy, or girl, you will jump at at least one part of this movie. It definitely was better in theaters, but now its gone, so Blu Ray is the closest you'll get. Suggest you watch on a rather large TV with the sound UP and the room BLACK, especially if u really want the "movie theater" experience. also more fun to watch with other people. Blu-ray quality is amazing as usual. If you've never seen this movie before, have fun :)

This movie is about a couple Katie(Katie Featherson) and Micah(Micah Sloat) who document paranormal activity in there San Diego home.This movie follows the guidelines of less is more,where you don't see the ghost or demon,but you see strange shadows on the door,powdered footprints,things moving around,hear footsteps coming up the stairs,loud noises,see lights turn on and off in the background,there's even some scenes where Katie is standing over the bed for several hours watching her boyfriend sleep.It's not a movie to really scare you but kind of freak out some people.I don't think I'll see this movie again,so I would recommend renting first,it didn't seem to scare at all.

OK, THIS WAS THE ONE AND ONLY MOVIE TO EVER MAKE ME JUMP AND IVE BEEN WATCHING THEM FOR YEARS. IF YOU BELIEVE THAT GHOSTS REALY ARE OUT THERE YOU WILL LIKE THIS. THE ENDING WILL STAY WITH YOU. THE BUILD UP IS GENIOUS . DONT WATCH IT ALONE UNLESS YOU THINK YOU CAN TAKE IT. IT GOT ME. WASNT EXPECTING THIS AT ALL.

Paranormal Activity is by far one of the best Paranormal movies ever. It brings Paranormal and Horror in one Huge Punch of None Stop Action. The Storyline is amazing and deserves some of the greatest attention from critics... If you want to get scared off your feet, this is the movies to watch. If you think you don't get scared or even jump at unexpected things, this is the movie...

After reading all the reviews I had to go get this movie when it came out. I watched it on Blu ray on my 42 inch plasma with surround sound and I still thought it did not live up to all the hype. I love scary movies and have a great imagination but I thought the movie as a whole did not live up to all the reviews. It took way to long to get into the movie and the few parts that were suppose to be scary left me looking for more. I know it was a low budget movie but i feel that this is a movie you should rent because you will never watch it a second time. I feel that not only did I waste $23.00 but I lost 2 hours out of my life that I can never get back. I am not sure how it got such great reviews. My wife, daughter and myself were all very unhappy with this film.

Very good, scary movie. Leaves you with an eery feeling afterward. Would not recommend to the faint of heart.

This has to be my favourite film of the year along with Drag me to Hell.It goes to show you dont need a massive budget and expensive special effects to make a great film.Not sure what those who slated it were expecting,but the film had plenty of shocks and the ending has to be one of the best i have seen in any film.It certainly lived up to the hype!!

It contains two versions of the movie, the version shown in theaters and the original from a few years ago when this film was first filmed. I was disappointed that there were no special features on this Blu-Ray at all. I figured there would be plenty of room considering it is on a Blu-Ray disc. That was the only disappointment with it. Great movie!

I LOVEd this movie. Its suspensfull, scary and very original. It seems like the other reviewers didnt think it was scary enough, I think these days the only thing that can scare people is with digital effects. There is none in this movie. You have to put yourself in these peoples place. I say just watch it and give it a try.

This was a great movie. The anticipation and buildup are what makes this movie work. This is not an action movie so don't give it a bad review because of that. It lets you use your imagination like a classic Hitchcock movie. There is a reason why this movie was so successful and that is because it really is scary.
