Pros: *Currently this is the only 4K prosumer drone that is designed so that the propellers never enter the camera’s field of view. *It’s the only prosumer drone that can look straight up. You can make a true 360* sphere panorama. *The advertised flight times are accurate. 20+ minutes per battery. *The videos are excellent. Especially when played my Samsung 55 inch 4K smart TV. *Very compact and lightweight (320 grams). *I’m an FAA part 107 certified pilot. DJI babysits your flights and sometimes denies your flights even when you have authorization from the FAA. Parrot treats you like an adult and leaves you responsible for your own actions. I document my flights and my authorizations both digitally and by hand. Cons: *No obstacle avoidance. You need to be aware of your Anafi’s position relative to obstacles. “Follow me” needs obstruction free space. *Fat32 format tool. FreeFlight 6.4.2 will not reformat exFat to fat32. Class 10 cards under 32GB will format in fat32 recognized by Anafi and all versions of Freeflight6. With iPhone version FreeFlight6.4.2 cards over 32GB will not be recognized or formatted within the Anafi. I use a multi step process to format 128GB card that gives me 2 hr 40 min without changing memory. I hope this changes with the next update. Memory card holder is weak. Don’t change the card someplace that if the securing mechanism could become dislodged it doesn’t get lost in grass, carpet, or upholstery. Despite these cons, the pros outweigh them.

The Anafi is a good alternative to either a DJI Spark or Mavic Air. It is surprisingly stable in the wind which is amazing considering its size/weight. Flight time is approx 25 minutes and it is probably the quietest drone on the market. The camera has the ability to point straight up which adds to the available options for pictures/ video. It's "automatic" flight modes work very well. The only thing that might influence a potential purchase is that the Anafi does NOT have any sensors/obstacle avoidance which is all the rage now. If having that on a drone is a necessity for you, then this is not a good choice

I picked up the Anafi due to the portability, low noise, and the rather nice camera. There is also one of the photogrammetry companies that says they will support it in the future. The folded up drone is about as wide and a bit longer than a 20 oz bottle. The camera is actually a bit under utilized. If I control the iso and exposure myself, I can take significantly better photos or video than if left to the auto setting. I wonder if it would be possible to find a controller with jog wheels like a camera? The zoom is nice, though there is a much stronger zoom at 1080 than at 4k. Last, the range is ok, but not wonderful. A larger antenna on the controller would help.

I chose this drone because of its moderate cost, light weight, good camera review, and reported better communication than some others. It hasn't disappointed. The video, displayed on a retina monitor, is breathtaking. It almost produces vertigo. The drone gives about 25 minutes of flight time and about the same amount of 4K video on included 16GB card. It folds up and packs into into quite a small, nicely-made case. I do wish there was a case included for the skycontroller, which has some protruding levers which could be broken if thrown into a bag loose. The carton it came in is secure but not particularly space efficient, so I made a case for the controller from a cardboard box. If you want long flights you ought to get extra batteries. Overall, I'm very pleased with the performance of this little eye in the sky.

I originally entered the Parrot ecosystem with their Bebop drone. I was impressed with its flight and durability, but found it’s camera leaving more to be desired, aside from its bulky form factor. I decided to trade it in for the Anafi. the Anafi is a great intermediate drone with many high end features. Excellent flight and flight stability with a solid 20 minutes of flight easily attainable at full charge. Battery takes a very long time to charge though, and a 15+ W wall adapter for its USB charger (not included) is desirable to keep its charge time under 2 hours. 4K camera, with its one-of-a kind ability to aim 180 degrees upwards, allowing for some incredible shots that are impossible to achieve with ‘higher-end’ drones. Excellent image stability + great piloting features in the mobile app. The form factor is very manageable with all of its arms folding inwards for storage. The Included case is solid, quality and a great overall addition to the package for easy storage. Very much looking forward to impressive footage during my travels in the summer. 4.5/5 drone. -Extra batteries for this drone cost $100, and this package only contains one, while the other package contains more. -The HDR mode greatly brightens details in scenery, but can add static-like pixelation to the image. -Excellent raw image quality in normal 4K, with many different file choices for post-production. -Utilizes a removable 16gb microSD card.

I have been in the drone scene before DJI releases its phantom line of quadcopter. I have constructed DIY drones, tested and used different brands from DJI, Yuneec, Ehang, Parrot, and 3DR. Parrot Anafi to my opinion is a great drone. Image quality is on par if not better to other drone in its price range. Event though it lacks obstacle avoidance sensors, I do not think these sensors are a dealbreaker. You can live without these sensors if you learn how to fly a drone decently in an open field and follow all the safety guidelines. What I like the most is the 20 mpix sensor for pictures. The quality of the picture is not by any means stellar, a bit noisy but there is no other drone from the major brand that offers that much of mpix. Also, the digital zooming is useful and nice though you would lose some sharpness. Camera movement to 90 degrees upward is also a unique feature. I also like the follow me feature that works well, though don't expect it to fly and avoid obstacles along its trajectory when following an object. This drone is a bit discreet, definitely quieter for a drone in its size and price range. To my surprise, this drone is good enough to fly in somewhat windy conditions. Position hold may not be as still as DJI's phantom 4 series or inspire drone due to its much smaller size and less powerful motor (duh!), however, this drone flies and perform good enough. Other thing that I notice, video transmission from the drone is not as solid as DJI's ocusync technology. However, video transmission is still good enough and I have seen from youtube people flying for 2 miles without losing video transmission. Please note that FAA regulations require you to fly within visual line of sight. For the money, I think this is a good product. May not be full 5 star but I'd say more than 4 stars considering that there are no other drones out there that offer same unique features at its price range. If you are on the fence of buying either Mavic Air, Mavic Pro (1) or this one, consider the following: Parrot Anafi is cheaper, flies well and offers you some unique features that no other drone offer within its price range. The zoom camera feature is being offered by the new DJI Mavic Pro 2 Zoom, but that drone almost cost you twice more expensive.

I was surprised how light weight it is, The flight time is on par with the company description. The camera is very good and clear. The zoom feature is very good. I can record from very far away. The drone is very stable. It is light so I can't tell how it will hold up if crash. I am very happy and impressed with it.

I think it's a really good drone. It has it's pros and cons. The camera is awesome. It's not difficult to fly. It's light weight. Which means it's easy for the wind to effect it when it's in the air. The worse con is that it doesn't have the ability to avoid an object.

I gave this a 4-star rating with one or two exceptions. The battery, propellers and photos. It's great for video. The photography while good is slow and takes time to get use to. Controls are excellent. Much better than DJI. I love this because you can put it in a case and take it w/you hiking and just use the phone but then you lose range because the controller doesn't fit in the case. It's fat and doesn't have the range it should but is convenient. The blades are going to be really hard to replace. It's a French company so maybe they aren't use to designing easy to use, field ready equipment. They are much too small to change anywhere but on a work bench. This is great for hobbyists. I like it because it isn't DJI and the creativity is nice. The video is great and the photos look very nice, they just take time to capture because it's slow. The HDR feature for those is thoughtful but useless. Just a few small improvements especially to the camera making it quicker and it would be the best small copter out there.

Have had lots of quads over the years and was looking for something compact that could stick in a backpack. Liked the reviews and specifications so picked this one up. It flies easily from the box and was easy to capture video of our land and other states as we traveled. Easy to use the app and remote together to program flight paths or to have it just follow us around. Videos look great and we use this alot for fund and exploring.

    High Flying (Anafi) Parrot

The ANAFI Parrot is my first experience when it comes to drone ownership. Hands down the greatest fear of ownership is the fear of crashing or losing it. Being brutally honest, I was absolutely scared senseless because of this. I had fears of crashing the Anafi within seconds of lift-off and being left with an expensive and cool looking "paperweight". I actually had the drone for five days before I mustered up enough nerve to venture outside with it for a test flight. Today being the fifth day, I finally ventured out and took it for a ride. I would suggest that all first time drone users take their drones to a large empty field in order to have lots of space. Let me put you at ease, as flying the Anafi drone was super easy. I was never ever close to losing control of it, and or crashing it. The controller has a take-off and landing button which when pressed automatically launches your drone to a height of 3 feet or will safely land it. Easy and mistake proof. The drone will hover their until you give it directions to fly, i.e. up, down, left right, etc. I guarantee if you take it slowly, you will have a great time flying it. I would read the online manual thoroughly and become familiar with the joy stick/toggle switches and their functions. I took pictures of the controls from the online manual, so that I would have them for a quick reference. Literally, I was flying the drone within 5 to 10 seconds with no problems, so I am pretty confident that if I could do it, you could also. The drone seems very well made and its shape reminded me of an insect. It is marketed with its own semi-hard carrying case. The quick start guide has picture illustrations which indicate the needed steps will get your drone operational. Even with this guide, I did not feel at ease in the use and operation of the drone until I read the manual. A quick note regarding the WIFI password. It's located on the inside cover of the semi-hard drone carrying case. Pros: Easy to fly and pretty much so stays were it hovers (drift is not a problem) Drone seems to be built with quality in mind USB C port Expandable memory 4K camera takes awesome video and pictures with the 21mp camera Pretty decent battery life (25 minutes) The range of the drone is 2.5 miles, but I have no inkling of how to measure that claim. Top speed of the drone is around 31 miles per hour. Cons: The biggest drawback is the lack of obstacle avoidance. Drone is not supplied with a power adapter (it comes with a cable only). You will have to supply your own power source. Memory card is located under the battery and is cumbersome to access and is super flimsy. My gut feeling is that the device that holds the memory card (after repeated removals and insertions) will fail. In-App purchases are required for the Follow Me and Flight Plan modes of operation. NOTE - I fail to see the rationale of the maker of the Anafi drone charging $.99 cents each for these two purchases, as the Anafi is around $700.00 dollars plus tax. These should have been included in the overall pricing of the Anafi drone. I hope that the makers of the Anafi will in the future, push down these two programs free of charge. The Anafi comes with a remote control unit. Its spring load clipping mechanism is meant to "cradle" and hold your phone. I found that I had to remove the Otterbox case from my IPhone 7 Plus, as the mechanism was not wide enough to hold my phone. I would suspect that many users will also have to remove their phone cases so that they can mount their phones onto the controller. The supplied controller does not have a built in screen which means that you have to fly your drone by "visual sight". The controller toggle switches are not indicated with a picture or symbol (of what each toggle does) so if you are a first time user, you have absolutely no idea of what the toggle switches control. I feel that symbols should have been imbedded into the plastic for reference. The Anafi drone took some video clips of the flights. I was very impressed with stabilization of the videos ad the overall quality was stunning. The Anafi has the capability of aiming the camera upwards towards the sky, which is a nice option. I found download of videos to be slow. Overall, the Anafi was quite pleasing and easy to fly. Camera is real decent and won't disappoint. Definitely worth your attention.

I love this drone. I have had 4 so far. Two were involved in trees biting them. One other was a battery failure. Having said that I now know mot to get the battery level below 30% then land asap. And I fly ot with more caution making each movement deliberate. I consider all of that a learning curve. Get past all that and you get a great easy flying drone. I suggest assuming 15 min flight time per charged battery and the 30% rule I'm applying. I shoot professionally with this drone. Beautiful images and video. The gimbal rotates 180 degrees down to vertical. Great feature. It is a lightweight drone. Not a toy.

When I bought it I didn't know what to expect, I had done back and forth comparisons with the DJI Mavic. In the end I went with this one, it's definitely quieter than the DJI as I have friends that own them. I love that I can turn the camera up and the zoom feature, flight time is slightly better as well. Does well in the wind better than expected. Very easy to fly.

Trying to Compete with DJI Mavic, & They're Close

The Anafi is a small, lightweight, foldable and highly portable drone with great camera capabilities, and is Parrot’s answer to DJI’s Mavic. My review comes from the viewpoint of an FAA Part 107 pilot and DJI owner, so I know a little about drones and their abilities. First off, the best feature is the camera. Excellent 4K quality with built-in HDR capabilities to enhance photos & videos in changing brightness environments. Still photos are shot at a very impressive 21MP, which substantially beats DJI’s best offerings. Also unique to drones in this price point is the ability to control the camera to not only look straight forward & downward, but can also be angled up 90 degrees. This allows a look at sights from their undersides (like bridges) or provide a great transitional effect to or from the sky as you shoot video. On by default, the HDR setting eats memory on the micro SD and a single 25-minute flight will nearly fill the included 16GB SD card. The drone starts off in “Filmmaker” mode, which is a nice, slow, easy-to-control mode that keeps you from making overly-jerky moves that screw up your videos. The movement of the drone & camera in this mode makes for extremely easy shoots, even for a beginner. My son was able to pick it up for the first time, without prior drone experience, and made some really great videos. You can change into other modes like “Sport”, which flies more like a normal mode on other drones (it’s not going to go 40mph in sport mode). It’s not a racing drone, but that’s not why you’re buying this anyway. If you want to configure it to fly faster in each mode you can do so in the app. But I suggest leaving the modes as-is to get the best video. Digital zoom is available with the device, but better yet the camera also has lossless 1.5x zoom when shooting in HD. Other modes for shooting video include options for following a subject, orbiting a subject or point of interest, etc. One of the most ridiculous things about other modes, however, is they require in-app purchases, so you’ll end up spending another few dollars to fully unlock the app. This has to be the dumbest decision; if you’re spending $700 on a drone there is no reason to nickel & dime the user for another few bucks for a full-option app. Range is spectacular for both distances flown and HD video feedback to your phone. It is also a very quiet drone as compared to larger drones like a DJI Phantom. Battery life is around 25 minutes (comparable to other manufacturers). The drone folds up small enough to easily be placed in a backpack or even your cargo shorts pocket. However, the controller has no case and no way to secure it, which makes no sense. I understand the idea of making it small & packable, but they completely ignored the ability to pack the controller along with the drone, which is kind of a basic thing to carry with you. I suggest looking for a case to put both in to fully protect & more easily transport both together. The controller is shaped a little like a Playstation controller with a flip-up combination phone holder/antenna. It has far less controller options than DJI, but for beginners this makes it perfect. Now for the cons: - Construction: The plastic used for the body & camera just looks cheap. I’m hoping to never crash it, and it may hold up fine, but just from a strictly aesthetic standpoint it looks inexpensive. - NO COLLISION AVOIDANCE. This would be my #1 complaint about the drone overall. There are ZERO sensors to stop the drone from crashing into something at-speed. DJI quads all include forward sensors, and some include full 360 sensors. This looks to be the riskiest thing about this drone, and certainly threatens its existence. Use a spotter or stay well away from obstructions. - Landing Gear: The landing gear are short, landing it almost directly on its belly. There is a fan on the underside to cool the battery & motor, and if you launch or land in dirt or grass the fan can end up sucking debris into it. I suggest using only concrete for an LZ or buying a portable landing pad to deploy from. - Extra Batteries: I had difficulty locating extra batteries for the device. It was only after 2 weeks of owning it that Best Buy finally started stocking the batteries. Amazon also has limited options for batteries. Worst case you can order directly from Parrot. - In-app purchases: As mentioned, I shouldn’t have to spend more to unlock features after spending hundreds of dollars on the drone. - Single Click Power On: With DJI as a safety feature you have to press, release, then press & hold the on/off button (2-step process) to turn the drone on or off. On the Anafi if you just tap the button it turns on. This could lead to accidentally turning the device on when installing a battery or placing back in the case. I would like to see it require a little longer of a press to turn the device on or off. - Phone Fit in Controller: The controller’s flip-up phone holder/antenna will only accept “standard” sized phones. Phones with “plus” in it (Galaxy S#+, iPhone Plus, Galaxy Note, etc.) will not fit in the holder. Likewise, thicker cases like Otterbox will keep your phone from fitting. It will not fit tablets at all, although there are adapters available on the market. - No Case for Controller: Would like a way to better protect the controller. Also a way to carry spare batteries. Look for a 3rd party case after getting this. - App Doesn’t Show No-Fly Zones: BE CAREFUL. I live just outside DC and there are tons of restricted areas around here – DC security zones, airports, certain buildings, etc. DJI warns or outright locks out flight around airports or in no-fly zones as a safety feature. The lack of restrictions could lead you into dangerous situations or land you in trouble with authorities if you’re in a no-fly zone. Make sure you consult the FAA B4UFly (or similar) app to verify you’re good-to-fly where you’re at. Failing to do so can result in hefty fines, jail, or worse yet a collision with another aircraft. - SD Card Slot: The card tray is very fragile. Be extremely careful inserting or removing the SD card. - No charger included: It comes with a USB-C cable, but no indication on the number of amps needed to properly charge the battery. I’m using a 2.1-amp phone charger with it and it takes about 90 minutes to charge the battery. Not sure if that’s the recommended amp range or not. Conclusion: This is a good drone with an amazing camera. While I would say the price point makes this a great beginner drone, the lack of collision avoidance sensors makes it hard for me to argue that this would work well for beginners, since most issues with drones involve crashing into things. I’m rating it 4 stars only because there aren’t half stars. I feel this deserves a 3.5 rating heavily based on the lack of collision avoidance features, lack of case for the controller, and required in-app purchases. I think Parrot is on the right track, and look forward to their future releases, hoping the include some of the public’s feedback about the device.

This little drone is a lot of fun. While not quite as solid in the air as the Mavic series it is still a little trooper. Drifts a bit when hovering, but that just makes you pay a bit more attention. A bit of trouble setting up the first time (firmware update kept freezing), but Parrot swapped my first one out for a new one and I've had no problems with it. Good video quality, if a tiny bit of noise in the picture. ND filters are now starting to come out so that may help with a bit of the noise in the brighter areas. My favorite things about this though are the ability to zoom, look up, and how QUIET it is. I knew it was supposed to be quieter than others, but I was quite surprised at just how quiet it is. With upcoming firmware updates I'm sure they will get the drift issues dialed in. For the price you can't beat it.

good: - Small and Lightweight - Includes Controller - Includes 16GB microSD card and adapter - Traveling Case - USB-C Charging - Stunning 4K Video Quality - 21 MP Camera - Long battery life (2700mah) - Vertical 180 camera - Extra Propellers - Long Flight Time - Not that noisy. bad: - In-App Purchases - Can drift a bit but stable video - No Obstacle Avoidance Tech overall: The Anafi has a lot of features that make it a great photography drone for both beginners and experts alike. In the box you get the drone itself, which comes folded inside of the included travel case, a 16GB Sandisk microSD card with adapter, the controller, extra propellers, and a USB-A to USB-C cable. The drone looks like a bug, nothing flashy - a black plastic body with 4 legs and 8 small propellers.  One of the most interesting features is the fact that the camera can swivel 180 degrees from straight down to straight up which means it’s one of if not the only drone that can actually film at an upwards angle, giving you some interesting possibilities in filming angles. You get a 21MP Sony Sensor so the quality of the footage is similar to what you’d get with a flagship cellular phone, but at a higher megapixel count than most. Footage quality is excellent with 100Mbps 4K and as an extra bonus you get the option for HDR, a feature not found in drones a this price range  However, in 4K UHD the best you will get is 30 fps so for filming fast action or sports you might want to consider setting it to 1080p for 60fps. There’s also nearly a 3X optical zoom but again at 4K UHD you are limited to just 1.4x optical zoom. Despite being small and lightweight, Parrot claims that it can withstand up to 31Mph winds. It wasn’t quite that windy when I was out but wind was making the drone drift quite a bit during a filming session but I was surprised watching the video feed to see that the video was perfectly stable despite the drone bouncing around. However, with the lack of obstacle detection, and some drift you have to be careful about getting close to other objects as you could end up crashing it. There’s also a weird business decision to make you pay $1 for two additional flight modes via the app on your phone. One is “follow me”, where the drone will focus on you and follow you as you jog or ride a bike for example. Without obstacle detection, this could be very risky. The other is called “flight plan” where you can set a path for the drone based on GPS. Making users pay $2 for these two features on top of the cost of the drone is a bit baffling.  Overall, this is a good buy for anyone who is looking for a small and lightweight drone that’s easy to travel with. However, the lack of obstacle detection means you will need a bit of practice flying it before you get too close to things.

I got this drone because someone I know has it and the capture of its video is great. Opened the box used drone for 10 min and drone dropped dead on the floor. It Broke, of course. The battery was okay the signal was okay. I’ve no idea what happened. It could have been a leaf or a small brunch under the tree (the only thing I could think of happening) or that the drone was malfunctioning. Ether way if I had flew it over the water or somewhere else could of even lost the drone. Scary

Great drone for beginner or mid level drone flyers. Lite weight enough that you don’t need a license to fly, but robust enough for good quality pictures and videos. Handles well when used correctly with remote controller. I would recommend purchasing an extra battery or two. Also, the wings are a bit flimsy, so handle with caution. Make sure to spend the extra and buy a protection plan.

A lot of parrot anafis are rumored to have faulty GPS but i still tried it but i got a faulty one so i had to return it. Anafis are great with their photos and videos. The drone itself is also pretty compact and easy to hold. The only things i didn't like is the very open body and rotors which is more prone to dust and water, the very bulk remote which is very thick and the way you connect it to your phone is not pretty at all. But considering the price and if you get a good working on, i think it's good enough.
