Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the aesthetically pleasing design and ease of use of the Hue White Ambiance Being Dimmable LED Smart Flushmount. However, some customers found the installation instructions challenging and reported difficulty replacing the light bulb. Concerns were also raised regarding the price point and the lack of color options. The overall experience appears to be mixed, with positive feedback on the appearance and usability offset by installation and light bulb replacement issues.

Additional screws needed to install, but good

This is a great and highly adjustable light. The brushed metal is very modern looking. Installing: You need to have some additional screws to mount the light, so be sure to open and disassemble the light and see what you'll need before going to a hardware store (this is like most overhead lights, but if you're new to buying this type of lighting, it isn't unusual). The instructions could be clearer, but you should be able to figure it out. The light provided can be tailored to the time of day or space that you are in. The quality of the light can range from a heavy blue-light for waking up, to a more mellow yellow for relaxing. It can also be dimmed as needed. If you turn off the light-switch rather than using the app, you'll need to adjust the light again when you turn it back on. I understand that this can be avoided by using one of the Philips smart switches, but that I do not have. The amount of light generated is good, but not overpowering. If you have very high ceilings or plan on this being the primary light source in a larger room, you may be disappointed. But if you are in a smaller area of the kitchen or an office, you'll have no problem. Standard point to note: you need to have a Philips Bridge to connect any of these smart-lights to. I have read that this also works with a particular model of the Amazon Alexa devices, but cannot confirm.

Good light, but requires more products to be 100%

The Philips - Hue White Ambiance Dimmable LED is a great addition to smart home lighting. But unfortunately in order for it to be truly smart it requires additional products like an Alexa and a Phillips bridge in order to make it completely wireless and for the price I think that is a little steep. The light itself is great and bright and I love that it can be controlled with your phone. The sunlight setting is really cool as well which simulates a sunrise. All in all I think for 200 dollars the price for the light is a little steep with no real remote. But overall I am happy with the purchase l.

My wife and I have an old 70s home, and have slowly been turning it into a modern smart home. This is a very cool fixture - it looks great, and is easy to install. However, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. If you have installed any fixture in the ceiling before, this is similar - quite easy. Just make sure you turn off the breaker! Using this in combo with other Philips products is awesome. It just works great to be able to control your lighting with your voice. If you like this design, and want a smart fixture - this is the one.

Fantasic, lighting effects, motion control (sold separately), but very pricey, especially since you will still need to buy the Philips Hue Bridge which isn’t exactly cheap either. That being said, it is really cool overall, once you have this flushmount installed, and you have it all setup on your home network and apps on your devices to control not only turning the lights on, but their color hue, brightness, and can be voice controlled via Amazon Alexa. The design is very nice too. Simple yet not too modern.

I really like my new Phillips Hue. This light replaced my aged dining room chandelier. It was super easy to install and it gave my dining room the modern look I was looking for. It's much brighter and seems to offer a nice glow to the room. The only down side is that to get the full affect of this light you must purchase the Phillips Hue Bridge. Please don't let that discourage you from purchasing this light as it looks great produces tons of light and installs in minutes.

I was truly excited to install this product and put it through the paces. After unpacking this fixture, I noticed that a few of the clear plastic panels were not fastened and seated correctly. Apparently they became loose during the shipping process. This in itself was no big deal, as they were easily slipped back into their slots. Installation of the fixture was a snap! If you have ever attached a light fixture to a ceiling, you will have no trouble with this item. The unit has 3 wires, hot, cold and a green grounding wire. The product is not supplied with twist on wire connectors, so you will have to purchase them at your local store.. These are the fasteners that allow you to attach the fixture wires to the ceiling wires. You will need three of them for this product. There is also no mounting hardware which you will need to attach the fixture to your ceiling. The Philips Hue fixture is not sold with a Hue Bridge nor a Wall Dimmer. If you wish to control this fixture via cell phone, you're out of luck. You must purchase a Hue Bridge in order to use this product via a smart phone. You can use this product without a Bridge, but you will not be able to unlock and access all of the lighting modes. The appearance of the fixture is ultra-modern and sleek, with no complaints. It looks and feels thoroughly modern and is as smart as any Philips Hue product. The product has a designer aura that will please the modern design aesthetic. As with most LED products, I am not sure if and when an LED does "burn out" if that will effect all of the rest of the LED's. I know from experience, that some products will cease to operate if "one" LED burns out. I am not sure what happens in the case of this Philips product. Philips rates their LED lights at 25,000 hours of life and there’s a two-year warranty. That makes me somewhat hopeful, and I recommend that you keep your receipts just in case you need to exercise a warranty claim. As for the functionality......Lighting and the different modes are very pleasant. My fixture is mounted in an area leading to our kitchen. This area is quite large, and the fixture had no problem providing adequate lighting. You will have a lot of fun testing and playing with the lighting modes. You should be pretty happy with this product. Philips is a winner.

Out of the box, the light fixture had a very cool modern design. And mounted in the dining room it was like transforming the space into a five-star restaurant, I am definitely getting two more. The hue system makes this the 2017 clapper that you can use from anywhere with different light levels, Go check it a great project for any weekend handy man.

I finally had the time to install this light fixture and I must say, I love it. I have two boys, ages 6 and 7 and I am constantly telling them to turn the lights off in their rooms, turn the bathroom lights off, etc, etc. When I had the chance to get this light, I was hoping it would solve that problem and I happy to say it has. I did buy a motion sensor to go with the light and my problem has been solved. This fixture will work with just a light switch, but you lose the functionality of being able to control it with the app and adjust the brightness of the light. Installation was simple if you have any DIY skills at all which is good because the instructions could be a bit better. It recommends turning the breaker off, but I just turned the light switch off and installed the fixture. Installation took about 15-20 minutes. Once you install the light and turn the power on to it, you are greeted with a good amount of light in a modern fixture. The best part of this light fixture is using the app. I was able to setup a routine to turn the light on to full brightness during daytime hours and to a lighter brightness during evening hours. My youngest son loves to sleep with his room light on even though I have another lamp in his room with a Philips bulb in it that comes on to 50% brightness that serves as his night light. I created a "routine" in the app that has this light stay on until roughly 9:30 when he has fallen completely asleep and then it turns off and turns on the lamp. There is a bit of a learning curve with the "routines" so you may need to play around with them a bit to get the best setup for your needs, but in time, you will figure it out. I did have to teach my son that he no longer needs to turn on and off either of the light switches in his room. This is important because if there is no constant power to the light, then the routines and light settings are disabled. The motion sensor is set to low and at a height that will trigger the sensor when he walks in the room. I have the sensor set to go off after 2 minutes of inactivity. I really like how easy it was to install, the functionality of the app and the different colors of light that I can project in his room. At $200, this light is definitely pricey, but since its an LED light, I wont have to break out the ladder every couple of months to replace the bulb and knowing that the lights are off when no on is in the room quantify this light for me. This light also works with Apple Homekit and although I haven't set it up to work my Sony Google Assistant yet, the box says it is compatible. I can just ask Siri to turn the light out in his room and it works. Although with the routines set up, I don't need to do that. Just make sure when you purchase this that you do have the Philips Hub or it will be just a ceiling light. I would definitely recommend this light and I plan to add another one to my oldest son's room.

I admit it, I was skeptical. I'm a creature of habit, and have not been an easy convert to newer, and more energy efficient light sources. In fact, I've been hoarding incandescent bulbs for more than a decade; unable to find a compact fluorescent bulb that "resonated" with me. But, having had some recent success with LED bulbs, and the fact that we've been very satisfied with other Philips' products that we've purchased, we decided to try this out. I really don't know where to begin. From the range and spectrum of the light provided, to the available app for dimming, I'm extremely pleased. But, what has most impressed me, is the versatility of the fixture itself. Our original intent for this product was to replace the ceiling light in our bedroom, an area of the home where I see overhead lighting as little more than a necessary evil for cleaning and such. Surprise, this is not just a ceiling fixture! The function of the product, as well as its overall design aesthetic, makes it easily adaptable to any room, or surface. We've since purchased two additional fixtures to be used on opposing walls in our great room. It provides the great light for crafts or home projects, as well as the perfect ambience for dining and entertaining. Consider us, satisfied customers.

The Philips Hue Flushlmount is beautiful. It integrates well with many design styles, from modern to rustic. It just seems to fit in about anywhere. Add in that it can be controlled by figital assisstants, like Google Home, Alexa, and Siri, and you have a wonderful addition to any room in your home. Not only does this serve as a typical light, but through the Hue Experience app, you can use this light as a "sunlight simulator," to wake you up naturally in the mornings. The light gradually gets brighter and brighter, ensuring you wake up refresshed and relaxed, as opposed to being jarred awake by a noisy alarm clock. You can also set any kind of mood with the Philips Hue Flushmount, from a focus on concentration for a work-like environment, to a relaxing, warm light that will be a nice end to your day. Since the light is adjustable, you don't have to stick with one setting, which is great for those who work from home and have many rooms they use for multiple purposes, depending on the time of day. I believe that a Philips Hue Bridge is required to use the Philips Hue Flushmount as anything but a light that turns on and off, and I highly recommend to ensure you get the most out of this lighting system.

The Phillips Hue Smart Flush mount LED provides the perfect lighting makes my living room feel like the most comfortable room in the house. I love the look and finish of the aluminum design. It's really nice that I can control the temperature of the light from my mobile phone using the Phillips App.

To do anything useful, this light requires a Philip Hue Bridge. Not a big deal if you've already committed to Philips' ecosystem, but I have not (yet) so I wasn't willing to install & try it out, unfortunately. But, from the packaging and installation instructions I can certainly help! This light is 13" in diameter and 2" tall in case you're looking for it to fit a particular spot. In addition to it tying to a Hue Bridge, it's also intended to be hard-wired to a light fixture (not to be used as a lamp, "stick up anywhere", or other type of light). It also, by the pictures & description, can't do *any* color you want, but rather only shades of natural light (eg: 'cool blue' to 'relaxing orange' etc)

Thought id write a quick comment on this just incase anyone else falls for it. The light says 2400 Lumens, which should be super bright. It is not very bright at all. I bought this to replace a 1000 Lumen bathlight. The Phillip's is not as bright! It may be the cover not letting enough light through but it certainly doesn't shine 2400 lumens. Be warned. Its more of a warm glow it creates.
