The Pebble Steel is a great smart watch for iOS users waiting for the infamous iWatch. For just telling time it allows for a slew of user created watch faces to fit anyone's personal style. It has a a great assortment of utility apps to work nicely on their own or with a iPhone or android companion app. It also can run games, remotes, health and fitness apps, and a plethora of other helpful apps. It looks very nice, has a great feel, and is the perfect size. It is worth an extra $80 compaired to it's older original Pebble? Don't think so. Especially since the Best Buy model only has the leather band. It is basically the same guts too. They only added a couple of less noticeable features. There is no internal mic for connecting to Siri or speaker for any notifications and or else wise. All around a great smart watch. I would recommend this to any iOS and user out there.

Best Overall Smartwatch until the Apple Watch

I got a really good deal on this watch so I figured I would try this out as a "gateway" smartwatch to see if I would like it since I am a tech-geek but not a watch guy.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that I used it a lot more than I thought I would. I enjoyed just being able to look at the watch instead of having to pull out my phone with every call or notification.
The Pros and Cons:
Pros:
Battery Life! Almost a week on a single charge
Style: Best looking smartwatch that actually looked like a normal watch
Easy to read Screen. It lacks color but with the battery life it saved it was easy to accept. The screen was easy to read inside and outside. The backlight could have been better though.
Shake to light up screen. Loved this feature. Didn't have to use two hands to see the time at night. Just a simple shake of the wrist.
Cons:
Bluetooth Problems. I did have occasional problems with my iPhone not linking to the watch but usually a reset of the phone or watch would fix.
Metal Band Not Included. I had to buy seperately but it was only $20 so can't complain to much
Limited Functionality. For the price it did more than enough but the Apple Watch does so much more. That is the reason I upgraded to the Apple Watch instead of the Steel Pebble Time. I'd rather pay the difference to have a much better overall watch.
Lack of apps. You could only put a few apps or watchfaces on the watch. I like that you could save your favorites in the phone app but wish there were more slots for apps.

I was looking for a smart watch that I could use with my iPhone 5s that would be under $200. I couldn't bring myself to purchase the new iPhone watch for over $300. The pebble does exactly what I needed it to do. The watch notifies me of text messages and other notifications on the screen from my iPhone 5s and the text is readable, it has the weather. It has an alarm that vibrates. It is waterproof. It has an app to track my steps. There are other apps for the phone, but I don't use them. Its stylish. Battery life last about 4-5 days. They are about to come out with a new version so I might wait until that one comes out before purchasing this one.

I wanted a watch to notify me when I get email. I work in a helpdesk environment and this saves me from pulling my phone out all the time. Initially I loaded it up with a bunch of apps and I wasn't happy with the watch crashing a lot. I took all the extra apps off and found the watch was a lot more stable. I then added apps back on and found the one that was giving me issues. I've seen a couple updates for the watch and since haven't had issues with my iPhone. Battery life is about 3 days, but it gets used a lot because of all the notifications I get from texts and emails. Right device for me.

I bought this watch for my husband as a gift. It is a great first smart watch and he loves the compatibility with Apple that other brands don't offer. It's nice to be able to view his text messages without pulling out his phone. Pebble offers a surprisingly wide variety of watch faces & the app is easy to use. The watch looks classy & durable. His only complaints are that the Bluetooth connection drains his phone battery pretty quickly, and that the watch does not show incoming calls. It also does not have the ability to make or receive calls.

I have an iPhone 6+ and keep it inside a zipped inside jacket pocket while I am at work. I also have colleagues that like to post dumb things in group messages all night long. I wanted a watch that could allow to me essentially screen my texts and calls for important ones that are worth pulling my phone out for. This, the Pebble Steel does a great job of.
I wish it could do grey scale picture messages or at least have something that says "picture" when I receive one, though. If you get a message that is just a picture it tells you that you have a message from a contact but the message just shows blank, which is rather annoying.
I have not tried the plethora of crazy apps made for this thing because I have been afraid of killing its battery life by using the sensors for things like fitness tracking and such. I turn it off when I put it down for the night and the battery lasts a lot longer than the week advertised. If you leave it on 24/7 it will only last 5-7 days, though. I decided not to leave it on because when it is on my nightstand the loud vibrating noise is annoying if I get a message.
Since smartwatches are not common place you will get questions like "you can answer calls on that thing?" Yes "So, you talk into it like some Inspector Gadget Watch?" No, I can just accept/deny them on it, then I have to pick up my phone.
Warning as far as watch bands go, I went to watch shops looking for a nice comfortable silicone band for it, all the employees I talked to have said regular bands that they carry won't fit the Pebble. So you may be stuck with either the leather it comes with, or the steel band that is available for like $20. This was sort of disappointing.

I've tried several "smart" watches and so far have not found one for me. The Pebble Steel is definitely the closest though you must be aware it is not even close in features to the likes of LG and Motorola smart watches.
It has decent battery life especially compared to the other watches.
If you want/need a simple connected watch to get notifications and see who's calling, the Pebble Steel could be the one for you.

I was looking to get a new watch since my old one broke, I found this little wonder on Deal of the day at BB at the right moment and after a little research decided to give it a try, man was I surprised on how easy and how functional this is, I used to miss calls and forget about messages coming in all the time, but now I have this little reminder on my wrist all the time.
Battery life is excellent, with regular use I can get 4 days before I have to charge it.
I know is not an iWatch or a Gear, but it does all I want and need without having to spend a ton of money on something that is trying to get me away from actually using my phone.

There are so many smart watches on the market now but this one was a great buy! I have an iPhone so I'm waiting for Apple to bring the Apple certified smart watch to the market but after reading reviews on line and now owening this watch..... I love it!! So you can't talk through it or take a picture with it or text someone with it..... But that's why you have a smart phone!! The alarm on this watch is amazing. It notifys me when I have an email or text or even a call when I can't hear my phone or feel it vibrate. Not to mention I can get the watch to have different faces. Like Rolex, Panerai, Bell & Ross!! It's an awesome watch to have!!

I bought the Pebble Steel because I wanted a nice looking and feeling watch that was smart (e.i., could tell me what was happening on my phone). I wasn't looking for a mini-phone/tablet on my wrist. I love that the Pebble is always on and acts like a watch with interchangeable faces. The fact that I can get my notifications on it is nice. I have not found a lot of other apps that I have decided I like enough to use frequently with one exception. I use PlexFit for tracking my activity. I tried the Misfit app and was very excited about it until I realized that they did not allow me to sync my data to my Android phone. The one gripe I have is actually in trying to change the band. It is proprietary so options are rather limited. I bought the steel band from Pebble and could not remove the screw out pins with the provided screw driver. I ended up mangling both the pins and the the holes for the pins a bit before successfully removing them to change the band. Otherwise I like the watch a lot. Especially not having to charge it very often!

I have been using a Pebble for over a year and decided to upgrade to the Steel rcently. It's well worth it, very well made, looks great and the display is sharper without the plastic housing.
I don't know how I lived without this! Being able to keep my phone in my pocket or bag on silent and get all of my messages and see who is calling during meetings makes it well worth it alone. But also having all of the apps and being able to check the weather or control my music and lights is icing on the cake! Easy to setup and use, most of my friends now have them after seeing mine.

I currently own a few smart watches. And I seem to come back to the pebble every time. Just the fact that it works with both Android and iOS is the BIGGEST PLUS! The Pebble Steel is Extremely well built. Not "cheapy" looking or feeling. I also purchased the Black metal band. Now the watch looks and feels more elegant and well built. Waterproof, and Sturdy. All around Great Smart Watch that constantly gets updated with Great watch faces.

The Pebble Steel is not the most feature rich of the smart watch bunch, but that doesn't make it a bad smart watch. What it does do, it gets it right.
The appearance of the Pebble Steel is classy. Its a nice looking watch with minimal bulk. I have some pretty tiny wrists, and typically have issues finding watches that don't look like I'm wearing a wall clock on my wrist. The Pebble Steel fits quite nicely and looks good.
The buttons are physical so they work with or without gloves. They are large enough to hit without pressing them all at once.
I like that it is always on. So I can just glance down and see a notification, or see the time without having to press a button, or shake my wrist (unless it is dark). The apps are fairly limited, but growing on a regular basis. I"m interested to see now that the new color model is out, how much they continue to support the "older" models.
Over all it is a great watch for those of you who want some light fitness tracking, along with the notification features. Its pretty handy to be able to check a text/email on your wrist instead of digging your phone out of your pocket every time.

This is my second pebble watch. I purchased this because there is a student discount coupon and came down to 80 bucks. This is elegant looking and I am using this for work and got a lot of compliments with it.
This has great battery life and water proof as well. Can't beat the price and the features. I would definitely upgrade it to the new pebble watch. I would highly recommend this smart watch or daily use.

I love my Pebble Steel. This watch has been great! I love that it is compatible with Android or Apple (unlike the Apple Watch) and it was a fraction of the price of Apple. My notifications are customizable and now that I have found the correct app, the ability to respond to texts with more than just the preset templates has been awesome. I thought I would miss the color screen, touchscreen or the talk to text but I really don't. I wanted a discreet way to be able to get emai,l texts, who's calling, etc. without pulling out my phone like at work, on the metro, etc. If I'm talking back to my watch, that's not very discreet. The apps I like best are the fitness tracker and navigation but there are SO many apps and watch faces to choose from. Battery life is great (I charge about once a week), visibility in all light conditions is fantastic with the e-ink display and the 8 app slots had proven to be plenty for me. The reason for the 4 instead of 5 is because I would like to see a more universal watch band style.
Love it, love it, love it!

The Pebble is a great watch. Having notifications on your wrist really grabs your attention. The problem with my phone (especially in winter) is that I miss a text message or call due to my phone being in a heavy winter jacket.
Apps are really cool. Seeing weather, sunspots and the Curiosity Rover on your watch is pretty amazing. A very nice gift! Also, I would recommend the add-on steal band. It makes the watch more attractive and water resistant than the leather.

Bought this for my teenager son who loves it. Easy notifications without checking phone (think on the field) and other places. He goes nowhere without it, except where not appropriate. Good battery life for a little gizmo. Best Buy REALLY great on their price guarantee when discounted a week later. Of course, it isn't like having a tablet on your wrist, but still useful.

I did my research before purchasing a smart watch and landed on a Pebble Steel. I liked the look, functionality and battery life the most. Being stainless it fit a business look and having 5-6 days battery life is awesome. The fact you can see it anywhere, including direct sunlight is critical.
It doesn't do all the flashy stuff the Android Wear or Apple watch does but can't be beat for the price of $150. Good selection of apps and watch faces.
