They are decently bright for accent lighting... reproducing nearly every non-white color you can think of. The base is white plastic with a gloss white painted metal ring and the front lens and is not adjustable., Light coverage area is based on distance from wall and reflectivity. A little bit of space between the lights and the wall reduce any specular color appearance of the more pale colors (like yellows). The only things I didn't really like is: The power transformer is at the plug, completely attached, and is about 2"x3"x1" which takes up a bit of space and doesn't give you the option of hiding the transformer in a different location than at the wall outlet and you cant fish it through anything small. The minimum dim level is something like 10%... which means dimming on or off there is that sudden jump to/from the off level. Overall I am pretty happy with them and are looking forward to trying out the Lux bulbs as well as the LED strips.

I have over 40+ connected devices including bulbs, sensors, switches, cameras etc. I now have 4 Blooms along with a single Hue A19 bulb i use as a desk light. The Bloom does colors incredibly, vivid and fairly bright for an 8W (15W equivalent) lights. They are not meant to be lamps, they're meant to be accent lights so don't expect to be able to sit them on your working table as a source of working light. They're meant to throw color on the wall to make it seem as if the wall is actually that color. Works well with Smartthings integration, although turning them off through automation isn't 100% yet, but through its app it is.

I have two blooms (and another on the way), and love them. Since they are directional, I've found they work best as a color accent against a wall as opposed to generally illuminating a room. I at first found the colors a bit drab, then switched apps for more precision, which allowed me to pick perfect colors with deep saturation. I'm not sure they are worth the current price (around $80), but if you've got a little to burn it's a nice way to change up a room without buying new furniture!

Setup was easy and these lights make any room look great with the ease of control from your smart phone. I recommend these to anyone building a theatre room or a bar or even a studio. There are a ton of color combinations as well.

This was an excellent purchase. The bloom starter pack comes with 2 blooms and a bridge. Setup was very easy and the app immediately sees the "LivingColors" devices. Aside from capturing color from scenes, it has alarm and timer functions. I had to purchase the hue disco just to see how much fancier lighting can get with strobes. It provides the best ambiance for whatever mood you are in. Kids are happy to have different light colors before sleeping which I can set a timer for or can turn off manually remotely. A bit pricey for extensions but I'll just have to wait for a good deal. Overall, I am happy with it.

The bloom lights are excellent when paired with various apps - I prefer OnSwitch. They are very easy to operate and I really enjoy being able to change colors, speed, etc. at the touch of a button.

I bought this as an add-on to my existing hue system because it was less expensive than buying the two Bloom lights by themselves (it was a Deal of the Day sale). These lights are fairly small, but they do a good job of providing mood lighting on a wall or other object. I tried using them in my bedroom with the idea that I could turn them on at night when my wife was asleep so I could avoid tripping on something, but even with the lowest brightness setting, it was brighter than I wanted so I put them in the living room instead. Overall color range is pretty good...better than the BR30 Hue bulbs I have in the living room, so the colors don't quite match exactly for some colors when all lights are set to the same color.

Overall good bulb and works great, no problems so far. This bulb is good for accent lighting shining on a wall or behind something. A bit pricey but inline with the other Hue products.

If you do not already have a hue bridge, the Philips Friends of hue Bloom Luminaire Starter Kit is a great way to add accent lighting to your home. I use it in my media room with my home theater setup. The lights really help set the mood when you are watching television or movies. The hue bridge also integrates well with a number of other home control/automation systems including the Logitech Harmony Home Control. I highly recommend this product.

Very easy to use and responsive, cool lighting colors

Got a great deal from the deal of the day so decided to try it out. It's great ambient lighting for highlighting parts of the room. It also turns out to be a terrific nightlight for the kids and keeps me from stepping on all the toys surround the bed in the dark. My only complaint is that they are super expensive and not very bright. Hence, 4 stars.

I got this on sale for $99 and it is an excellent price for the starter kit. It is important to note that you need the Phillips Hue Bridge in order to use any of the lights. The bloom lights provide great ambient lighting!

These lights arent the main ones promoted as phillips hue but they work amazing. The app for android/ios is a bit bare but the lights do change to any color you wand and it was easy to set up.

These may seem like a novelty but I have found them to be wonderful as backlights to my TV. My eyes appreciate them. Also, these are just fun to play with and show off to friends.

I got these on sale and can't compliment the easy set-up enough. Plug in the lights, plug in the bridge, download the app, and you're set. Adds a great ambiance to my house.

These lights are so easy to set up. Once setup with the iPhone app, you can control them from home or far away. They are always in sync and are amazing!!!!

Philips Hue lights are amazing, these bloom lights really add a nice color to any room. It sets the mood right no matter what you're doing.

I bought this kit to accompany my Hue lighting and Echo and it is amazing. The accents that can be added to any room are endless.
