Great compliment for your Hue system

Overall, this is a great product for your Hue system. Chances are, most people reading this probably already have some of the "regular" Hue A19 and/or BR-30 bulbs, and while they are a stellar product, you probably know by now that they cant really make a deep green or turquoise. Well, consider the blooms the exact compliment. They make very rich and deep greens and turquoise, and can make ANY other color that the regular bulbs can. I read somewhere once that the Blooms cant really make white, but that's not really true, because they do make a pretty good pure white, so not really sure what those people are talking about. Now, brightness...by no means are these as bright as the BR-30s #just check out their lumen output numbers#, but don't fret...the blooms still put out easily enough light to accent a room corner, behind a table, give uplighting, etc. I have mine a solid 6 feet from the corner of a wall and it easily throws up enough light to color the whole corner. You wouldn't really want to use these every day to read, but think of them as a hip mood-lighting for watching a movie, or like uplighting at a wedding where a room can be transformed from a boring color to a vivid pink, turquoise, or red. These really are for accenting, not as primary lighting. Overall, a great product. The ONLY reason I am taking off a star is because of the design. One would think that a light whose primary purpose is accenting would swivel so that it could be pointed almost straight up for uplighting, but this is not the case. They are rigid and don't form much of an angle with the floor at all, so on both of my blooms I had to kind of wedge a piece of paper which I folded many times under the small base to get them to angle up the wall so they could throw up light more....otherwise they would have lit up maybe the first 3-4 feet of the wall height and stopped, but propped up like that now they do 10 feet or more. So....I wish the base was flush against the floor and they could tilt up, but the fix is easy.

The light itself seems better then the more costly LED lighting strips you could buy since those require cutting, exact lengths and a bunch of other stuff. While the LED strips provide more "even" light around what you need them for, this light provides a big spotlight affect that I prefer more since my 65'' tv is in a corner of a white room. And the blue color we use really dose help with eye strain when your staring at the tv for hours on end. I do have some issues though that are more of a technical nature. The light requires a hub to use, which is sort of the size of a the box rokus. And in order to use the hub itself you need a smartphone so you can download the App that lets you adjust colors, brightness and other stuff. Which obviously a small minority will be stuck since they may not have a smartphone capable of downloading that App. The other problem is I always forget to turn the light on because its on my phone. There is no way to turn on the light or adjust the color...etc unless you have the app. They need to have some options on the box itself to turn on the lights and adjust colors, even if they added a LCD screen or maybe just some simple buttons. Even a remote would be useful since sometimes I will have people over and we are all set to watch something and I have to get up and look for my phone to turn the light and and adjust it. And get up again if I need to turn it off. With that said I still highly recommend this product. For eye strain relief alone its worth it. Though if you think you want the LED strips I'd ask BB workers about that option to. There are pros and cons to the light vs the LED strip.

I own an hour full of Philips Hue bulbs, in every variant. We were planning to have a party upstairs in a fairly empty space, so though why not buy a hand full of these to light it rather than turning the overhead lights on. Not the best idea. They produce so little light which is completely directional, that unless you're sat within a foot of it or want to be blinded by the pinpoint of the LED in the middle, you can only use these as accent lights pointing at something, like the wall to create a reflective surface to bounce the light back into the room. If many of these were put around a room you could create some lovely effects, however don't expect it to illuminate the room. Also, and this is a major problem of every one of the Philips Hue bulbs, it produces less lumens - doesn't shine as brightly - at lower hues - i.e. darker colours. Now this is to be somewhat expected, a dark blue isn't going to be as bright as a light blue, however to create mood lighting, you don't want really bright colours, so you end up with a dull bulb, producing even less light. This little lamp is made of a hard plastic and seems to be very well made, however being shiny white plastic will scratch very quickly. It would be better if it came in both white and black options. I tested this for one evening before returning it. If you want to accent something in a room, under a grand piano, a fireplace, in a bookcase or on top to create lighting effects on the ceiling then this is great. However for the price. You have more flexibility if you buy a standard hue bulb and an bulb extension cord. This, unfortunately is a very overpriced toy light that underwhelms at every turn and is a real disappointment in the Philips Hue range.

The bloom fits into any decor, gone are the days, where you spend hours..or days, trying to find the PERFECT lamp to go with the rest of your motif!! It fits your big table, little table, KITCHEN TABLE!! The colors, in my opinion, are likely why, the Philips company named their light products HUE!! Bloom changes your room into a sanctuary, brings that touch of SOFTNESS back into the ORDINARY!! Put it behind your window blinds, turns them from..the same as everybody else's..into your own unique mood of the day!! Yellows, blues, pinks, greens, purple, reds...I get to redocorate my room/rooms every day..a splash of tie-dye to a tired room, or enhance your television experience with a backdrop of a color you chose from one of your own photos!! Never a dull moment if you sync your music to pre-chosen color scene, or one you mixed up yourself, watch your lights dance in the room!! Mount it over/ under your favorite painting to add your own personal touch!! I love the bloom for brightening my mood..from it's size, to its ENDLESS color combos, room relaxation, party enhancer..even a disco ball!! Product of the year from HUE in my book!!

Product is very good and works very consistently from day to day, without the hiccups that sometimes plague gadgets and devices. It works seamlessly with the entire Hue ecosystem and Alexa. I have configured it to turn on by sunset, and since then it has been doing just that day after day. It works like clockwork, and has not failed . The make is nice, and blends in well with white furniture. The scenes and the ability to blend in colors makes this lighting system very flexible. I knocked off a star simply because of the wiring. The product should have been designed considering the fact that sometimes it needs to be positioned in reverse, facing the wall, and the wire coming from the direction of the wall too. When this happens, the wire needs to double back on the bulb itself, where you have to find the right position or balance of putting the bulb on top of the wire so the wire is not visible. A very simple groove or notch to take this into consideration would have allowed the bulb to rest on top of the wire while still being flush with the tabletop. Overall though, awesome product.

The bloom would probably be my least favorite of all of my hue lighting products. For starters, it's not very bright. At night it looks fine, however, during the day, it lacks the lighting power that it's bulb counterparts have. To be fair, it clearly states that the bloom has less lumens, but worth noting. Also, the Bloom doesn't have the different shades of white like the normal bulbs/lightstrip have. So while I have the rest of my lights on the relaxed preset, the bloom changes to an off shade of yellow that clearly is different from the other lights. One good thing about it that I have mixed feelings about is that it has more vivid tones of blue and green and MUCH more vivid tones of red than the lightbulbs. By itself, that's a good thing, but when you just want all of your lights to be the same color, it can be annoying. Now for the price, I think it matches the price of all the other lights in the hue family: overpriced. But if you're like me and already have invested 100s of dollars into your smart lighting, another $60 won't kill anyone. Wish it was closer to $50, but oh well. Overall, not bad if you use it as an individual light in an isolated corner, but I would not recommend putting it around other lightbulbs.

I purchased generation 3 of Hue lighting for my living room and was delighted with the results, but something was lacking. I needed a little flair behind my tv, so I picked up the Hue Bloom. It was a flawless installation and completed the ambiance I was hoping to achieve, however, that was short lived. The darn thing only worked for a day and a half. It went dark and never turned back on. Trying to do the right thing I contacted Phillips They told me to download a software package that could solve my problem. Too bad the software had no executable file, so that was worthless. I returned for an exchange. The next one lasted 2 days before going dark and dead. Contacted Philips and they assured me the newest generation did not have this same issues as previous generations. I sent it back to Philips so lets see how long it take for them to send the replacement. Sad, that they seemed to have rushed a product to market before it was completely ready for consumer use.

This item is an older hue device, as such it does not have a pure white mode selection like their newer bulbs do. It uses a regular RGB chip which means it turns on all three colors to make a "white"-- it ends up being a little blue-ish. Some color selections are more obvious which colors are used to mix, and setting the colors with this device grouped to other newer generation hue bulbs usually ends up with it being slightly off if you're not selecting a "pure" color for it easily render, or if it's too close to the others. However, when it is off by itself pointed at a wall to color wash, it does the job nicely, and has the right amount of brightness for my use (behind my TV as bias lighting). The feel of this device is very nice though, metal base, feels solid enough, and looks modern enough so if it's visible it won't be an eye-sore.

I've been investing a lot in Phillips Hue and my only real complaint is that each device requires it's own outlet (vs. being daisy chained). My other big complaint is the size of the plug itself. It doesn't fit in the hole in my cabinet so I have to run the cable across the cabinet to the plug. It's a minor gripe, but depending on your set up you have to create work arounds depending on where you place the light. If it's just on your table and it's by itself, no problem, but you might run itno issues once you start incorporating a number of lights to use for Hue Entertainment (light effects behind your TV). just something to keep in mind. In terms of performance, I absolutely love this lamp. It's bright and the colors are an awesome/cool addition to my home.

3 different lights failed within 3 months of insta

Had to replace 3 different lights through Phillips secondary to the fact they all failed within 3 months of the install. All lights were used on a regular basis. Really like the concept of the light. I have many different Hue products including the strips (really like them) and a handful of the bulbs (they are okay) but this product is a failure. When the product fails once I can see it being defective however when 3 different lights fail around the same time you know something is wrong. Please save yourself time and aggravation and avoid this product for now. Go with the strips if it works for your area instead. I have had those lights on daily for well over year plus without any problems.

I have a home theater room with two main light fixtures (each has two Phillips Hue multi-colored bulbs in them), a Phillips hue strip running under my couch, and a Bloom accent light sitting behind my projector screen (which is 103" in size). I was initially worried that the Bloom wouldn't be bright enough to be used as an accent light but it is. I can see the light its casting all around my screen making a nice frame that I can change to match the scenery. I do wish it was a bit brighter, I also wish that Phillips would figure out how to make the power adapter smaller. My power strip is already cramped enough and the plug for the Bloom is bigger than anything else I have plugged in. But it still does the job, the light was easy to pair with my Hue Bridge, and the app connected to the light almost immediately.

I bought my first one of these last year when I found one at an extremely low price on another site. I had heard of them before, but never tried it. It seemed a bit expensive for just a colored light. Now I have the Hue Bloom (this product) and Iris lights as uplights in my major rooms and my bedroom. I never believed a light that slowly changes color (or shows just the color of your choice) would make a difference in how I experience my own house, but it make everything so much better looking, and helps improve my mood too. If you have the money for this type of purchase, I would urge you to give it a try. You also have to get at least one Hue internet bridge with buttons for controlling the lights, and you can get one of those separately or in a "starter kit".

Everything works as expected. The light does a nice job. Had a little difficulty updating it. It took over 24 hours for it to update. I eventually removed the light from the app and re-added it and then it took just about an hour. Not sure what went wrong. The only other issue is that Best Buy packaged it in a box that was 4 times the size with very little protection. I received the package and the light inside bounced around throughout the delivery. Everything in the original package was outside floating around in the previously stated 4X too big of a box. I would have returned it if it hadn't worked.

I have almost every kind of hue light at this point. They're all pretty amazing and I would suggest anyone interested in home automation to purchase them. We have this light aimed from a table onto a family painting. It makes the painting look great! NOW, we are getting all kinds of comments from visitors and that painting has been there for YEARS. Goes to show what the right lighting can do. This light is best for casting a large beam onto the wall. My major issue is that it can be a bit more challenging to get a pure white light than on the standard bulbs. You will see colors come through on the edge of the light beam. I would still recommend this mainly because you can move it to any room with ease.

Note: This was my first foray into the colored side of Hue and I can see the appeal! I honestly assumed this was a rechargeable product. Take a good look at the box and you'll see no power cord depicted in photos, and they are failed to receive mention in the description on the box. Other than that, it's a good quality item, capable of producing just about any color you can think of. It's a full spectrum light. One other concern you might have, given the power cable, is placement. it is an accent light that should be tucked away out of sight. Not you must keep in mind that an outlet has to be nearby. This could limit its utility. All in all, a product I liked, but not without its drawbacks.

Purchased two of these to be used on bedside tables. Overall they are great lights, the colors add ambiance and really provide a calm and inviting environment. The integration with Apple Homekit and the built-in Hue App scenes and automations all work very well. My only wishlist item for these would be that they would be a little bit brighter. On max brightness, even on a white color setting, and having two of them in the room, it's still a little too dark to be considered a true "table lamp replacement". I know this is not their primary purpose, so I would not consider this a flaw; just something I would like in an ideal world.

My house has a lot of Hue white bulbs, but my color bulbs are mostly confined to the living room (4 A19s and now the Bloom). The Bloom acts as bias lighting behind the TV. My daughter and I have set up the 5 color lights in scenes for various Disney princesses, superheroes, holidays, etc. The Bloom is a nice looking uplight that feels substantially constructed. It looks good enough to sit on a table without being an eyesore. I have used a zip tie to affix it to the upper back of the TV and project the light just above the screen. The retail price is a little steep, but when I saw it go on sale, I pulled the trigger. I'm very happy I did.

I've had a lot of fun with these bulbs in my house. I've found that I primarily use my Amazon Echo to control them now. I don't use the apps as much as I did when I first bought them. The only problem with the Amazon echo is that it cannot change the color. It can only turn them on and off and change the brightness. I've also started using the IFTT Apps to set conditions. It's pretty cool to have a lights change color when the weather is going to be bad, or when you get an email from a specific person. As more developers continue to write for it I'm sure the functions will get even better. I only wish they weren't so expensive. I'd replace every bulb in my house if they were cheaper

This is my opinion only and based off of 6mos to 1 year of owning. The Philips Hue lighting system is horrible. The iphone app is poor (being kind) and the lights will loose contact with the hub on a daily basis. The website is poor and has very little helpful information. Purchased this hub to replace the same style that absolutely would not work on a regular basis. Was instructed by BestBuy to purchase another as nothing else had resolved the issue. The new one is no better. Truly believe this is just really crappy technology. The light will work occasionally. Very poor technical support.

For some they might think it is a pricey investment for colorful accent lighting. The way I have configured the lights I have has actually added pretty cool scenes to the atmosphere. I have them turning on certain times and with certain color patterns. Since I can adjust the brightness too I ended up using these more than my regular lights. The cool think is that it can work with other smart home setups so you can get creative when lights flash (i.e. receive text message this light blinks to let me know) This light is in not as bright as the others but I do use it as an accent light near the TV so it adds just enough color/light to give some cool accents.
