If you are a horror fan, and you've never seen Phantasm, a film which has garnered a large cult following (along with its sequels) since its first release in 1979, it is a must-see. It hearkens back to an age when films tried to do something different than the last film out, not following a trend or copying an earlier popular film. Its originality, and its fun, non-CGI effects are the reason to see the film, which some may still find frightening because of its unpredictable nature. The bluray transfer makes the film look better than it ever has. The extras are good and its a perfect Halloweentime gift.

Classic Camp Horror on Clearer Blu-Ray

I will give five stars for the classic original '79 film starring Angus Scrimm, AKA "Tall Man;" rest in peace, mate! While I have the original Anchor Bay out of print 2007 DVD, that print's aud/vid quality pales in comparison to the new 2016 remastered, restored Blu-Ray version from acclaimed fanboy director J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Studios. It is worth getting this 2016 Blu-Ray for the Dolby 5.1 Surround Mix as well as optional Mono sound.
The best parts of the movie are the campiness, suspense of "Tall Man" & his flying spheres of death that seek fresh brains!

Great Steel book case with very cool representation of the 2 poles from the dimension portal on the back! couldn't see it when I purchased it due to the packaging, but after opening it up, I was pleasantry surprised! As for the film, J.J. Abrams' restoration is awesome - definitely doesn't feel as dated as the previous releases. Good thing he didn't get to add anything and screw it up like Star Wars!!!

This is truly a great, (in a campy way), bad horror movie from the 70's. Michael, our hero, slams a door on the hand of a tall dark figure who chases him. He slices off the tall mans fingers. and the hand spurts out yellow blood. He takes one of the severed fingers home, sticks it in a box. The next day, the box starts moving around, it seems the finger is alive. Michael explains this to his older brother, Jody, but his brother doesn't believe him, so Jody opens the box to show him. Inside is the severed finger squirming around in a pool of blood. Jody, closes the box with a casual, Oh. A flying stainless steel sphere with sharp hooks chases them around, as they investigate inside the funeral home and encounter the tall dark man, it goes, like that, until our hero's join forces and figure out how to stop the tall dark man who's ire they have raised who is now stalking them all.

This is sci-fi horror with balls! Don Coscarelli's masterpiece of the 70's spawned 4 sequels, a comic book, and millions of fans.
Phantasm follows teenage Mike Pearson as he copes with the loss of his parents. He lives in the suburbs and is cared for by his promiscuous older brother Jody. Unbeknownst to these boths, a malevolent force is quietly taking over the town.
The film quality has been updated. The sound has been updated. This is Phantasm like you've never seen before!

This film was painstakingly remastered and has probably never looked this good unless you saw it in the theaters when it was first released. This is a must for any horror fanatic that appreciates a surreal tone that's open for interpretation. Phantasm is up there with the classics of the late 70's and early 80's as far as I'm concerned. This was however a low budget film so, don't expect razor sharp detail as the film is only as good as the camera it was shot on. This Bluray has a very nice filmic quality to it with the right amount a detail and film grain. You wont be disappointed if your a fan of the Phantasm films or just a fan of the genre from this era.

Filmmaker Don Coscarelli made his reputation with this low-budget horror film (as well as several sequels). It's not a classic, but it's got some fun stuff, notably the performance of Angus Scrimm as the Tall Man and the lethal flying metal spheres. A fun horror flick.

Truly a classic horror series and to see the 4K upgrade and updated audio is a beautiful thing.
Mike, his brother Jody and their friend Reggie think something odd is going down around the local mortuary. Their investigation puts them at odds with the evil Tall Man and his minions.
The audio/video upgrade make this the primo version of the film that started it all.

Phantasm is a personal favorite of mine and is one that has been long overdue on blu-ray for some time now. The transfer here is truly first-rate and it definitely ranks amongst the best of the best insofar as "old school" horror films are concerned. You really can tell much care was taken in giving Phantasm the high definition treatment it deserves and it shows on this wonderful edition of the film. Highly, highly recommended!

This is a horror movie that is all over the place as far as story or what is going on. I might need to re watch it but there is way better Horror during the 70s and 80s then this.

If you like your horror weird, then I have a movie for you! “Phantasm” introduced the world to Angus Scrimm’s Tall Man and started what was ultimately a five film saga fo the strange. The movie goes to many strange places as you try to determine what’s real and what isn’t. A true horror film for true horror fans! The amateurs need not apply for this one.

If you are a fan of the Phantasm movies then this is a must have item. Personally I've been awaiting Phantasm on Bluray for a long time and am glad I was able to purchase this. I was surprised that Best Buy would carry this movie and hope that they will sell other cult favorites in the future. The restoration of the movie is perfect.

Got hooked on this movie years ago and have followed the journey every since. The remastering is of this film is brilliant and has been way too long coming. Fans will appreciate the better color and detail lost on the celluloid filming years ago. Yes, the source needed some help, but the engineers have done a great job - and the sound is better, too. If you're reading this, you're already a fan, so go get it.

A nice change from the norm..a white steelbook with simple yet appropriate and iconic front cover art.
Phantasm is one of the most underated unsettling horror films ever made.
No other film achieves the nightmare quality of this masterpiece.
Go Well USA gives us this classic loaded with special features, crystal clear picture and a coldly beautiful steel case.

I been waiting a while to see this movie with a new/restored transfer arrive on bluray, as horror is one of my favorite genres. This film arrives from Well Go USA with a 4K restoration (with help from Bad Robot/JJ Abrams) The film on bluray is NOT 4k but comes from a 4K transfer. All that said the film looks better then it ever has, and I think for fans it's def worth re-buying if you have the old DVD.
