The Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra electric shaver is a high-end shaver. It can be as simple as you want or as feature packed as you want. Plus, it’s super premium in build to round it out as a lux shaver. Performance The razer was able to handle everything from light stubble on the daily on me, to my thick, multi-day long wanna-be beards without breaking a sweat. The “Triple Action Lift & Cut” system is impressive—it lifts the hair before cutting it, which gives you a smooth cut feeling without the friction of a cartridge razer. The circular blades are crazy sharp and move fast so it doesn’t take long to get the job done. I originally didn’t think it would do well because it didn’t seem to get as good coverage as my other electric razer (a brand that starts with a “B”), but it cut just as well or better. It still needs me to go over the same area two or three times, but I’ve never had an electric razer that didn’t need me to do that. With this razer, there are three heads so three chances to cut the stubble. It gets the job done, and I’m fairly satisfied with the job that it does. There’s a pressure sensor that gives you feedback while you shave so you don’t press too hard. I hit it a lot because I was trying to get done faster with the razer. Since this has a blade head on a pivot, it was a good thing to keep me from cutting myself. This is very different from heads that are a straight line. Design and Ease of Use The build feels premium with a metal feel through the handle and a satisfying weight on the buttons and locking mechanisms. The shaver heads are flexible and move in all directions, which makes it easier to get into tricky spots like under your nose or along your jawline. It’s also great that it works for both wet and dry shaving. I generally shave dry to reduce the gunk in my electrics. I’m just NOT an App guy, and a lot of the features and options are hidden behind an App. If you are like me, you can just... turn it on then turn it off. The basic automatic setting is so good that you can just skip the other part of the experience altogether. This version didn’t come with an auto cleaner, and I regret not getting one. It’s a time saver. I wish that it was easier to get one after the fact. You hearing me, Phillips? Overall opinion: I love how smooth my face feels after using this shaver. One of the closest electric shaves I’ve had. That said, the precision trimmer could be better. I tend to use these in sensitive areas, and it just took too many swipes for my comfort. It’s not at a low value tier. Definitely up there in value. You get close shaves, comfort, and premium features plus smart app features to really get into options. Overall it’s a definite RECOMMEND!

Clean and Close Shaves; Minimal Maintenance

I’ve been using a foil shaver for the past 10 years, but I have never tried a rotary. The first thing I noticed when using the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige was how incredibly quiet it was compared to my foil. The second thing I noticed was how effortless and easy it was to get a nice close shave. Cleaning is easy, as you can just rinse it with water. If you open the shaving head, you can rinse inside to clean it more thoroughly. There is a light ring that illuminates orange if you are applying too much pressure, blue if it’s too light, and green if it’s perfect. It takes some practice to keep it green, especially under the chin and neck area. It fades from one color to the other and changes instantly as you are shaving providing immediate feedback. There are 72 self-sharpening blades. The instructions say you only need to replace the blades every two years, which is much less frequent than what I’m used to. Only time will tell, but I will be happy if after two years it performs as well as it does out of the box. This kit comes with a carrying case for traveling and a charger cord which goes into a USB-A port. I wish it was just a USB-C port for charging in case I were to lose the proprietary cable, but at least the cable is small enough to squeeze into the case with the shaver. You can plug the cable directly into the shaver and leave the base at home for trips. The only real downside is the precision trimmer that pops out of the back for trimming sideburns or defining beard lines. It’s weak, takes several passes to get the hairs, and cannot shave close to the skin. It’s worth noting that there is an app available but the QR code in the instruction manual leads me to the Philips support page and entering the model number i9000 only shows me results for the older S9000. I think this model is likely too new to even show up on their support website so I was not able to try out the app. Pros - Easy to See Light Ring to Indicate Pressure - Quiet - Can be used wet or dry - Clean, close shave - Self-sharpening blades last 24 months (Replace with SH91) - Carrying Case Included - Includes charging base and USB-A Cable (but not charger brick) - 2-year warranty Cons: - Precision Trimming is Weak Overall – For my first rotary shaver I’ve been impressed. It gives a nice close shave, requires minimal maintenance, and the blades do not have to be replaced often.

    Smooth Shave for Sensitive Skin

I have had a chance to use the Philips Norelco 9000 Prestige for a few shaving sessions and think I have experienced enough to give it a good review. PROS MESH- does a nice job lifting the hair and getting a close shave. PIVOTING BLADES- The ease of shaving the chin area or higher up on the cheek bone or jawline is nice and smooth transition from flat areas. BATTERY LIFE- I have let it sit in between shaves and have shaved 4x and the battery life is at 60%, it hold s a charge and doesn't burn thru the battery during shaves. COLOR GUIDE- The color lighting guide is very useful once you get used to observing the color ring while keeping the circular motion with the proper pressure. The ring lights up green when you are using the appropriate pressure to make sure you get a close shave, the light turns blue when you aren't aren't applying enough pressure...VERY EASY TO USE. QUICK ACCESS FLIP TOP- very easy to clean the blades and rinse it out with water and brush out the hair. SELF CLEANING CYLE- Great cleaning cycle but not all models come with the base cleaning POD. CONS TRIMMER- the attached trimmer is not the great, it trims the length easy enough , for example sideburns or beard edges but it is not a clean line. The blades are too rough and not fine enough to get clean/straight sharp lines. MISSING SELF CLEANINGPOD- Great cleaning cycle but not all models come with the base cleaning POD even though the model comes with the self cleaning cycle, it should be included and not be an extra purchase. BONUS REVIEW: I purchased a separate cleaning base and liquid solution and placing the shaver upside allows you to engage the self cleaning cycle which does a great job rinsing out the cut hair and lubricating the moving parts. I definitely recommend it. OVERALL Great shaving experience, the most important issue is keep an eye on the color ring because i pressed a little too hard a few times and irritated my skin. Once i paid closer attention to the color ring I did not get any irritation and my skin was nice ands smooth. It is not as close as a razor shave- even a disposable plastic razor shave but it is as close as someone like me with sensitive skin can truly appreciate.

A New Version of Old Reliable

Since I started growing facial hair, I’ve always used a Philips Norelco shaver. My first one was gifted to me by my dad and it was inexpensive and basic. Over the years, I’ve continued to upgrade. A device with such a simple task really doesn’t change all that much over time, but little tweaks do make a big difference. Compared to my previous shavers, the I9000 Prestige definitely has the most features and provides the closest shave yet. The shaver itself is well built and feels sturdy in the hand. The power and mode buttons provide nice feedback when pressed. The mode button allows you to cycle between battery percentage, turn on and off the power lock for travel, and turn on or off the pressure sensing ring light around the shave head. The display is the largest I’ve had on any shaver and it certainly makes it easy to see/read. The pressure sensing light certainly feels a little gimmicky, but I could see how that might be useful for someone learning how to shave or with limited manual dexterity. The shave head articulates EXTREMELY well, especially under the chin/lower jaw. I no longer have to crane my neck to make it straight; the I9000 glides over steep curves effortlessly. But of all the features and improvements that this shaver comes with, my personal favorite may just be the simplest. That being the charging situation. Less expensive Philips Norelco shavers come with just a charging cable with a fixed brick on the end. The I9000 comes with a cable that has a USB-A end, so it can be used with any charging brick or a USB wall charger. It also comes with a charging stand. In the past, I’ve stored my shaver in the drawer and basically used it until it was dead. Then I’d charge it back up and repeat. Such a simple thing, but the charging stand allows me to keep my shaver docked in plain sight and ensure it is always charged for my daily shave or when I need to pack it up for a trip. I guess I’m easy to please ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have been using Philips shavers for many years and the Norelco i9000 Prestige performs very well. It felt like a distinct upgrade from my last year’s S9000. The i9000 Prestige shaver has great design and built quality. It looks and feels premium. The shaver has built-in trimmer, and it can connect through your phone to provide a score and overview of how you can improve your shaving. There’s an LED ring light on the shaver that provides visual cue whether you’re applying too much or too little pressure when shaving. Battery power is excellent as it takes less than 10 percent of juice when I use the shaver for my weekly routine. I always shave my facial hair dry, and the shaver works both effectively and efficiently. I did use the trimmer to shorten my facial hair before using the shaver blades. The shaver glide through the skin smoothly and it did the job effectively. The shaver had no problem in following the contour of my face and the whole shaving experience was mostly seamless. Philips wants you to shave in rotary motion and I followed suit. There was no skin irritation occurring and I was very pleased with the result as I could feel the smoothness of the skin. It only took several minutes to perform my weekly routine. The shaver charges through a USB cable and it includes a charging dock. However, there’s no USB charger being included. Charging works with typical USB phone charger. There’s a small case included to store the shaver when traveling. The shaver is also easy to maintain even without relying on Philips’ cleaning pods. I did use the cleaning pod that I got from my S9000 shaver last year, so cleaning was a breeze at the push of a button. Manual cleaning is easy enough, just use water to run through the trimmer blade and the shaver. Getting small hairs out from the shaver and cleaning the shaver blades is easy enough. Bottom line is this shaver has so far exceeded my expectations. Like: Great results Comes with traveling case Easy to clean and maintain Long battery life Don’t like: No USB Charger included

I have not used an electric razor in a while, but the Philips Norelco has opened my eyes to just how convenient they are, and how technology has made them so much better. It's now my regular travel companion (thanks to the handy included case). The only thing that would make it perfect is if the Norelco has a USB C port. -= In the Box =- - Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige - Carrying Case - Charging Stand - Charging Cable (USB A to 2 pin adapater) - Cleaning. Brush -= First Impressions =- The Norelco i9000 looks nice, with a mix of soft touch plastics and matte and gloss metallic plastics. There's a power button, a small LED screen (shows battery status and current setting), and another button to cycle between different modes. -= Setup =- It's optional, but you can pair the i9000 to the Philips "GroomTribe" app. I decided to pair, as the box claims "powered by AI" so was keen to see how it worked. Pairing took seconds, the app doesn't require registration but Philips promise an extended warranty if you do register. -= Use =- The Norelco i9000 works as both a wet or dry shaver, I prefer dry - one of my quirks on electric razors, I get anxious about liquid! The bit that is revealing and not obvious until you use it is there's a LED ring around the top of the Norelco that detects the pressure. Blue, too light, Orange too hard, and Green just right. It's best to do this in front of a mirror, as you can only just see the colors in your peripheral vision except when you get to your neck. When paired to the app - see the images, you will get a report on your shave technique. This is handy and makes for a smooth shave, as using an electric razor requires a different technique to a manual razor. -= What's Good =- The Norelco i9000 shaves smooth and close. Great for those early morning rush shaves, but also great to have in your bag to clean up the 5 o'clock shadow before a client dinner. It's relatively quiet and after a week of use, battery life is solid. I also love the included carrying case, it's super premiium and fits both the Norelco i9000 and the charging cable - just a little snug for the cleaning brush, but no issue - as the i9000 can be cleaned with a running tap. The colored LED ring is useful to help you shave better. The app is interesting, but right now I am not sure you need the app long term - good to get use to the circular motion of electric shaving, but not as useful as say a smart app for an electric toothbrush (the latter I use everyday - app and toothbrush haha). -= What's Not So Good =- The charging was a bit slow, I need a faster USB A charger. I wish it charged via a USB C to USB C cable, as easier to get a GAN charger that would make for a faster recharge. I am guessing that's something to do with the need to also use the charging point as a stand (the base stand uses the same 2 pin design) holds the i9000 upright. -= Final Thoughts =- I am super impressed with the Norelco, from the premium look and feel, to the case, to the smarts (LED ring light). Definitely recommended and I think I wiill pick up another as a gift.

This is my first time using an electric shaver and I must say that I am impressed. I have tried it on 1 to 4 days of the beard and have got the same smooth, irritation free shave every time. Here are my observations after around 2 weeks of use. The design of the shaver is pretty good. It feels quite natural in the hand and reaches all areas without any problems. There is a light that indicates how much pressure you are applying. I find it really helpful as it takes the guesswork out. There is also an app and the shaver connects to your phone via bluetooth. This allows you to review your shaves for pressure, motion and time. As per the product description it has dual nano tech blades with a lift and cut system. I can say that this is not a marketing gimmick as I get smooth shave similar to manual razors without any nicks and cuts. The shaver came with a charger base, charging cable, carrying case, cleaning brush and manual. It takes around an hour to fully charge and 5 minutes to charge it enough for one shave. There is also a trimmer at the back to edge your side buns neatly. But I don't find it very helpful.

The Phillips Norelco lives up to its reputation of being a great shaver. My husband loves how smooth this shaver is. You can use it dry or wet, a great feature on any shaver. It does not take long to charge, maybe about thirty minutes or less, but it will probably last about five shave sessions. That should not be too big of an issue unless you're shaving every day. That means if you need to travel with the shaver or run low on time and shave outside your home, you do not need to pack up the charger. Just take the shaver in its carrying case. The stand that comes with the shaver is very small and can fit in smaller spaces, but it does not always feel very steady and looks like it can be knocked over easily. According to my husband, When shaving, the shaver contours to your face very easily and smoothly. It shaves the hair down closely to the skin so that I can use it every other day or every day, depending on my needs or how I feel. It is a very lightweight shaver that is easy to hold. It also features an edger (clipper) but can sometimes feel awkward to hold in position when the clipper is propped out.

The i9000 Prestige is an amazing travel razor. It’s lightweight, comes with a great case, and has an exceptionally long battery life. The app keeps track of your usage, motion, pressure, and most importantly, blade life. I honestly don’t see myself using the app very often, but it’s a nice addition to an already great razor. Shave wise, it does a great job reaching all areas. My face is thin and angular, and I often default to a manual razor because it’s tough to shave around my jawline. While it doesn’t cut quite as close as a standard razor in those areas, it still does a really good job, and actually performs better than my regular razor in some spots. I really like the pressure sensor and the little touches, like the screen turning on when you pick it up. I did find the instructions confusing at best, and more unhelpful than helpful. I ended up looking up instructions online, since the included guide almost made it seem like I was supposed to have some extra attachments, but it seems I was misreading it. I travel constantly for work, and I’ll definitely be bringing this with me going forward. The razor comes with a charging stand, but also includes a cable you can use without the stand. That’s a big bonus for me because I’ll probably never use the stand and just keep the cable in my luggage. The razor claims to be 100% waterproof, though I haven’t tested that yet. I’m not much of a shower shaver, but it’s nice to know the option is there. Overall, I’m very happy with it, and I really like the overall simplicity of the device.

AI-Powered Smart Shaver Produces Better Shave

PERSPECTIVE: I’ve been a lifelong Norelco (North American [Philips] Electrical Co.) shaving customer as was my father, whose 1st Norelco was a 2-headed shaver before he moved up to Norelco’s 1st 3-headed shaver. Over the years, I’ve purchased multiple Norelco triple-head shavers, even though I’ve often sat on the sidelines during Philips’ periods of proliferating model releases, which have often included only minor iterative changes. But whenever Norelco has released a major upgrade or a bundle of small but notable improvements in a single new model, I’ve always bitten. Enter the new i9000 Prestige Ultra shaver which includes multiple enhancements/accessories that showcase/highlight some of the more recent developments from Philips’ Personal Health division. My review, however, is of the NON-Ultra Prestige shaver, which is the base model in the current i9000 line although, given the price pt. of this non-Ultra model, I’m frankly surprised that it doesn’t include the extra features/accessories included w/the Ultra model. Nevertheless, the core features of this more limited non-Ultra shaver are worth examining. 1ST IMPRESSION/OPENING THE BOX: I’ve become accustomed to the sleek, understated, close-fitting, matte black aesthetic of the custom boxes/packaging in which many of today’s smart devices arrive. But the packaging for this shaver was unimpressive & even dated. Inside this ‘90s-style box was a flimsy black cardboard divider w/a form cutout for the thin canvas travel case. What happened to Norelco’s classy, padded leather/leatherette travel cases? And the tiny user guide offers only marginally helpful images as a substitute for a multi-language detailed printed instructions pamphlet. This wouldn’t be a bad idea IF the graphics were better illustrated & easier to follow. CHARGING: At the 1st charging, I was disappointed to discover that Philips doesn’t include a simple wall outlet power adapter. Instead, this ‘Prestige’ shaver comes w/a plastic charging stand w/a USB-A charging cable. Upon placing the narrow/pointy end of the shaver into the well of the charging base, it doesn’t seat w/a confirming click-in for stability. Standing the shaver on end makes it top-heavy & a bit wobbly in the well. I’m also disappointed that I can’t plug in a power cord from the wall to the razor to grab a quick shave when the lithium-ion battery is depleted & I’m in a hurry. Add to that, there’s no option for wireless charging & the corded charging time-to-runtime ratio is slow & inefficient. It takes a full hr. of charging to get 1 hr. of runtime for just 20 3-min. shaves. Philips must remember their target market here. While those of us who gravitate towards higher-end electric shavers want quality shaves, we also seek convenience & time savings, hoping to ‘shave off’ a min. or 2 from our daily routines where possible. With a limited 1:1 battery charging/runtime ratio, I’m not sure the juice is worth the squeeze. PHONE APP: After downloading the Philips ‘GroomTribe’ app, I had difficulty achieving a successful initial BT pairing between my Samsung Galaxy Ultra smartphone & the shaver. Then, I discovered that turning the shaver “on” does NOT mean just pressing the unit’s navigation button on the face of the shaver which illuminates a small LED display screen allowing the user to scroll thru its 4 menu options: 1. Battery: remaining charge %; 2. Travel Lock/Unlock; 3. Light Ring On/Off; 4. Shaver Paired/Unpair. Instead, the shaver must be RUNNING, i.e., BLADES TURNING, to achieve the initial pairing. This is thankfully unnecessary when simply ‘reconnecting’ the shaver to your smartphone via BT after the shaver has been paired initially. The App’s Device Health screen displays helpful stats about the shaver, incl.: 1. Battery status; 2. Shaving Heads status w/a blade wear indicator based on your cumulative usage (Philips recommends replacing the SH91 shaving heads after 24 mos. although your mileage may vary based on how often you shave, the duration of your shaving sessions, & how thick/coarse your beard is); 3. Daily Usage stats for the week, incl.: Pressure, Motion, & Duration data. USAGE: DRY/WET SHAVER: Although I tried this cordless shaver in the shower & had satisfactory results, my personal preference w/this razor is dry shaving in front of a well-lit mirror. This method consistently affords me better visibility & a closer shave w/o the hassles of trying to maneuver a wet shaver in the shower while continually squinting into a fogging mirror w/o my Rx glasses. But if you’re a wet shaver guy, 1 nice feature of this cordless razor is that it includes an ergonomic grip w/raised rubberized traction ridges on the upper sides of the handle to prevent the razor from slipping through wet hands in the shower. TRIPLE-HEAD SHAVING SYSTEM: At certain angles, the curved yet angular triple-action rotary shaving heads almost look like a section of a small spherical geodesic dome w/its pentagonal polyhedron design. ‘Skin IQ’ technology: the 3 compact, 360º rotating Flex heads include what Philips calls ‘skin stretching patterns’ that dynamically adapt to facial curves. The apertures atop the 3 heads allow the 72 self-sharpening nanotech DualSteel precision blades (24 blades/head), which are spinning underneath at approx. 2,100 RPM, to perform 150k cutting actions/motions/min. These blades lift-&-cut tiny facial & neck hairs, in any direction & so closely that the shaver can achieve a flush, 0.0 mm ‘skin-level close’ shave of your face/neck w/o nicking/irritating your skin, all while catching & cutting more hairs/stroke. This AI-powered shaver adapts to the user for a personalized/custom shave. It’s been dermatologically tested & described as ‘ultra-gentle.’ LIGHT RING: The Light Ring is the ‘sizzle’ in the steak & the biggest draw for purchasing the i9000 Prestige. Behind it are advanced sensors that activate the Light Ring & a BT-connected app which captures detailed data on every shaving session, providing relevant tips on how to improve your next shaving session. The Light Ring is part of the ‘Active Pressure & Motion Guidance System’ which provides real-time feedback to help you apply: 1. the optimal PRESSURE to your face/neck; 2. the optimal circular MOTION technique; 3. the optimal DURATION for each shaving session. This smart shaver helps you to better manage/control these 3 critical inputs to maximize the razor’s capabilities for the optimal shave. To unpack this, the Pressure Guard reads the amt. of pressure you’re applying against your skin via the shaving heads & provides real-time feedback through the Light Ring & the app’s data capture, allowing the user to adjust. In effect, this system integrates your human inputs w/the smart shaver’s design engineering to produce a cleaner, closer shave. Too little pressure = a blue light ring; just the right pressure = a green light ring; too much pressure = an orange warning light ring. Your goal, of course, is to keep the Light Ring in the green zone to achieve the ideal shave. Frankly, I was surprised by the shaver’s post-shave analysis of my 1st 3-min. shave when it revealed that I’d spent only 32% of my shaving session in the green zone. To my dismay, I spent 38% of my shave in the orange zone, pressing too hard as I was trying to get my shave in quickly while thinking about a pending work deadline that morning. With my excess force, I was not only shaving inefficiently; I was dulling my new shaver’s blades & irritating my skin. The other surprise was that I spent 30% of my shave in the blue zone. I think this was because I was a little hesitant at 1st to apply more pressure around my sensitive ‘gotcha’ zones between my upper lip & nose & around the neck below/behind my earlobes. In other words, I was every inconsistent! So, it was both disappointing & eye opening to discover that I was spending fully 2/3 of my shave applying anything but optimal pressure to my beard. Even the best, highest-tech, most expensive shaver can’t provide a close shave if the user is unknowingly & alternately applying too little or too much pressure. Sporadic inputs produce sporadic outputs, making the shaver much less effective, which in turn leads to excessive passes over the same areas of skin to cut missed whiskers, which ultimately leads to irritated skin that makes us look less than our best. So, if at 1st glance, you think the Light Ring appears a bit gimmicky, as I 1st did, you may want to reconsider. After I looked at the color graphics, raw numbers, & %’s in my App’s data log, following my 1st shave, I began to watch the Light Ring very closely in the mirror each time I shaved over the next few mornings. I started to leverage the Light Ring as a tool to help me spend more time in the optimal green zone, which resulted in a closer shave w/less skin irritation. In fact, the App’s 1st feedback msg. back to me openly encouraged me to strive for getting my green zone time above 60%. The good news is that, as I increased my time spent in the green zone, the duration of my individual shaving sessions began to drop from too much ‘overtime,’ as the app refers to it, to a place where I began to clock shaves right around the recommended 3-min. shave time. Happily, I was already scoring high on my circular Motion, the technique that Philips says catches & cuts the maximum # of whiskers & creates the least irritation. In summary, the i9000 Prestige has clearly helped me to improve & refine my shaving mechanics which has increased the overall effectiveness/value of the shaver for me. And this conclusion is supported by my improving metrics as measured by the shaver’s advanced sensors & recorded in the app data over the last 5 shaving days. Funny how that works: use your tools as they were designed to be used & you’ll get better results. And all this time I thought I was shaving correctly. Who knew?

    Another Amazing Philips Norelco Razor!!

I am writing this review for the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Electric Shaver. The i9000 Prestige shaver is one of the latest additions to the Philips Norelco line of personal grooming products. Over the past 30+ years, I have been a rather devout consumer of Philips Norelco products due to their marked superiority in true quality. I say true quality because nowadays it seems that quality is measured by gimmickry rather than by durability and usefulness. This is important when one is choosing personal care products such as electric shavers. To prove my point, I bought a Norelco Spectra 8825XL electric razor sometime around the year 2000. I not only still have that razor, but it still works just as well as it did the day I bought it. Even though I have two other Philips Norelco shavers, I just can’t bring myself to part with the Spectra. It still works just like it did when it was brand new! When I first used the i9000, I was quite pleased with the way it feels in my hand. It isn’t bulky or cumbersome, but rather sleek, comfortable and easy to hold. The body’s material allows for a great grip without having to hold on tightly. In fact, there are “ridges” on the side that make using it in the shower easy, with no slipping out of the hand. It’s super easy to see that Philips Norelco took a lot of effort with designing the razor, and considered just how user-friendly to make it. One of the points that really caught my eye was the claim that it can shave up to a closeness of 0.00mm. That’s close! It also boasts of a “Hydro SkinGlide Coating” that provides 50% smoother gliding to reduce friction. To top it all off, the i9000 boasts of 72 self-sharpening blades providing up to 150,000 cutting actions per minute. That’s a lot of boasting. The question then is, “Does it live up to its hype?” The first thing I did was to fully charge the razor as it came roughly 20% charged out of the box. I was surprised to see that it took less than one hour to fully charge the battery. The second thing I did was to actually use it to see just how true their boasting is. The i9000 is very quiet. It’s so quiet I almost wondered if it was actually fully charged. As I began to shave with it, however, and noticed how well it was cutting, I knew it was fully charged. The shave was effortless. The razor seemed to glide over the surface of my skin, almost as if there were no blades at all in the razor. But the closeness was crazy! Now, I had a two-days growth of beard, so I went into this a bit skeptical. My skepticism was short-lived. The i9000 cut as close as any razor blade I have ever used. If there was anything at all to take notice of, it would lie in just how easily the razor cuts the hair. There is no pulling whatsoever. I mean none. When you watch an advertisement for a traditional multi-bladed razor, one of the selling points is that the blades each work to help pull up the hair so that the blade following can not only cut even closer, but continue to pull the hair up until the last blade has pulled and cut until the hair actually goes beneath the surface of the skin. However, the blades of the i9000 are so unbelievably sharp that there is no pulling, and the cut is right down to the surface of the skin. For me, this is one of the greatest aspects of the i9000. Anyone who has ever suffered from hair bumps knows exactly what I mean. There is no pulling the hair up until it falls beneath the skin and causes irritation as it grows back! After shaving, I used the trimmer to see just how evenly it would cut my sideburns. Almost perfectly. I like the way you can trim around your ears as well if you have shorter hair like I do. Although the Philips Norelco i9000 is a “smart” razor, I have to admit that for me, that is not one of its strong selling points. Sure, you can track how you use the razor, and get real time information about the shaving experience, and at first that is pretty interesting. But I typically shave before work or when I’m getting ready to go out, so I don’t have a lot of time to make use of all smart features. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of people who do like to use the smart features, and this is the perfect razor for that. At the end of the day, the real question is does the i9000 live up to all its hypes and promises. The short answer is absolutely yes. The i9000 is yet one more milestone in the Philips Norelco line of exceptional products. Its shaves super SUPER close without irritation. Charge time is fast. The razor itself is exceptionally well made of high-quality materials. This is one more Philips Norelco product I will be strongly recommending to my friends and family!

I have traditionally been using classic triple-blade razors and while on travel rechargeable electric shavers of varying quality but nothing like this Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige model. I had no idea what I was missing! A year ago or so I got the Philips Norelco Multigroom 9000 as the ultimate hair trimming/grooming toolkit that I use to trim my goatee and mustache and shave my head with. Now I got an opportunity to try an equally impressive shaving machine, coincidentally with a similar model number and it’s quickly becoming my favorite. The build quality is superb, feels very solid but not too heavy in hand. The triple swiveling, pivoting heads adapt to the shape of your face and the advanced dual-steel precision blades cut hair at skin level, literally 0.0mm, surprisingly with no skin irritation. I would know because I have very sensitive skin. I prefer a wet shave, but with the HydroSkin Glide Coating, this i9000 Prestige model you don’t have to worry about any noticeable friction. Another great feature that I’m very accustomed to from my electric toothbrushes is the SenseIQ pressure guided sensor with the light ring that gives you a visual indicator if you push too hard against your skin, or too little, which wouldn’t necessarily give you the cleanest shave. There is also a smartphone App called GroomTribe Styling and Shaving that will give you more information about your shaving patterns and make recommendations while you’re shaving or afterwards. I love my smartphone and take advantage of useful apps all the time, but just like with my bluetooth connected electric toothbrush, once you use it a few times and tweak the settings to your liking, it is a bit overkill to watch your phone screen while you’re brushing or shaving. A few other notable features - it is very quiet, noise and vibration are minimal. The rechargeable lithium battery life is great, comes with an USB-A charging cable so it can be charged with your typical phone charger, car USB ports, computers, etc. It is also travel friendly and comes with a travel case. Other than that, it is a bit pricey but well worth it and highly recommended.

Ultimate upgrade for a precision shave

've been using the old model of Philips 9000 series shaver since 2019, and I recently upgraded to the i9000 Prestige for a more precise and advanced shaving experience. Compared to my old model, this shaver is a big step up in many ways. The i9000 Prestige delivers an ultra-close shave, cutting hair at skin level without irritation or nicks. Its triple-action lift & cut system raises hairs from the root, giving me a smooth shave that lasts all day. I especially appreciate its precision in tricky areas like the neck and under the nose—places I’ve always struggled with. I shave every 1-3 days, and whether it’s a short stubble or a week-long beard, the i9000 handles it effortlessly with fewer strokes needed. One of the standout features is its AI-powered pressure sensor. It detects how much pressure I'm applying and provides real-time feedback with light indicators, helping me maintain the perfect pressure for a comfortable shave. It also adapts to my beard’s density, automatically adjusting for the most efficient shave. The GroomTribe app’s real-time efficiency tracking is a nice bonus. Battery life is impressive (compared to my older model), with a full charge in just one hour and a quick 5-minute charge for a single shave when I’m in a rush. The battery lasts up to 60 minutes, more than enough for multiple shaves. The charging stand is handy, keeping the shaver organized and ready to use. Cleaning is super easy with the one-touch open feature—I just flip open the head and rinse it under water. This is a big improvement over my old 9000 series. The build quality is solid, and the shaver should last up to two years before needing replacement parts. Plus, the travel pouch is a great addition for on-the-go use. I wish it had USB-C charging instead of a proprietary cable with USB-A, making it more convenient for travel with fewer cables to carry. The Philips i9000 Prestige has exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s precise, comfortable, and packed with smart features that make shaving effortless. Whether you’re upgrading or trying Philips for the first time, I highly recommend this shaver for its performance, durability, and skin-friendly design. A truly worthwhile investment.

I had a Norelco some 25 years ago. At the time, I had a position where I needed to appear clean shaven every single day, or at least close to. The Norelco was the better option to razors as I was traveling a lot. And though I can get a very close shave with a good razor, doing so more than twice a week makes me get a lot of in-grown hairs on my face and neck. So with 25 years of improvement, I was hoping this Norelco would be a significant improvement over my old one. However, best I can tell, this new i9000 does about the same as my old one. On my face and around my mouth, it shaves pretty well. It leaves very short stubble, about like it'd feel 8-12 hours after shaving with a good razor. Also like the older ones I've used, this shaver works best on short stubble from a few days' growth. Longer growth doesn't easily find its way past the shave head grills. If you only shave once a week, you'll either need to take a lot of passes with the i9000 or use the flip-out trimmer first. On my neck and underside of my jaw/chin, the i9000 doesn't do as well. On this softer skin, the articulating shave heads don't seem to do as good a job in keeping the heads in contact with the skin. I have to make lots of passes to make sure it gets everything, and even then it leaves a few small patches where the hair didn't get trimmed short enough and a few individual hairs completely untouched. As said above, this is about the same as I've had from other electric shavers for a long time. While this may be par for the course, it's disappointing that things haven't improved in over two decades. The battery on this new unit does last longer than previous models I've had, so that's an improvement. I can get about 10 shaves before needing to recharge. The included carry case is also nice. However this shaver is also significantly larger than older models as well. Part of that extra size comes from much larger bezels around the shave heads. This makes it harder to gauge the trim line, like when you're shaving below your sideburns or around a goatee. Finally, I'm not sure why Philips Norelco thinks a shaver needs Bluetooth and other connected features. I really don't need to see metrics on my shaving history. It's just one more thing to unnecessarily fixate on with limited actual use or value. To their credit, you don't need to create an account to use the mobile application; you can use it as a guest. But how much lower would the cost of the shaver be if I didn't have to pay for a Bluetooth radio and mobile app development. In all, this is a good electric shaver, but it's not dramatically better than the older Norelcos. It won't revolutionize your shaving regimen.

The Phillips Norelco I9000 Prestige is by far the best rechargeable electric shaver that I have owned, and that is speaking from my experience of owning several before I received this one! At first glance, it has a sleek, attractive design that is pleasing to the eye. It is comfortable to hold in your had. Out of the box, it comes with a charging dock/cable. This allows the shaver to sit upright on the charger while it is docked. It also comes with a nice zip up carrying case. I like the style and quality of the case. This makes traveling with the shaver even easier because I am not worried about it being turned on while in my luggage. The shaver has three shave heads that articulate in different ways based on the contour of your face/neck areas. Below the shaver heads is a light ring that offers you feedback on your shaving. If you push too hard, it turns orange/red. If you are not pushing at all, the light is blue. If you are right on the sweet spot of the proper applied pressure, the light turns green. The shaver also has bluetooth which allows it to connect to your phone. If you download the app associated with it, it will give you more detailed feedback on how well you shaved. This includes applying the proper pressure as well as the appropriate circular motion during your shave. This convenient and easy to use shaver is by far my favorite I have owned!

    A Close Shave!

I’ve been using this Philips Norelco i9000 prestige daily for about a week and it’s a great upgrade over my 10 yr old model. The rotary head design helps to provide an even shave that consistently close to the skin, even in hard to reach areas under the neck and nose. I love the light sensor that changes color based on the pressure you put on the razor, guiding you to getting the best possible shave. Blue=too light, Green=just right Yellow/Orange=too much pressure. After using daily for a week or so, I’ve found that applying the right pressure is critical. Pressing too hard can lead to skin irritation (which happened to me initially). For the best possible shave, use a circular motion while moving the razor across your face. The Norelco i9000 Precision is easy to clean, and comes with a little brush to help with cleaning. It also comes with a carrying case and a charger and cord. Initial charge took about an hour, and I’ve been able to use the razor for a full week and it still is at 85%. One thing I don’t like is that the unit does not come with a wall plug. It comes with a USB A cable, but you need to supply a charging plug. This seems like a cost cutting move that is just inconvenient on what I consider to be a relatively premium razor. The unit itself seems well built too, and the travel case is of a good quality. I’m looking forward to making this my regular shaver.

The new IQ 9000 shaver is a great gift for yourself or a the tech happy person in your life. The packaging is fairly frustration free to open up and get started. Inside you'll get the shaver (pre-assembled), charging cable, charging dock and couple brushes and a nice traveling container to keep it in. The shaver has a nice led screen on the front that keeps the battery life displayed with other helpful information. There's also a nice tracking app that you can pair the shaver with that can help you track how you shave, how often you shave and a myriad of other information. Setup is pretty simple if you can connect earbuds to your phone you can handle this. A nice addition of this model is the charging dock. You can plug the usb cable into the dock and then you can easily set the shaver on the dock for charging rather than having to worry about chasing down a usb cable when it's time to charge it. The battery life seems really good I've been using it for about a week now and I've only lost about 5-10% battery life at once a day light shaving. The shave itself feels good smooth and close, no nicks or anything. Full disclosure I keep a fairly light amount of hair on my face so I'm not a full on thick beard guy. Bonus you can use the shaver wet or dry if you prefer. Overall very happy with the shaver, I don't see any longevity issues here and you can just replace the blades down the line as needed.

This shaver is simple to use, featuring a clear display that shows the battery status and an LED light ring indicating how much pressure is being applied to the face. Charging is via USB-A power. The cable can plug directly into the shaver, which is excellent for travel, or it can plug into the included charging stand, which is great at home. The manufacturer recommends 21 days of use prior to making any assumptions about the shaver because it takes time for the skin and hair growth to get used to an electric shaver. This is partially so the hair will start growing in a more uniform pattern. As of the time of writing this review, when shaving a few days of hair growth, the shaver probably gets about 85% of the hair. It is unable to pick up the hair lying flat against my skin. I tried shaving both dry and wet, and I had the same results both times. The only way to finish the job was with a regular razer. The shaver does much better when it is only shaving one day of hair growth for me. When it shaved the hair appropriately, I was really impressed with how short the hair was cut. My skin truly feels smooth after the shave is done. I am happy to say that it has not cut skin where hair grows, but I accidentally made contact with my lip and quickly realized it was cut. I will not make that mistake twice. There is a pop up beard/sideburn trimmer that activates with the push of a button. It seems to have trouble getting my sideburns due to its safety guard. It cuts hair, but not as much as I expect. Cleaning is simple. There is a button at the base of the blades that pops the blades up, revealing the inside to dump hair and rinse everything out. They also make a cleaning stand that I am very curious to try. I wish it came with the shaver, but it is an optional add-on. Overall, I recommend the shaver for people who shave daily, whether dry, wet with shaving gel, or in the shower. At this time, I would not recommend it to someone who has aggressive beard growth and only wants to shave every few days. That opinion might change after 21 days of proper use, as recommended by the manufacturer. I look forward to the long-term results.

Overall I really like this shaver and the shave it provides. First it comes with a nice hard case, so if you travel you can protect it and not worry about the heads popping open and spilling hair in your bag. That alone is worth it to me. It does have an a Phone Application like everything else that you can connect it to for basic information but I feel I don't need to connect everything to a phone app to use, and luckily you can use it without a phone app, but it is there if you want it, which I'm sure some people find handy, like reminders to charge/clean the phone, I just don't need anything else on my phone so I skipped it. The one feature I really like, not for me, but having nuero-diverse children who need to shave is the light on the shaver, showing when you applying the correct pressure, for them that really seems to help them get it right with the visual clues and makes my life easier in trying to explain to them how to shave, so the hard case and that have made this a winning shaver and the shave is close, I can get very smooth skin thanks to Phillps, so I, my kids and wife highly recommend for when you need to have a baby skin smooth shave.
