This screen offers exceptional image quality, especially when calibrated. Its huge size is impressive and makes the screen more manageable than denser, smaller 4K panels. It really makes the most out of the increased detail of a 4K resolution and you'd be surprised just how quickly you get used to the panel size even on a desktop setup. Good pixel responsiveness overall delivered one of the best gaming experience I had from a VA panel. My only complaint is that the stand is completely non-adjustable.
The factory default setting for the Display Port is v1.1 so you will need to go into the OSD menu and change the setting to v1.2.

Works quite well and so far I am happy with it. I tried using a TV as a 4k monitor but I wasn't really happy with the results and decided to try this monitor. I connect through the display port and I will be using it for writing code, video editing, and some gaming. Wish it had HDMI2.0 HDCP2.2 so my Roku 4 would work in 4k on it .

If you wanting to go 4k on your desktop and you have the room this monitor will server you well. It could use a few things fixed, the stand is just wrong and the HDMI port should be a 2.0. But as a single monitor it works very well. I tried to go with a TV but that seldom works well on a computer. I had a high end Asus 4k but the text was to small. The 40" is the perfect size for a 4k desktop. It is also great for gaming although for serious FPS is might not be the best choice. However if your in the market for a 4k monitor you should consider this one high on your list. It is a true computer monitor so the text is clear, it goes to sleep and it does have serveral connection options. I won't be taking this one back.

No one at Best Buy has any knowledge of how this product is supposed to work. No one at Phillips understands how to manage the settings to achieve true 4K performance. I was finally referred to a third party support person whose English skills were ludicrous. My queries were consistently met with "You need to purchase a support plan before we will answer any questions. Best Buy should be embarrassed. No store should be selling a product that they have no intention of supporting. I returned the item. I submitted a full review which has been systematically ignored. This one will be also.

This monitor demoted my 27 inch IMac retina. 4K on a monitor this large just makes since. Plus it's post-assembly line calibrated. Have to appreciate that!!

I got my monitor a few weeks ago, so I've had enough time to evaluate it.. In one word - it's excellent.
First of all, mine came with a Display Port cable, so I didn't need to purchase it separately. Also, an HDMI cable was included. And a VGA cable as well - I'm using those three, and I'm not using the rest of them.
Secondly, some people commented on long wake times - and I noticed that as well - it takes a couple of seconds. I found a workaround - I run a two-monitor setup, and I set my older second monitor as my primary monitor. So while I'm logging in on my older monitor - the Philips has enough time to awake.
My main usage is Photoshop (70%)/Software development (30%). I used a simple Windows calibration to adjust some settings because out of the box the monitor was set at 100% brightness. I toned everything down a bit, and looking at the pictures on this monitor now is like seeing in real life. I previously had a 25 inch 1080p monitor from HP - which I thought was really good to excellent. But this Philips is in another league - way way way better.
As far as size - initially I was slightly concerned it might be too big, but now I actually think I could use an even bigger monitor, something in the 43-49 inch range. I am sitting less than two feet away from my monitor.
Overall, I highly recommend it.

Took me days of agonizing if I wanted to spend this much on a monitor or not. But with an Amazon price match, and $105 in Best Buy Rewards, I couldn't pass it up. And I'm glad I didn't.
Absolutely love this monitor. But for $1000, it should come with a displayPort cable. Thanks for the VGA cable, but it went right in the trash.
Great picture. Easy set up. Lots of connections.

Perfect Size for 4k Productivity / Gaming

I've used smaller 4k monitors and 40" is the by far the better experience. I have my windows OS setting for icons / text set to 'medium' and it's just right. I sit about 2.5 feet away and dont have to squint like I did with the 27 " and 24" 4k monitors. I'm running a windows 7 x64 setup with two EVGA 770 GTX super clocked editions in SLI. I've experienced no ghosting issues whatsoever. Be sure to set the monitor to displayport 1.2 for 60hz at 4k. Be sure your graphics card can push 4k in the first place. No dead pixels, super vibrant colors and excellent blacks (grays could use some help). I use it for design using Illustrator / Sketch / Photoshop and LOVE the screen-estate that offers. Gaming is a dream and I wish I had a GTX Titan (shoot, maybe 2 of 'em!). It takes about 10 full seconds to wake up if its asleep but it's really not a bother...so worth it to have all that screen estate. I smile every time I sit in front this thing...seriously...it's a thing to behold. Definitely dont regret the purchase...I'd buy another if I could.

IPS?

Does this monitor (Philips BDM4065UC) really have an IPS panel? All the reviews I've read describe it as having a VA panel.
